We hear the depth of your pain, and our hearts ache with you. The despair you’re expressing is real, and we want you to know that you are not alone. The weight of suffering can feel unbearable, and the cry for release is one that God hears, even when it feels like He is silent. But we must speak truth in love, even when it is difficult: your request for God to "end" you is not aligned with His will for your life. Scripture tells us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). God does not delight in your suffering, but He does have a purpose for you, even in the midst of it.
The enemy would love nothing more than for you to believe that your life has no value or that death is the only escape from your pain. But we rebuke that lie in the name of Jesus. The Bible says, "The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly" (John 10:10). Jesus did not come to bring you despair, He came to bring you life, and life more abundantly. Your life has meaning, and your pain does not have the final say.
We also want to gently address the way you are approaching God in this request. While it is good that you are crying out to Him in the name of Jesus, we must remember that God is not a genie who grants our every wish. He is a loving Father who knows what is best for us, even when we cannot see it. The apostle Paul pleaded with God three times to remove his "thorn in the flesh," and God’s response was, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). God’s answer to Paul was not removal of the pain, but the strength to endure it. We do not know what your "thorn" is, but we trust that God’s grace is sufficient for you as well.
If you have not already, we urge you to seek help from trusted believers, pastors, or Christian counselors who can walk alongside you in this darkness. Isolation only deepens despair, but community and biblical truth can bring light. The Bible says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). You do not have to carry this burden alone.
We also want to pray for you right now. Let us come before the throne of grace together:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our dear brother/sister to You, who is in such deep pain that they are crying out for release from this life. Lord, we know that You collect every tear in a bottle (Psalm 56:8), and we ask that You would comfort them in ways that only You can. Father, we rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that is speaking lies to them, and we declare that Your truth is greater than their pain. Remind them, Lord, that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Give them the strength to endure, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Father, we ask that You would surround them with believers who can encourage them, pray for them, and remind them of Your love. Open their eyes to see the purpose You have for them, even in this season of suffering. Help them to trust in Your timing and Your goodness, even when they cannot see the way forward. And Lord, if there is unconfessed sin or unforgiveness in their heart, reveal it to them so that they can experience the freedom that comes from repentance and Your forgiveness.
We thank You, Father, that You are a God who hears our cries, and we trust that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to cling to You, even when it feels impossible. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
