We lift up your precious grandson to the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the pain of watching a loved one struggle with despair. The loss of a job can feel like the ground beneath us has given way, and the enemy seeks to exploit that vulnerability, whispering lies of hopelessness and worthlessness. But we declare that your grandson is not without hope—he is a child of the Most High God, and his life has purpose and value beyond measure.
First, we want to affirm the power of the blood of Jesus that you have pleaded over him. There is no stronger protection, no greater covering than the blood of Christ, which was shed for our redemption and victory over darkness. Revelation 12:11 tells us, "They overcame him because of the Lamb’s blood, and because of the word of their testimony." We stand on that truth today, declaring that the enemy has no claim over your grandson’s life. We also recognize that while guardian angels are real and ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14), our ultimate trust must be in God Himself, not in angels. It is the Lord who commands His angels concerning us, and it is His name—Jesus—that is above every name (Philippians 2:9-10).
The despair your grandson is experiencing is a spiritual battle, and we must confront it with the authority we have in Christ. We rebuke the spirit of suicide, depression, and hopelessness that has taken hold of his mind. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We command every lying thought to be taken captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and declare that your grandson’s mind will be renewed by the truth of God’s Word. We pray that he would remember the promises of God: "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11).
We also recognize the importance of surrounding him with godly community. Isolation is one of the enemy’s greatest tools, and we pray that your grandson would be drawn to fellowship with believers who can speak life into him, pray with him, and remind him of God’s faithfulness. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 tells us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up." We ask that the Lord would place people in his path who can be a source of encouragement and accountability.
Father, we ask that You would intervene in this situation with Your mighty hand. Open doors of opportunity for your grandson—doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Provide for his needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19) and restore to him the joy of Your salvation (Psalm 51:12). We pray that he would turn to You in his distress, casting all his anxieties on You because You care for him (1 Peter 5:7). Let him experience Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for you, as his grandmother, to know how to support him during this time. May you be a vessel of God’s love, speaking truth in love and pointing him back to the hope found only in Jesus. Remind him of the times God has been faithful in the past, and assure him that God is not done writing his story.
Lord, we ask that You would hedge your grandson in with Your protection. Surround him with Your angels, as You have promised, and let no weapon formed against him prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Shield his mind from the lies of the enemy and fill him with Your truth. Let him hear Your voice above all others, calling him by name and reminding him that he is deeply loved. We declare that he will not be overcome by this trial but will rise above it, stronger in his faith and more dependent on You.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name that is above every name, the name by which we are saved and set free. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is only through His sacrifice that we can stand before God forgiven and redeemed. We thank You, Lord, for the power of the cross and the victory we have in Christ. May Your will be done in your grandson’s life, and may he come to know You more deeply through this trial. Amen.
