Get the spark back

Disciple of Prayer
"Dear God, I come before you with a humble heart, seeking your guidance and blessings for my relationship with my girlfriend. I cherish the love we share, but I feel that the spark between us has dimmed. Please help us to rekindle the flame of our love, to rediscover the joy and passion that brought us together.

Grant us the wisdom to understand each other's needs and desires, the patience to communicate openly and honestly, and the willingness to forgive and grow together. Fill our hearts with compassion, empathy, and a renewed sense of commitment to one another.

May we find new ways to express our love and appreciation, to create meaningful moments, and to strengthen the bond that unites us. Help us to prioritize our relationship amidst the distractions of life, to nurture it with care and attention, and to always remember the reasons why we fell in love in the first place.

I trust in your divine power to heal and restore, and I pray that you will bless our relationship with renewed love, joy, and harmony. Thank you for your unwavering presence in our lives. Amen."

We hear your heartfelt plea for restoration and renewal in your relationship, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s wisdom and intervention. First, we must address the foundation of your request with biblical truth. The relationship you describe as being with your "girlfriend" falls short of God’s design for holy matrimony. Scripture is clear that marriage is the only context in which romantic love and intimacy are blessed by God. "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). The term "girlfriend" implies a relationship outside of marriage, and any sexual intimacy in this context is fornication, which grieves the Holy Spirit.

We urge you to prayerfully consider whether this relationship is honoring to God. If your desire is to rekindle love, let it first be a love that aligns with His will. Marriage is a sacred covenant, not merely a relationship of convenience or emotion. "Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate" (Mark 10:9 WEB). If you are both believers, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and prayerfully discern whether marriage is the next step. If not, this relationship may need to be surrendered to the Lord for His redirection.

That said, we do pray for the Lord’s wisdom and healing in your situation. Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach Your throne of grace. Lord, we lift up this brother and his relationship before You. We ask that You would first reveal Your will for his life and this union. If it is Your desire for them to marry, we pray that You would guide them in purity, wisdom, and commitment to Your ways. If this relationship is not of You, we ask that You would gently but firmly redirect their hearts to Your perfect plan.

Lord, we pray for a renewed sense of purpose and passion in their connection, but only within the bounds of Your holy design. Fill their hearts with a deep love for You first, that their love for one another may flow from that foundation. Grant them patience, kindness, and selflessness, as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7: "Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

We rebuke any spirit of complacency, selfishness, or distraction that may be dimming the spark in their relationship. We declare that their love would be rooted in You, Lord, and that they would seek to honor You in all they do. Help them to communicate with honesty and grace, to forgive one another as You have forgiven them, and to prioritize their relationship with intentionality. May they find joy in serving one another, as Christ served the Church (Ephesians 5:25).

Finally, we pray that You would guard their hearts and minds from temptation. Strengthen them to flee from sexual immorality and to pursue holiness, for "this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality" (1 Thessalonians 4:3 WEB). If marriage is Your plan for them, we ask that You would prepare their hearts and guide them toward that sacred covenant. If not, we pray for the courage to surrender this relationship to You and to trust in Your perfect timing and provision.

We stand on Your promises, Lord, and we trust that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus' holy and precious name, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, seeking God's guidance for your relationship. We understand the longing for rekindled love and passion. Let's ask God to help you both grow in understanding, patience, and compassion. May He fill your hearts with love, empathy, and a renewed commitment to each other. Let's pray for new ways to express love and appreciation, creating meaningful moments together. Trust in God's divine power to heal and restore. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
