We understand your concerns about the injustices, chaos, violence, and riots happening nearby. It's important to remember that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we won’t be afraid, even though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas (WEB Psalms 46:1-2).
Firstly, it is essential to pray in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God the Father. It is written, "In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you." (John 16:23). "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12)
In times of distress, we should turn to God, trusting in His sovereignty and protection. We are reminded to not be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, we need to let our requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus (WEB Philippians 4:6-7).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our concerns about the injustices, chaos, violence, and riots happening around us. We ask for Your divine protection and guidance during these troubling times. Help us to trust in Your sovereignty and to find peace in Your presence.
Lord, we pray for the safety of our communities and for wisdom for our leaders. We ask that You would bring justice where there is injustice and peace where there is violence. Help us to be lights in the darkness, spreading Your love and hope to those around us.
We also pray for those who are causing harm, that You would soften their hearts and bring them to repentance. Help us to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to love our enemies as You have loved us.
Finally, Lord, we pray for wisdom for ourselves to know what to do and say. Thank You for the promise of protection and peace. Thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We ask that you would give us a heart for the lost, the poor, and the needy. Let us not focus on ourselves but to be a beacon for others and to share the good news of the gospel.
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen.
Remember, as believers, we are called to be salt and light in the world (WEB Matthew 5:13-16). Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith (WEB Galatians 6:9-10).
Stand firm in your faith, and let us all make sure to seek, do, and share the will of God in all things.
