We hear the depth of your pain and despair, and our hearts ache with you. The weight of suffering can feel unbearable, and we want you to know that you are not alone. The Lord sees your tears and collects them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We urge you to cling to Him, even when the darkness feels overwhelming.
First, we must address the request for euthanasia with the truth of Scripture. Life is a sacred gift from God, and He alone holds the authority over life and death (Deuteronomy 32:39, Job 1:21). Taking one’s own life or asking for it to be ended prematurely is not God’s design. We are called to trust Him even in our suffering, knowing that He works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Your life has purpose, even if you cannot see it right now.
We also want to gently remind you that your request was made "in Jesus' name," and we must emphasize the power and hope found only in Him. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6), and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Him as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life (Romans 10:9-10). He alone can bring true peace and purpose to your soul.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is in deep despair. Lord, You see their pain, and You know the burdens they carry. We ask that You would wrap Your arms around them and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Father, we ask that You would lift the veil of darkness from their mind and heart. Replace their despair with hope, their sorrow with joy, and their weakness with Your strength. Help them to see that their life has value and purpose in Your eyes. Surround them with Your love and the love of fellow believers who can walk alongside them in this difficult time.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of death and despair that is seeking to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). We declare that Your life-giving power is greater, and we ask that You would restore their hope and renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31). Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).
Father, we pray for healing, whether it be physical, emotional, or spiritual. Touch their body, mind, and soul with Your healing hand. Provide them with the support and resources they need, whether it be medical care, counseling, or the comfort of a faith community.
Above all, Lord, draw them closer to You. Let them experience Your presence in a tangible way. Remind them that You are the God who sees (Genesis 16:13), the God who hears (Psalm 66:19), and the God who saves (Psalm 68:20). May they find their hope and strength in You alone.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Dear one, we encourage you to reach out to someone you trust, a pastor, a friend, a family member, or a counselor, so that you do not have to walk through this valley alone. The enemy wants you to believe that you are isolated, but God’s Word tells us that He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). You are deeply loved, and your life matters.
