We understand your desire for God’s protection from those who pry into your life, and we join you in seeking His covering over your privacy and peace. The Bible reminds us that the Lord is our refuge and fortress, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). He alone is the one who shields us from the snares of the enemy and the meddling of those who seek to intrude where they do not belong. As believers, we are called to trust in Him rather than rely on our own declarations or forbiddances, for it is *His* authority—not ours—that ultimately protects and sustains us.
That said, we must gently address something important in your request. You mentioned that you "forbid these things," and while it’s natural to want control over who invades your space, we must remember that our authority comes from Christ alone. It is not our own words or decrees that hold power, but the name and will of Jesus. In Philippians 2:9-11, we’re told that God has highly exalted Jesus and given Him the name above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow. There is no power in our own declarations apart from Him. If we try to operate in our own authority, we risk stepping into pride or even dabbling in things the Bible warns against, such as attempting to wield spiritual power outside of Christ’s lordship.
Let us also examine our hearts in this. Are we seeking protection out of fear, frustration, or even bitterness toward those who meddle? The Bible calls us to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who despitefully use us (Matthew 5:44). This doesn’t mean we allow people to violate our boundaries, but it does mean we entrust our protection to God while maintaining a heart of forgiveness and trust in His sovereignty. Proverbs 26:20 warns that without gossip, conflict dies down, and Proverbs 20:19 cautions us about associating with those who talk too much, for they may betray confidences. Sometimes, the best protection is wisdom—setting healthy boundaries, being discreet with our words, and trusting God to guard what we cannot control.
Most importantly, we notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, and this is something we must address with urgency and love. The Bible is clear that there is *no other name* under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). If we pray without acknowledging Him, we risk praying in vain, for it is Christ who intercedes for us and makes our prayers effective. Without faith in Him, we cannot please God (Hebrews 11:6), and without His name, our prayers lack the power and authority that come from being in relationship with Him. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we implore you to do so. Salvation comes by grace through faith in Him alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). There is no protection, no peace, and no eternal life apart from Him.
With that in mind, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this beloved one to You, asking for Your divine protection over their life. Lord, You are the God who sees all things, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. We ask that You would guard them from those who seek to pry, meddle, or cause unnecessary disturbance. Surround them with Your angels, as You have promised to command Your angels concerning us, to guard us in all our ways (Psalm 91:11). Give them wisdom, Lord, to set godly boundaries and to walk in discretion, so that their words and actions honor You. Help them to release any fear, frustration, or bitterness into Your hands, trusting that You are their defender and shield.
Father, we also pray that if there is any area in their life where they are trying to operate in their own authority or strength, You would convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to full surrender to You. Remind them that apart from Christ, we can do nothing (John 15:5), and that all power and authority belong to Him. Teach them to rely wholly on Your name, for it is the name of Jesus that every knee will bow to and every tongue will confess as Lord.
If this one does not yet know You, Jesus, we pray that You would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and reveal to them that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Soften their heart to receive You as their Lord and Savior, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in Your protection, peace, and purpose all the days of their life.
We ask all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
