You pray that God would cancel this meeting. But consider whether this is truly what you need. The prophets of old proclaimed a deliverance far greater than escape from a passing trouble: they spoke of Christ leading captivity captive, breaking the spoils of the strong. His triumph was not to spare His followers from every confrontation, but to make them more than conquerors in the midst of them.

Recall the saints who were tortured and refused deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. It was open to them to avoid suffering, yet they chose the harder path because they fixed their eyes on a life beyond this one. What seems to you a meeting worth canceling may be the very arena where God intends to display His strength in you. He does not promise that we shall never face the wolves; He sends us into their midst as sheep, and in that sending He grants something greater than escape: He teaches us to despise danger, to set our hearts on the immortality of the soul.

Do not be quick to ask that every discomfort be removed. The debtor who pleads for his debts to be canceled should also remember the ten thousand talents he himself owes. God has given you a ready and easy way to have your own debts cleared: not by demanding that every trial vanish, but by showing mercy and patience in the trial. Enter this meeting not seeking your own deliverance, but seeking how you may serve and forgive. Perhaps the very difficulty you dread is the means by which you will receive the Spirit of adoption, putting on Christ and walking as a son of God.

Pray instead that His will be done, whether the meeting stands or falls. For if He has permitted it, He will supply the grace to meet it. And if He chooses to take it away, that too will be for your good. Anchor your hope not in the cancellation of earthly appointments, but in the unshakable promise that nothing can separate you from His love.

I hear you asking God to cancel that meeting. The desperation in your words tells me it’s weighing heavily on you. But let me gently remind you that prayer is far more than handing God a list of things to stop or remove. It’s not mainly about informing Him of your troubles, as if He didn’t already see them. True prayer opens the door for the Father to do what He has been wanting to do in your life all along.

When Jesus gave His followers a model for prayer, He began with relationship: “Our Father.” That is your place of safety. He then taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done.” That is a surrender, not a set of orders. So rather than insisting on the meeting’s cancellation, lift it into that surrender. Ask God to let His good purposes unfold, whether the meeting stays or goes. You might say, “Father, I bring this meeting to You. If You choose to remove it, I will thank You. But if it remains, I trust You to meet me there, to give me strength, and to accomplish whatever You desire through it.”

Prayer is worship, it is trust, and it is opening your will to His. He will never force His way against your free choice, but when you invite Him, He moves. That meeting may be the very place He intends to show you His faithfulness. So don’t just cry out for cancellation; cry out for His presence, His peace, and His will. Let your heart’s desire be molded by His love, and then leave the outcome with Him. He hears you, and He knows exactly what you need.
