Getting extra help. In “pain”

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Hi. I’ve been through financial/emotional abuse enmeshment. The controlling parent passed away some years ago but I still need help undoing the damage that they caused. Excessive criticism and was coerced into caring for them until they died. This parent was so greedy and demanding that I resent them for making me their slave. If they hadn’t been so controlling I would have taken care of them without resentment in my heart. This person sided with abusive bosses against me and blamed me. I stayed in the abusive workplace because it mirrored my life at home. I’m in need of additional help to work through my feelings. I am open to Biblical counseling but I need something like trauma therapy to “get things” off my chest. I feel cheated and had no outside support because my extended relative treated me the same way. I feel like I’m going to wither away under the stress and memories. Please pray for me in Jesus name that I don’t pick up any addictions to numb the pain.

We hear the deep pain and exhaustion in your words, and our hearts ache with you as we come before the Lord together. The wounds of financial and emotional abuse, enmeshment, and coercion run deep, and the resentment you carry is not only understandable but also a heavy burden to bear. The Scripture tells us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone in this, and the Lord sees every tear you have shed. He is the God who hears the cries of the oppressed and the One who promises to bind up the brokenhearted (Isaiah 61:1).

The control and manipulation you endured were not of God, for He gives us free will and calls us to love, not to enslave. The greed and demands of your parent were a distortion of the parent-child relationship, which should reflect the love and care of our Heavenly Father. We rebuke the spirit of control and manipulation that sought to steal your joy, your peace, and your sense of worth. We declare that you are no longer a slave to those patterns or to the lies that have told you that you are unworthy of love or freedom. Galatians 5:1 reminds us, "Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." You are free in Christ, and we pray that you would walk in that freedom daily.

It is also clear that the workplace abuse you endured mirrored the pain of your home life, and this only compounded the trauma. The Lord sees how you were sinned against, not only by your parent but also by those who should have stood up for you. We rebuke the spirit of blame that was placed upon you and declare that you are not responsible for the sins of others. Romans 12:19 tells us, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" We trust that God will bring justice and healing in His perfect timing.

We strongly encourage you to seek out biblical trauma counseling, as you mentioned, and to find a safe space to process these wounds. The Lord often uses godly counselors, pastors, and therapists as vessels of His healing. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." You do not have to carry this alone, and it is not a sign of weakness to ask for help—it is a sign of wisdom and courage. We also pray that the Lord would lead you to a community of believers who can walk alongside you, offering support, prayer, and encouragement. You deserve to be surrounded by people who reflect the love of Christ, not the toxicity you have known.

We also lift up your fear of turning to addictions to numb the pain. The enemy would love nothing more than to see you seek solace in things that only bring temporary relief but lead to deeper bondage. We pray that the Lord would fill you with His peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and that He would satisfy your heart with His love so that you have no desire to turn to anything else. We declare that you are not destined to wither away under the weight of these memories. Isaiah 40:31 says, "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint." We pray that you would experience that renewal and strength as you wait on the Lord.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our dear brother/sister, lifting up every wound, every memory, and every burden they carry. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who heals. We ask that You would draw near to them in this season and wrap Your arms of comfort around them. Father, we rebuke every spirit of control, manipulation, and blame that has sought to define their life, and we declare that they are free in Christ. Break every chain of resentment, bitterness, and unforgiveness, and replace those heavy burdens with Your peace and Your love.

Lord, we pray for healing in the deepest places of their heart. Where there has been abuse, bring restoration. Where there has been neglect, bring Your nurturing love. Where there has been isolation, bring community. Father, lead them to the right counselors, therapists, and believers who can walk with them in this journey. Give them the courage to speak their pain and the wisdom to receive godly counsel. Protect their heart from the temptation to numb the pain through addictions, and instead, fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who brings true comfort and joy.

We ask that You would rewrite the narrative of their life, Lord. Where the enemy has sought to steal, kill, and destroy, we declare that You have come to give life abundantly (John 10:10). Help them to see themselves through Your eyes—as Your beloved child, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Father, we trust that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28), even the pain of their past. Bring beauty from these ashes, Lord, and let them rise stronger, freer, and more dependent on You.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who bore our griefs and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4). May Your healing power flow through every part of their life, and may they know that they are never alone, for You are with them always. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, dear friend, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this journey. We understand that the pain you're feeling is deep and the wounds are still raw. It's like you've been carrying a heavy backpack filled with stones, each one representing a hurtful word, a manipulative action, or a moment of betrayal. It's exhausting, and it's okay to feel overwhelmed.

We want to remind you of something powerful, though. In Matthew 11:28-29, Jesus says, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Jesus is inviting you to lay down that heavy backpack at His feet. He's strong enough to carry it for you.

We also want to encourage you to keep seeking professional help. Trauma therapy can be a safe space where you can process these wounds and begin to heal. It's like having a trusted friend walk beside you, helping you navigate the tough terrain. Remember, it's not a sign of weakness to ask for help; it's a sign of strength and courage.

And please, keep communicating with us. We're here to listen, to pray with you, and to support you in any way we can. You're a part of our family now, and we care about you deeply.

Let's keep praying together, shall we? "Dear Lord, we come before You today, carrying the heavy backpack of our friend's pain. Lord Jesus, You said, 'My yoke is easy and my burden is light.' We ask that You would take this burden from them, that they might find rest in You. Help them to trust in Your love and care, even in the midst of their pain. Give them the strength to keep seeking help and healing. Surround them with Your peace, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect, heal and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We are deeply moved by your courage in sharing such a heavy burden with us, and we are honored that you allowed us to stand in the gap for you in prayer these past days. Your journey through financial and emotional abuse, enmeshment, and the lingering pain of control has clearly left deep wounds, and we have prayed earnestly for God’s healing touch to begin to mend what was broken.

We have lifted up your heart before the Lord, asking Him to soften the resentment, lift the weight of past criticism, and replace the bitterness with His peace. We prayed for wisdom as you seek the right help—whether through Biblical counseling, trauma therapy, or a trusted support system—to help you process these emotions in a way that brings true freedom. We asked the Holy Spirit to guard your heart from any temptation to numb the pain in unhealthy ways and to fill you instead with His comfort and strength.

If God has already begun to answer these prayers—whether through a sense of His presence, a breakthrough in understanding, or even small moments of relief—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. If the burden still feels heavy or the path forward unclear, please know that we are here to continue praying with you. You are not alone in this, and we will keep standing with you in faith, trusting that God sees your pain and is working even now to restore what was lost.

May He draw near to you in this season, surround you with His love, and lead you step by step into the healing and wholeness He has promised. We commit to praying for you until you experience the fullness of His peace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
