We hear your heart’s longing to receive a personal word from the Lord, and we rejoice that you are reaching out to Him. The message you shared carries echoes of Scripture, promises of redemption, strength in weakness, and hope that does not disappoint. Yet we must gently remind you that God speaks most clearly through His Word, the Bible, and not through signs, feelings, or messages that could be influenced by our own desires or even spiritual deception. The enemy often disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), and we must test every spirit and every word against Scripture (1 John 4:1).
The Lord does turn our mourning into joy (Psalm 30:11), our weeping into dancing (Psalm 30:5), and our trials into testimonies (James 1:2-4). He does work all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). But these promises are not given as vague assurances, they are anchored in the finished work of Jesus Christ, who bore our pain, our sin, and our shame on the cross. It is only through faith in Him that we can claim these promises.
If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. The Bible says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Without Christ, we are separated from God, but through Him, we are reconciled and adopted into His family (Ephesians 1:5).
If you are already a believer, we encourage you to cling to God’s Word, not just to words that sound like His. The Bible is our sure foundation, and it is through Scripture that the Holy Spirit speaks to us. Spend time in prayer, asking the Lord to reveal Himself to you through His Word. Meditate on passages like Isaiah 43:1-3, Jeremiah 29:11, and Romans 8:18, which remind us of God’s faithfulness, His plans for us, and the hope we have in Christ.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your truth and Your will. Lord, we thank You for the promise that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask that You would speak clearly to this dear one through Your Word, that they would not be led astray by feelings or signs, but would be rooted and grounded in the truth of Scripture. Father, if they do not yet know You, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and open their eyes to the beauty of the gospel. If they are already Your child, we ask that You would deepen their faith, strengthen their trust in You, and fill them with the hope that comes from knowing You. Turn their pain into purpose, their tears into testimony, and their difficulties into determination, not because of a vague promise, but because of the power of the cross and the resurrection. Help them to fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and His promises are yes and amen in Him (2 Corinthians 1:20).

Such words have a ring of cheer, yet be wary of any message that would build your hope upon what God shall do in your circumstances before it builds upon what God has done for your soul. Pain turned to power, tears to fire, these are bold claims, and I fear they may lead you to look for a comfortable sensation rather than a reconciled heart. There is a hope that makes not ashamed, but it flows from the mercy of God in Christ Jesus. It is not a hope that merely patches over your sorrows with promises of earthly betterment; it is a hope that carries you clean out of yourself and into the wounds of the Savior.
You will find in this very place a temptation common to many: when there is no hope in themselves, they either sink into despair or they manufacture a notion that God has whispered some new thing into their ear. The heart craves a sign, a token, a message warm and personal, yet all the while the written Word lies open and the crimson fountain streams untouched. Do not believe that lie. The true message from God is not a secret that lifts your pain without dealing with your sin. It is the gospel: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. If you would have power over your trials, you must first be emptied of your own strength. There is no hope in the old nature, none whatever; yet there is a boundless hope in Him whom God has appointed to save.
You speak of never losing hope. I ask you, upon what is that hope fixed? If it clings to a private revelation of future ease, it will prove a spider’s web when the storm of judgment comes. But if, being a poor, guilty sinner, you fly to the cross, then you have a hope that anchors the soul, a hope grounded upon God’s own faithful promise, sealed by the blood of His Son. The Lord does indeed have good things in store for His people, but His best gift is Himself, and the road to that treasure is often through the valley of humiliation. He may not turn your tears into the fire of earthly zeal, but He can make your soul a flame of love to Jesus Christ, which is far better.
Search your heart. Does this message you cling to cause you to look to Christ with deeper trust, or does it simply soothe you while you remain at a distance from the cross? The Spirit’s office is to take of the things of Christ and show them to you. Any hope that does not lead you straightway to the substitutionary sacrifice is a delusion. I pray you, examine whether you have ever truly come to an end of yourself, whether you have seen that in your flesh dwells no good thing, and whether you have laid hold of Jesus as your only righteousness. For it is then, when you have no hope in yourself, that you find an immovable hope in God. And then, being justified by faith, you may go on your way knowing that He who spared not His own Son will with Him freely give you all things. Those things may include pain and difficulty, but they will be sanctified; you shall find them turned not into mere personal power, but into occasions for Christ’s strength to rest upon you. That is the alchemy of grace.
Come, then, not with a demand for a sign, but with the plea of a penitent: “God be merciful to me, a sinner.” Open your Bible, lay your ear to those promises, and you will hear God speaking indeed, not a new word, but the eternal Word which is settled forever. The hope you express, that God will turn your pain into power and your tears into fire, is a good hope indeed. But take care that you do not seek all its fulfillment in this present life, for we are saved by hope, and hope that is seen is not hope. If you demand to see everything here and now, you risk losing the very hope that brought you to God. It was hope alone you brought, trusting in His promises, and by it you were made a friend and a son. Hold it fast, then. Remember that whether you have done good and not yet received a reward, be not troubled, for in the time to come the recompense will come with increase.
Through perseverance and tribulation, hope is refined like gold in the fire, and the soul becomes brighter and gains goodlier hopes. The Canaanite woman, though unworthy, by her constant entreaty made herself worthy to receive. So let your tears become the urgency of prayer, continuing instant in supplication and watching thereunto with all perseverance. For patience works probation, and probation hope, and hope does not make ashamed. The husbandman wearies all year, trusting in the harvest he cannot yet see; do you likewise. Had He not risen, every glimmer of hope would die with us. But because He lives, we have been born again to a living hope.
