You speak to God, yet drown your sorrows in drink, pretending all will be well. The day’s own trouble is enough, why heap on more by numbing the soul? Take no thought for the morrow, but do not flee from today’s pain into a bottle. That is not rest; it is a slow poison that bruises your flesh and eats away at your liver. Godly sorrow over your sins would bring you repentance that leads to healing, not regret. Sorrow over sickness or loss cannot restore, but sorrow over sin, turned to Christ, brings life.

Do you not see that the very body you ask God to mend is laid low by your own hand? You pray for your liver, your skin, your bleeding arms, yet cling to what destroys them. This is not faith. Faith receives what reason cannot grasp, as the earth by God’s will brings forth wine from water, and our bodies from dust. He can heal you completely, but not while you love the sickness. Cast away the false comfort of alcohol, and seek true comfort in obedience.

Your prayer for your wife’s heart to soften, for your coworkers and bosses to look kindly on you, first examine your own tongue. You cannot revile or resent them, then ask God to change them. Softening their hearts begins when you put away anger and speak no evil. A harsh word never mends a relationship, but a humble, sober life speaks loudly.

Concerning your daughter, it is right to pray she find honorable work and enter marriage as you and your wife did. But for your son, you ask that he support his girlfriend and find his own beliefs, yet what belief will he find unless you point him to Christ? Do not merely ask God to move him up in his job, but above all pray he turn from any union outside of marriage. If they are living as husband and wife without a covenant, that is a wound in his soul graver than any bruise on your skin. To ignore this and ask blessing on his finances would do him damage. True love rebukes that he may be saved.

You thank God for Jesus Christ, yet you silence His voice with drink and busyness. He whispers quietly to your heart; do not drown out that sound. Repent, not tomorrow, but now. Put away the cup, seek the prayers of the church, and walk as a man who believes his own prayer. Then you will be a better husband, father, and servant, and you will find that the Lord already stands ready to heal and restore.

When you wake up tired enough to think about calling in sick and then realize you can just drink and pretend everything will be fine, something deeper is crying out for real rest. You are not lucky to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; you are graciously rescued. Yet the very body you ask Him to heal still bears the marks of a battle you keep losing on your own. Alcohol offers an immediate promise to dull the ache and silence the worry, but it is a deceiver. It tells you this is how to cope, how to unwind, how to get through one more day. But while you reach for that numbness, your liver is being overwhelmed, your brain cells are being destroyed, and your judgment is quietly slipping away. You already see the evidence on your skin: bruises, bleeding that shouldn't come so easily. These are not random misfortunes; they are the body's way of sounding an alarm.

Scripture describes a people whose whole head is sick and whole heart faint: from the sole of the foot to the top of the head there is no soundness, only wounds and bruises and open sores that have never been cleaned or bandaged or soothed with oil. That picture isn't just a nation's ruin; it's what happens when we turn aside from God's path and try to manage life on our own. Alcohol may seem like a friend, but it leaves wounds untreated and the soul more bruised than before. You are asking God to fix your liver, to stop the bleeding, to make your arms and hands whole again. He can. But wisdom says stop feeding the very thing that overworks that liver and breaks down your body. You don't have to keep pretending. The One who whispers quiet thoughts into your heart is not asking you to limp along with a crutch that is crushing you. He stands ready to bind up your wounds, to cleanse what has been stained deep as scarlet.

The man who turns to a bottle is really searching for joy, for relief, for a moment of lightness. Satan spins the lie that happiness can be poured from a glass. But what you are truly hunting is available in complete safety and overflowing measure through the fullness of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit produces a joy that alcohol only counterfeits, and that joy doesn't rot your liver or cloud your mind; it restores your soul. You don't need to ruin your tomorrows trying to survive today. You asked to be a better person, a better husband, a better father, a better employee, someone who actually listens when God speaks. That transformation starts by laying down the thing you think is helping and letting Jesus truly be your Lord right where the battle is fiercest.

He hears every request you lifted up. You can trust Him with your wife's heart, your coworkers, your bosses, your daughter's dreams, your son's struggles. But walk out of the pretense. Let the bruises and the fatigue drive you not to another easy Sunday on the bed with a drink, but to the Healer who gives genuine rest. You are not lucky; you are loved. Live like a man whose sins have been washed white, not one still soaking in the dye.

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us and allowed us to stand with you in prayer these past days. It is a sacred privilege to lift up your struggles, your family, and your deep desire for transformation before our Heavenly Father.

We have been praying specifically that the Lord would soften the hearts of your wife, coworkers, customers, and supervisors, that they would see the work God is doing in you and respond with grace and encouragement. We have asked Him to strengthen your resolve to overcome the battles you face, to heal your body from the effects of alcohol, and to restore your liver, skin, and hands to health. We’ve also lifted up your children—asking the Lord to open doors for your daughter in her fitness career and to bless her future marriage, and praying for your son’s advancement at work and the deepening of his confidence and faith.

If any of these prayers have been answered—if you’ve felt God’s peace in the midst of temptation, if your relationships have begun to shift, if your health has improved, or if your children have seen breakthroughs—we would love to hear your praise report. Your testimony could encourage others who are walking a similar path.

If, however, the weight of these burdens still feels heavy, or if new challenges have arisen, please don’t hesitate to post again. We are here to continue praying with you, to remind you that you are not alone, and to believe with you for God’s faithfulness. His timing is perfect, even when it’s not our own.

May the Lord draw near to you as you seek Him, filling you with His strength, wisdom, and hope. May He remind you daily of His love and the power of Jesus’ name to bring healing, restoration, and new beginnings. We pray all these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Thank you for your prayers. It's getting better because of this service and for the many prayers from such good people who have prayed for me and my family and my bosses and my coworkers and my customers. I will overcome my AUD and I will lessen my AWS. I will not give up and thanks to God and Jesus Christ my lord and Savior I got this 🙏. Amen
