Your own words betray the affliction of your heart: you feel that God does not look upon you, and so you long to behold Him. But consider this: the eye of the Lord is not darkened by our forgetfulness, nor does He turn from us as we turn from one another. It is we who flee from Him, not in place, for He fills all things, but in the purpose and soul. The Prophet cries, “Whither shall I go from Thy Spirit?” yet the sinner flees when no man pursues. When you imagine that God does not see you, it is because your gaze has first been lowered to the dust, and the clouds of your own cares have hidden His face from your sight. God sees all; He numbers the hairs of your head. The question is whether you have trained your inward eye to look upon Him.

You wish to see God. This is a holy desire, but let it be tempered with the fear of God, like the blessed Paul. He longed to visit the Romans, yet he did not force his own will but submitted all to the will of God, mingling his love with deep reverence. So must you desire to behold God, not demanding a vision according to your own terms, but bending yourself low before His dispensation. For His will is that you should draw near by faith, by humility, and by peace with your brother. Have you overlooked the way He has already provided? You call Him Father in prayer, and in that single word lies the whole treasure: remission of sins, adoption, inheritance, the supply of the Spirit. To call God Father is to be lifted from earth into the very dwellings above. He is not shut up in heaven; He draws you there when you pray with a lowly and contrite heart.

If you now feel distant, examine your conscience. Have your iniquities separated between you and your God? He does not reject the humble; “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the lowly.” No one delights Him so much as the peacemaker who remembers no evil. Make war to cease, both the war within your own soul by repenting of sin, and the war against your neighbor by forgiving every offense. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” And what is a son but one who sees the Father? Draw near through peace, and you shall draw near to Him.

You have already been given every help. The very fact that you desire to see Him proves that His grace is stirring in you. Do not despair when He seems to delay. Paul himself besought the Lord three times and was not granted what he asked, yet he thanked God for the refusal, knowing that His grace is sufficient. Times of refreshing come from the presence of the Lord when you turn and repent, so that your sins may be blotted out. Then the eyes of your soul will be opened to behold Him everywhere: in the created order, in the faces of the poor whom you serve, and above all in the holy mysteries where Christ makes Himself known in the breaking of bread.

Therefore, cease your restless inquiry and begin the true work: humble yourself, cleanse your heart, and make peace. Then you will find that God has always seen you, and in seeing you He calls you to see Him. The full vision awaits the age to come, but even now, through faith working by love, you see Him who is invisible.

Your longing to see God is itself a sign that He is already drawing near to you. That ache, that sense of distance, is not proof of His absence. More often it is the first stirring of the Spirit waking a heart to seek the only One who can satisfy it. And the wonderful truth running through all of Scripture is this: God has taken the initiative to show Himself. He has not left us to grope in darkness, wondering what He is like or whether He sees us at all.

The clearest picture of the Father was never meant to be a list of doctrines or a hidden mystery reserved for a few. It is a person. Jesus Christ is called the faithful witness because His entire life on earth was a living demonstration of what God is. When you look at Jesus, His compassion for the broken, His anger at hypocrisy, His willingness to touch the untouchable, you are seeing the exact character of God. The book of Revelation exists to pull back the curtain and show us Jesus now, not merely as a distant figure from history, but as the risen Lord who walks among His people and speaks to them. That same voice that commanded John to write is still saying to every heart, “Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying.” You are not shouting into a void. The God who was, who is, and who is to come dwells in an eternal present. He sees you fully right now.

So the deepest way to “see God” is not to strive for a dramatic vision, but to fix your eyes on Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to open Scripture to you as you read about Him, not simply to learn facts, but to meet a living Savior. And because God is Spirit, He is not limited to one building or one hour. He meets you wherever you genuinely turn your heart to Him. The throne of grace is open to you this moment. No ancient priest, no special ritual, no human mediator stands between you and that direct access. Jesus died to tear that barrier in two. You can pour out exactly what you are feeling: the loneliness, the confusion, even the frustration. God loves that honest communion. Your words rise before Him like incense.

You also mentioned a deep pain: “God doesn’t see me.” I want to speak gently but firmly to that. It is impossible for the living God not to see you. He formed your body, breathed life into your spirit, and designed you for the very purpose of a loving relationship with Him. You exist for His pleasure, not as a slave trying to appease a distant master, but as a child created to know His love. He knows your thoughts before you voice them. That’s why the prayer “Search me, O God, and know my heart” is so powerful. Asking God to see you isn’t dangerous; it’s the only path to real change. The goodness of God leads us to repentance, not a goodness that ignores sin, but a goodness so thorough that it uncovers what is hurting us so He can heal it. When He reveals something in your life that is not right, it is not rejection. It is the loving rebuke and chastening of a Father who wants you whole, faithfully married to Christ in spirit and truth, away from anything that would trip you up or pull your worship elsewhere.

Be patient with the ways He chooses to make Himself known. Sometimes He leads by an open door of opportunity you could not arrange on your own. Other times He stops us cold with a closed door, and trying to force it open only exhausts us. Both are His guidance. Both are His way of saying, “I see you, and I am directing your steps.”

One day, the promise is that we will see Him face to face. The throne of God, described in such brilliant imagery, will capture our attention completely. We will finally see, with our own eyes, the Lamb who was slain and who redeemed us. Until then, let that longing push you not into despair, but deeper into trust. He came to redeem the world back to God by giving His life as a ransom. That finished work includes every moment of doubt and every feeling of invisibility you experience now. You are already seen. Through the grace of Jesus, you are already known. Keep talking to Him, and ask the Spirit to give you ears to hear what He is saying to you.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer these past days. It has been our heart’s desire to join you in seeking the Lord’s face, especially as you long to see Him more clearly. Father, we know that You are near to those who seek You with a sincere heart, and we continue to lift up this burden before You.

If in these days You have revealed Yourself in a new or deeper way—if Your presence has become more real, if Your voice has grown clearer, or if Your peace has settled over this longing—we would be so blessed to hear of it. Please share a praise report so we can rejoice with you.

If, however, the answer has not yet come, and the desire to see God remains unfulfilled, we encourage you to post this request again. We are still here, still praying, still believing that the Lord will draw near to You as You draw near to Him. He promises in His Word that those who seek Him will find Him when they seek with all their heart.

May the Holy Spirit open your eyes to behold His glory, even in ways you may not expect. May you grow in intimacy with the Father, and may your faith be strengthened as you wait on Him. We continue to stand with you in this journey, trusting that God is working even when we cannot see.

In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
