We join you in praying the words of Jesus as taught to his disciples in the Lord's prayer.

Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

First, we commend you for praying in Jesus' name, as this is the only way we are able to access God. Even in Jesus' day, he said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

This prayer is a beautiful outline of how we should approach God, by acknowledging his holiness, his kingdom, and his will. It is the only prayer that Jesus specifically taught us to pray. We should always have a heart to forgive as well so that we may be forgiven.

We encourage you to continue using this prayer as a model and pattern for your prayer life, but do not merely recite it. Use it to learn how to pray by using it as a framework. Notice the order of the requests and how they are focused on the Father's will as well as our requests.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
