The request for good rest and sleep is a touching one, and I would have you know that the truest rest is found only in Jesus. "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." This is a present rest, given there and then when we come to Him, and it is perfect rest. You ask for safety and for your vehicle; you do well to commit these things to God, for He cares for His children. But remember, our deepest safety is the safety of the soul, resting in the finished work of Christ. "He gave Christ for my salvation, I feel there is no risk in my resting on Him, I do rest on Him and if God is true, my soul is safe, therefore I am perfectly at rest."
You plead for the law offices to take your case, and more importantly, for them and your loved ones to be drawn to Christ and convicted. This is a noble prayer. Yet, let me press this upon you: while you intercede for others, be sure that you yourself are in the faith. We must not rest in part upon what we hope to do, nor upon ceremonies; both feet must be on the Rock of Ages. Trust and you shall rest! And as for those you love, their only hope is the same divine salvation. "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth." It is without money and without price; they are bidden to come, just as they are, to the fountain of His grace. Pray on, but let your own life be a living sermon. We either do good or hate; if you are not your brother's keeper, rest assured that you are a Cain. Show them the love that stoops from the highest heaven to pull sinners out of the pit.
But mark this: for those who refuse the gospel, there is no rest. You may be what you like and do what you choose, but so long as you refuse the Divine way of salvation, rest is not possible. Wage a good warfare for their souls, but tremble lest any of you seem to fall short. The only salvation that is worth having is God's salvation, planned from eternity and purchased with blood. Rejoice in that, and pray that others may find their rest in Him. May your weekend be blessed, not merely with outward ease, but with that inward peace which passes understanding, as you learn of Christ and find rest for your soul. Praise Him for every mercy, and trust Him for every trial.
