God chose the weak things of the world

A pattern is becoming clearer to me...what's widely accepted by the world, the opposite is usually chosen by God. One thing with changing gender roles, it seems men with characteristics of men are not too popular these days. Women, who to me seem to robotically follow worldly trends, go for men who by appearance and maybe actions, don't seem so much like you'd think of a man. In other words, to me, it seems they're looking for someone who's more like another woman than a man. By contrast, many of the men I notice getting born again are big athletic types. The one that's "not popular" with the world is being chosen by God. Even in politics, nowadays with all this "PC" condoning wrong things or being permissive to them, I notice the ones coming out more as Christians are not them but those with more conservative views. Reminds me of the verse "God chose the weak things of the world that He might put the strong things to shame."

Seek His Face and Presence not just His hand. In his Presence is everything you need. This does not mean you can have any material thing, perfect spouse because you asked for it in Jesus Christ name. You will have your needs, some of your wants, and difficult trials. The difficult trials are supposed to refine your character and make you more like Jesus. He is more interested in getting you to everlasting life and having your heart in the right place than he is in giving you gifts. It’s eternal life he’s concerned with.

We hear your observations and share your concern about the ways the world has distorted God’s design for men and women, relationships, and even leadership. The patterns you describe are indeed troubling, but they also reveal a profound truth: God often works in ways that confound the wisdom of the world. As you noted, 1 Corinthians 1:27 says, *"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong."* This is not because God delights in weakness, but because He delights in displaying His strength through those who humbly submit to His order.

The world’s redefinition of masculinity and femininity is a direct rebellion against God’s created design. Scripture is clear that men and women are equal in value but distinct in role. Ephesians 5:22-25 lays out the beauty of God’s plan for marriage: *"Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body. But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it."* This is not oppression—it is a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church. When men embrace godly leadership, strength, and sacrificial love, and when women embrace godly submission, respect, and nurturing, marriages thrive in a way that glorifies God.

The trend you describe, where women pursue men who lack masculine traits, is a symptom of a culture that has rejected God’s design. It is no surprise that such relationships often lead to confusion, frustration, and even sin. We must pray for a revival of godly masculinity—men who lead with courage, integrity, and love, as Christ did. Likewise, we must pray for women to value and seek men who reflect these qualities, rather than conforming to the world’s shallow standards.

We also see this principle at work in the men you describe who are coming to Christ—those who may have once relied on their physical strength but now recognize their need for spiritual strength. This is a beautiful picture of God’s grace. As 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 reminds us, *"He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me. Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong."*

In politics, too, we see God raising up those who stand for truth, even when the world mocks them. This is not a call to blind allegiance to any political figure, but a recognition that God often uses those who refuse to compromise His Word for the sake of popularity. As Jesus said in John 15:19, *"If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."*

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts grieved by the ways the world has twisted Your design for men and women, marriage, and leadership. We thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Lord, we ask that You would raise up godly men—men who lead with strength, humility, and love, reflecting the character of Christ. We pray for women to value and seek husbands who honor You, rather than conforming to the world’s standards. Father, we ask that You would heal the brokenness in relationships and marriages, restoring them to Your original design.

We pray for those who feel weak or overlooked by the world, that they would find their strength in You. Remind them that Your power is made perfect in their weakness. Lord, we ask that You would continue to confound the wisdom of the world by using the humble and the weak to display Your glory. Raise up leaders in our churches, communities, and nations who will stand for truth, even when it is unpopular.

We rebuke the spirit of confusion and rebellion that seeks to distort Your design for gender, marriage, and family. We declare that Your ways are higher than the world’s ways, and Your plans will prevail. May Your Church be a beacon of light in this dark world, showing the beauty of Your design for men, women, and marriage.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.

We hear you, dear friend, and we're right there with you, seeing the world's twisted views on masculinity, femininity, and relationships. It's like watching a big puzzle where the pieces just don't fit God's original design. But remember, God often uses the world's rejection of His ways to show His power and grace even more brightly.

Think about it, when the world says "strong is weak" and "weak is strong", God smiles and says, "Exactly, that's how I work best!" It's like He's saying, "Watch this, world. I'll take your so-called 'weak' and show you what real strength looks like."

We see this in the men you mentioned, those who might have relied on their physical strength before but now find their true strength in Christ. It's like they've traded in their old, rusty superhero cape for a shiny, new one that says "Jesus" on the back. And it's not just in individuals, but in our societies too. When God raises up leaders who stand for truth, even when it's unpopular, it's a beautiful display of His grace and power.

So, let's pray together, shall we? Heavenly Father, we come to You with heavy hearts, but also with hope. We see the world's mess, but we also see Your promises. Help us, Lord, to be Your light in this world, showing the beauty of Your design for men, women, and relationships. Help us to stand strong in Your truth, even when the world says we're weak. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We want to thank you for sharing your heart with us and allowing us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. It is a blessing to lift up your observations and concerns before our Heavenly Father, trusting in His wisdom and sovereignty. We have prayed that God would continue to reveal His truth to you, strengthening your faith as you see His ways contrast so clearly with the patterns of this world.

We ask that the Lord would give you peace and confidence in His design, even when it seems the world celebrates what is contrary to His Word. May He remind you daily that He indeed chooses the weak things to shame the strong, and that His strength is made perfect in what the world may overlook or dismiss. We have also prayed for discernment—for you and for all believers—to recognize the men and women God is raising up for His purposes in this generation, that we might support, encourage, and stand alongside them in faith.

If you have seen God move in response to these prayers, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the answers are still unfolding, or if new burdens have arisen, please share them again so we may continue to intercede on your behalf. Either way, we are grateful to walk this journey of faith with you.

May the Lord bless you with clarity, courage, and a deepened trust in His perfect plan. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

1 Corinthians 26. Christian friends, remember the time when God called you to come to him. Think about what you were like. Not many of you were clever or powerful in the way that people think is good. Not many of you belonged to important families. 27 Instead, God chose to use things that...
