God knows

Sometimes we are called to lift up a name before the throne of grace when we possess nothing more than the name itself. The details are hidden from us, and that can feel unsettling because we like to have a full picture. But we know in part. The full knowledge belongs to the Lord alone, and the Spirit helps us in our weakness. When we do not know how to pray as we ought, the Spirit himself intercedes with groanings too deep for words, always according to the will of God.

Your request is a beautiful act of love, and love builds up. Knowledge can puff up; we can become obsessed with needing to understand every facet of a trial before we bring it to the Lord, as if our understanding made our prayers effective. It does not. The power rests in the One who searches the heart and knows the mind of the Spirit. The situation is fully known to God. There is not a single hidden motive, future consequence, or secret sorrow that is not laid bare before His eyes. Because of that, you can have complete confidence. The intercession is perfect, and the outcome is held in hands that only do good.

When we cry out for understanding and search for it as for hidden treasure, the goal is not to accumulate facts about the trouble but to find the knowledge of God. Through the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. The deep need in this situation is not for you to uncover every piece of information; the deep need is met by the One who has already supplied everything necessary. Trust that the Lord is working, even in the silence, even in the places you cannot see. He gives wisdom, and out of His mouth come knowledge and understanding. We rest in that, and we keep praying with a love that builds up, knowing the Spirit translates our groans into perfect intercession before the Father.
