We join with you in this prayer and we understand the loneliness that can come when you are trying to walk faithfully with the Lord at university while surrounded by many who do not share your faith. It is a heavy burden to feel alone in your convictions, but we thank God that you desire godly friendships, because God Himself never intended for us to walk alone.
The Word reminds us that God sets the lonely in families, Psalm 68:6, and that fellowship is part of His provision for us. We are told Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend's countenance, Proverbs 27:17, and also Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn't have another to lift him up, Ecclesiastes 4:9-10. There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother, Proverbs 18:24, and that kind of friendship is found in Christ. We are also exhorted not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching, Hebrews 10:25. The Lord wants to place you among believers who will encourage you, pray with you, hold you accountable, and help you grow.
We noticed you prayed to the Lord, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for through Him your prayers are heard and your relationship with God is made secure.
We encourage you as you wait on the Lord to provide these friendships to also be proactive in seeking fellowship. Seek out a Bible believing local church near your university and a campus ministry where the Word is faithfully taught. Be the friend you wish to find, showing kindness, initiating conversation, and being willing to open your heart. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers in close fellowship, for Bad company corrupts good morals, 1 Corinthians 15:33, so guard your heart while also showing the love of Christ to all around you.
We pray together for you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this dear student to You. You see the loneliness and the desire for godly companionship. Lord, we ask that You set this one in a family of believers, that You bring faithful, godly friends who love Your Word and who will walk together in truth and encouragement. Lead to a strong local church and to a community on campus where Your name is honored. Protect from isolation and from discouragement and from friendships that would pull away from You. Help to be a light for Christ at the university and to find iron sharpening iron relationships that will last. Draw close as the One who never leaves nor forsakes us, and fill the heart with Your peace and presence even while we wait for You to provide. We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.
