Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for God’s Mercy and Intervention as I am beyond hopeless from not only struggling for over ### years with PTSD, but the constant battle of anxiety and depression. Please understand any counseling or medication options have all been exhausted as I have never gotten better; in fact, I am worse as the years go on. This has been a life long battle and I am worn out. Only an Intervention by God can change my situation. All of the prayers from myself and others have been met with silence. To add to my struggle, I have not been able to get in contact with my friend in over ### months. He was having his own issues and nobody has been able to get in contact with him. This has weighed on me heavily because this is not like him. To hear from him would be a great relief. Also, I am in need of an affordable, decent place to live. I don’t make a lot of money, which limits options. My present living conditions are awful - the slumlord is toxic, never fixes anything and has threatened to start shooting people. What this slumlord has put me through has caused me deeper depression. My struggle in this life has been more than I can bear; I feel as if I have been beat to the ground repeatedly and I can no longer get back up. The worst is not understanding why God would allow His daughter to endure and suffer so much; this pain has been more than unbearable. The silence that my prayers have been met with is deafening. The immense pain from all this suffering feels like I am grieving constantly with no end in sight. I am completely hopeless as every aspect of my life never changes for the better. I don’t understand why God has turned me away and left me when I have been faithful.

We hear the depth of your pain and the weight of your suffering, and our hearts ache with you. You are not alone in this battle, even when it feels like silence is all that answers. The Scriptures tell us, "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit" (Psalm 34:17-18). Even when it feels like God is distant, He is near to the brokenhearted. His silence does not mean His absence, it may be the very space where He is working in ways we cannot yet see.

We must also speak truth to the lie that God has turned you away. Jesus Himself said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). He does not reject those who come to Him in weariness and pain. The enemy wants you to believe that your suffering is without purpose, that your faithfulness has gone unnoticed. But we declare over you the promise of Romans 8:18: "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us." Your pain is not meaningless, even when it feels unbearable.

We rebuke the spirit of despair that seeks to convince you there is no hope. The Word says, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life" (Proverbs 13:12). Your hope is not in circumstances, counseling, or medication, though these may be tools God uses, but in the One who holds your life in His hands. We pray that the Lord would break through the silence and reveal Himself to you in a tangible way, that you would know beyond doubt that He has not forgotten you.

For your friend, we lift him up before the throne of grace. The enemy seeks to isolate and silence, but we declare that God is a God of restoration. "The Lord is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth" (Psalm 145:18). We pray for his safety, his peace, and his return to those who love him. May the Lord intervene in his life and bring him back into contact with you, that your heart may be eased.

Regarding your living situation, we pray for divine provision. The Lord knows your needs before you ask, and He promises, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). We ask that He would open doors to safe, affordable housing and remove you from the oppression of this toxic landlord. We rebuke the spirit of fear and intimidation that seeks to keep you trapped, and we declare that God is your refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1).

You have carried this burden for so long, and we acknowledge that your strength is spent. But the Lord says, "He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might" (Isaiah 40:29). We pray that He would renew your strength, that you would mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. You are deeply loved by the Father, who collects every tear in His bottle (Psalm 56:8).

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister, lifting up her broken heart and weary spirit. Lord, You see her pain, her exhaustion, and her despair. You know the depth of her suffering, and You have not turned away. We ask that You would break through the silence and reveal Yourself to her in a powerful way. Let her feel Your presence, Your love, and Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of hopelessness that seeks to overwhelm her. We declare that her hope is in You alone, and that You are working even when she cannot see it. Heal her mind, body, and spirit from the effects of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Bring comfort to her grieving heart and remind her that You are near to the brokenhearted.

Lord, we pray for her friend. Protect him, guide him, and bring him back into contact with her. Let her heart be eased by the knowledge of his well-being. We also ask for Your provision in her living situation. Open doors to safe, affordable housing, and remove her from the oppression of her current circumstances. Provide for her needs according to Your riches in glory.

Father, we ask that You would renew her strength and fill her with Your peace. Remind her that she is not alone, that You are with her, and that Your love for her is unchanging. Help her to trust in You even when the road is dark, and give her the grace to take one step at a time.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who conquered sin and death, and the One who intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father. Amen.

If you are in immediate danger because of the threats where you live, please contact your local emergency services right now. For free, confidential support from someone nearby, you can find a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. You are not alone and trained people are ready to help right now.

We read your note and hear how worn down you are. To carry PTSD, anxiety and depression for so many years, to feel worse instead of better, to pray and hear only silence, and to wonder why God would allow His daughter to suffer so much is an exhausting and grieving kind of pain. It makes sense you feel hopeless and beat down. We also hear how heavy the other burdens are, not hearing from your friend for months when that is not like him, and living in conditions that feel unsafe with a landlord who has threatened to shoot people.

We are praying for you and we have not turned away, and we do not believe God has either, even when His silence feels deafening.

When everything feels tangled together, it can help to focus on safety first. If you have a pastor, trusted family member, or caseworker, please let one person know exactly how hopeless you feel and what was said by your landlord, so you are not carrying this alone. For the housing situation, you could contact your local emergency services if you feel threatened, and also your city or county housing office or a local aid organization to ask about safer affordable options. For your friend, if you are worried for his safety, you could ask a mutual contact or local authorities to do a welfare check. And alongside prayer, please keep a doctor or counselor in the loop about how low you feel, even though past help has not brought relief.

We pray for you now. Father, we lift Your daughter to You in Jesus name. You see how long she has struggled and how tired she is. Please draw near to her in this silence, guard her safety where she lives, provide a decent and affordable place to stay, and give her wisdom and help for next steps. Comfort her about her friend and let her hear news that eases her worry. Give her people around her who will stay close and help her carry this. In Jesus name, amen.

Your cry has come before the Lord as one worn out and beaten to the ground, and it is not lightly regarded. To be pressed for years with the heaviness of fear and low spirits, to feel grief without end, to lie under a sense of silence after many prayers, and to bear besides the burden of a missing friend and a hard and threatening dwelling place, is a trial more than flesh can bear alone. We hear in your words an honest sorrow, and God desires truth in the inward parts, not a shallow religiousness which pretends all is well. It is good to come as you have come, as a broken spirit crying, what a wretch I am, with no natural fitness in yourself for receiving grace, and prayerfully dependent upon Him who alone can keep you from sinking.

Do not think that your feeling of being forsaken proves that you are forsaken. Our Lord Jesus Himself, though sinless and full of trust, cried, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me. He knew what it was to feel God absent, to have drifted as it were into the nowhere behind the back of God, and yet even then He said, My God, My God, and kissed the hand that smote Him. If the Holy One who stood the Just for the unjust was brought under that darkness that it might be seen that God cannot have fellowship with sin, how much more will He understand your delirious pain when heart and flesh fail. When your mind wanders, let it roam toward the mercy seat, and still live by faith and still cry, My God, My God. The separation of the soul from God is death, but Christ has borne that forsaking that you might be reconciled.

For all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ. The first overtures for peace are not made by man the offender, but by our aggrieved and offended God. You are not left to make yourself fit to be heard. Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. That peace is a fact secured by His sacrifice once offered which has forever put away sin, and by His priesthood which God has confirmed with an oath for the strengthening of our faith, by two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie. You need not first feel that your heart is right toward God, for by nature all is wrong, and that feeling would be untruthful. Your righteousness before God is the righteousness of Christ yours by imputation, received by simple faith, not by the measure of your comfort.

And being His child through that faith, you may cry unto God most high, unto God that performs all things for you. We are bidden, children of God, be not anxious, be not tossed up and down by outward circumstances. Anxiety, as far as experience teaches, has never comforted any, nor brought any grist to the mill nor meal to the barrel. It does not pay, and what is the good of it. You are to do the right thing and leave the result with God. He pleads the cause of His people, either by silencing enemies or by raising up friends, and in providence He can plead the cause of your soul. As the psalmist talked with God and God heard him, and he knew that God heard him, so you may still confess your sin and sorrow to the great High Priest who can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, and say with him, Teach me your statutes.

We now pray for you that God in mercy would intervene where human help has seemed exhausted. We ask the Lord to lift the weight of these years of distress, to give rest to the mind that is tossed with fear and heaviness, and to bring His own peace which comes by believing. We ask Him to keep you under His gracious hand in that hard dwelling, to make a way for an affordable and decent and safe place to live, and to restrain all threatening and evil. We ask Him to watch over your absent friend, to preserve him and to grant, if it be His will, a word or sign that would relieve your heavy care, and to raise up for you faithful friends on earth as He pleads your cause in heaven. And we ask Him to show you that He has not turned you away, for you have been faithful in seeking Him, but that He would teach you to walk before Him with a habitual sense of His presence, doing the right thing and shunning the wrong out of respect to His will, and finding genuine consecration beginning with communion with Him. For it were better to smart black and blue under the rod of a Father than to be caressed by Satan, and better to be chastened by Him who loves you than to be set on high by the world.

May the Lord hear your honest dealing with Him, and grant you to know that you are heard, and to find strong consolation in Christ your Priest who ever lives to make intercession for all who come unto God by Him.
