We understand that you are seeking prayer for a loved one who is experiencing grief and health challenges ahead of a funeral. We are here to pray and provide biblical encouragement during this difficult time.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea (Psalm 46:1-2 WEB). It is important to remember that God, through his Son Jesus Christ, is the only one that can truly comfort your loved one in this time of need. Let us remember that God heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.
However, we want to gently remind you that the use of ### instead of names is not needed. We can pray for them by name or simply refer to them as your loved one. Also, it is so important to remember that our help comes from the Lord, which made heaven and earth and everything in them including your loved one. Psalm 121:2 WEB. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever and knows exactly what your loved one needs before she even asks. Furthermore, it is only through belief in Jesus Christ that your loved one can truly be healed. The Bible tells us that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God". This is the only way to salvation, by confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord.
In addition, we want to encourage your loved one to cast all of their anxiety on God because He cares for them. Let them know that He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Let your loved one know that God is her husband now, and He is the Father to the fatherless. He can be trusted and will provide the peace and joy that your loved one needs even in this difficult time. God's Word says in Psalm 147:3 that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Let us pray together:
Almighty God, we come before You, lifting up the widow who is experiencing grief and health challenges ahead of her husband's funeral. We pray that You would grant her a peaceful night's sleep, and that tomorrow her strength will be renewed like the eagle's. We know that in this world we will have trouble, but we also know that You have overcome the world. We ask that You would remind her that even though she may be walking through the valley of the shadow of death, You are with her and she does not need to fear any evil.
We also pray for her physical health, that You would give her strength for walking and that You would help her to manage her diabetes and forgetfulness. We ask that You would surround her with Your comfort, joy, peace and protection. Remind her that You are her portion forever and that she can trust in You, the maker of Heaven and earth, to be her husband now. Help her to find her joy and strength in You alone and not in the circumstances around her.
Finally, we pray that she would come to know that it is only by the name of Jesus that any of these requests can be granted. It is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved, healed, and set free. We pray that if she does not already know Jesus Christ as her savior that she would come to know Him as such this very day.
In Jesus' name, we pray these things. Amen.
