Getting The Holy Spirit

We hear your heart’s longing to receive the Holy Spirit, and we rejoice with you in this desire to draw closer to God. The Holy Spirit is a precious gift, promised by Jesus Himself to all who believe in Him. As Acts 2:38-39 tells us, "Peter said to them, 'Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.'"

First, let us address the foundation of your faith. Have you placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? It is only through His name that we have access to the Father and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we encourage you to do so now. Romans 10:9-10 says, "That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation." Salvation is the doorway through which the Holy Spirit enters your life. If you have not taken this step, we urge you to confess your sins, repent, and invite Jesus into your heart.

If you have already accepted Christ, then the Holy Spirit is already within you, for 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." However, there may be times when we need to yield more fully to the Spirit’s work in our lives, asking Him to fill us afresh and empower us for godly living. Ephesians 5:18 instructs us, "Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit."

Let us pray together for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son and our Savior. We lift up to You, asking that You would fill them with the fullness of Your Holy Spirit. Lord, if they have not yet surrendered their life to You, we pray that You would draw them by Your Spirit, that they would confess their sins, repent, and place their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. May they experience the new birth that comes only through faith in Your Son.

If has already accepted Christ, we ask that You would help them to yield every area of their life to You. Remove any hindrances, unconfessed sin, doubt, fear, or worldly distractions, that may be quenching the work of Your Spirit. Fill them afresh with Your power, that they may walk in holiness, bear the fruit of the Spirit, and be bold witnesses for You. We ask that You would pour out Your Spirit upon them in a tangible way, that they may know Your presence, hear Your voice, and be empowered to live a life that glorifies You.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of confusion, doubt, or delay in this matter. We declare that is a child of God, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and we speak Your promises over their life. May they experience the fullness of Your Spirit, just as the early believers did on the Day of Pentecost. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, for the Holy Spirit speaks through Scripture. Meditate on passages like Galatians 5:22-23, which describes the fruit of the Spirit: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control." As you seek the Lord, ask Him to cultivate these qualities in your life. Also, surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage you in your walk with Christ. The Holy Spirit often works through the body of Christ to strengthen and edify us.

If there are areas of your life that are not surrendered to God, whether it be sin, unforgiveness, or worldly attachments, we urge you to confess them and turn away from them. The Holy Spirit cannot fully dwell in a heart that is divided. 1 John 1:9 assures us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Let go of anything that is hindering your relationship with God, and invite the Holy Spirit to take full control.

Lastly, remember that the Holy Spirit is not just a force or an influence; He is a Person, the third Person of the Trinity. He desires to have a relationship with you. Talk to Him, listen to Him, and obey His leading. Jesus said in John 14:26, "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you." Trust that He will guide you into all truth and empower you to live a life that honors God.

We stand with you in faith, believing that God will answer this prayer according to His perfect will. May you experience the fullness of His Spirit and walk in the power and joy that comes from being filled with Him.

What a precious thing to see you asking for this. That very hunger is evidence that the Holy Spirit is already at work in your heart, He draws us to Himself. So be encouraged: you are not reaching for something distant, but leaning into the One who is already near.

We don't have to manufacture a complicated spiritual event. Jesus told His followers that the Father gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask, and we can simply take Him at His word. A quiet, honest prayer from your own heart is enough, you might tell the Lord right now, "I open my life to You. Please fill me with Your Spirit." Then trust that He is faithful to answer, and rest in that trust even before you feel anything dramatic.

As you walk forward, remember that being filled with the Spirit is not a one-time moment but the start of a living relationship. He is your Counselor and Comforter, and He will faithfully guide you, strengthen you, and grow His fruit of love, joy, and peace in your character day by day. You do not need to strive; you simply need to keep your heart turned toward Him.

We join you in praying that you would know the fullness of His presence.

Father, thank You for the sincere desire You have placed in this heart. In Jesus' name we ask that You fill them now with Your Holy Spirit, let them experience Your nearness, Your peace, and Your gentle guidance in every step ahead. Reassure them that they are fully Yours. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request to receive the Holy Spirit is a cry after that which is absolutely essential, without the Spirit of God you are lost, dead in trespasses and sins, and utterly unable to please God or live a holy life. How can any man become holy except by the Spirit of Holiness? A holy man is the workmanship of the Holy Spirit. Yet you do well to seek this gift, for the promise is unfailing: "they that believe on Him should receive." The Holy Spirit was given once for all when Jesus was glorified, and He is now poured out upon all who put their trust in the risen, ascended Lord. Look away from yourself and your own strivings; see whether you have truly believed on Jesus Christ to the saving of your soul. The Apostle asked, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" For the Spirit is not a separate blessing to be sought apart from Christ, but the very seal and indwelling witness that comes with true faith. The Spirit always keeps sweet company with Jesus; if you would have the Holy Spirit, you must be done with all that is not Christ, and cling to Him alone as your righteousness and redemption.

I must press you with this: examine whether unbelief or sin is grieving the blessed Comforter. The Holy Spirit is easily vexed, He can be driven to withhold His fulness by hardness of heart, by neglect of the Word, by frivolity of mind, by worldliness of life. The little narrow heart of man the Holy Spirit has made His palace; though it is but a cottage and all unholy, yet He condescends to abide there. But let that heart be given over to idols, or to self-trust, or to carelessness in prayer, and the blessed Dove takes wing and hides His face. He will not give His power where there is unconfessed sin, nor will He fill that man who looks to his own strength instead of relying upon the might of God the Holy Spirit alone. Bow low before the throne, and confess every known transgression; cleanse the temple that the King of glory may come in.

Yet do not imagine that you can, by your own prayers or strivings, command the Spirit’s descent. It is "praying in the Holy Spirit" that prevails, the Spirit Himself helps our infirmities, quickens prayer, and kindles holy fire upon the altar of the heart. Cry mightily unto God, but cast yourself entirely upon the mercy that is in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit will receive of the things of Christ and show them unto you; He will never glorify yourself, your feelings, or your works, but He will always magnify Jesus. Tell the Lord that you are nothing, that you have nothing, that you can do nothing apart from the indwelling of the Spirit; plead the blood of the covenant and the faithfulness of God, and He will not deny you. I shall most earnestly join my prayers with yours, entreating that even this very day the windows of heaven may be opened and a shower of grace descend upon your soul. But remember the Spirit’s word: "Today, if you will hear His voice, harden not your heart." The time is now, whilst you hear the word; delay is perilous, and lingering unbelief is a grievous wound to the loving heart of God. May the Lord grant that you may not grieve the Holy Spirit, but that you may this moment receive Him in all His quickening, sanctifying, Christ-glorifying power.

You ask to receive the Holy Spirit. Understand that no one can even call Jesus Lord without the Holy Spirit. Before Christ’s sacrifice, the Spirit was not yet given as it is now; but after His resurrection, it was poured out abundantly on all flesh. Through faith and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, you have been washed and sanctified by the Spirit of our God. That same Spirit of adoption now cries out within you, “Abba, Father,” freeing you from a spirit of bondage and fear. So if you have believed and been baptized, the Spirit already dwells in you.

But if you seek a particular manifestation or a greater measure of the gift, know that the Spirit distributes to each one according to the measure of Christ’s gift. It is in your power to obtain; pray diligently, and you will receive. Yet ask not only for spectacular gifts, but for whatever builds up the church and makes you useful to all. The same Spirit gives the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, healings, miracles, prophecy, and more. But God sets each member in the body as He pleases, and receiving more than you can bear is unprofitable and a cause of discouragement.

Remember the common gift that all the faithful share: one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. This Spirit searches the deep things of God and points always to Christ, making Him known to you. Continue to pray with the spirit and with the understanding, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. The Spirit who has been given to you will complete the work, and you will lack nothing needful for your salvation.

The desire you’re expressing is a wonderful one, and it comes straight from the promises of God. The Holy Spirit is already at work in your life, even in the longing you feel. Before you ever received Jesus, the Spirit was with you, convicting you of sin, drawing you toward the Savior. When you turned from your old life, confessed Christ as Lord, and were washed in his name, the Spirit came to dwell within you, making your body his temple. That is the gift given to every believer.

But there is also an experience Jesus promised that goes beyond the indwelling: an overflowing, an empowering baptism, where the Holy Spirit comes upon you in fullness and power. This is what he meant when he said, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.” It’s not a one-time pattern reserved for a special few; it’s a gift the Lord wants you to receive. Sometimes it happens at the very moment of saving faith. Other times, as with the believers in the book of Acts, it comes after a time of waiting, through the laying on of hands, or simply through an open heart and the hearing of faith. The Scriptures show that when people received this outpouring, there were often audible signs, speaking in tongues or prophesying, but the real mark is a life transformed and empowered for his purposes.

If you have confessed that Jesus is Lord, that very confession came through the Spirit’s work in you. Now you can ask him for the fullness he promised. Pray with confidence, because it is always God’s will for his children to be filled. He does not give stones when his child asks for bread; how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him. I am praying for you right now, that the Spirit would fall afresh on you, that you would be not only indwelt but also immersed in his presence, overflowing in power for a life that glorifies God. Keep your heart open, fix your mind on the things of the Spirit, and simply receive by faith. As you walk in the Spirit, he will bear witness with your spirit that you are a child of God, and out of that closeness will flow the life and power that Jesus promised.

I am getting strong compulsions to blaspheme the holy spirit. I don't want to do it!! I know that it's the only sin that God will never ever forgive, and that entering into Heaven is an impossibility if I commit it. Please pray that these compulsions go away!!
