Get a girlfriend/wife

Your desire for a wife is natural and good. Scripture itself teaches that to avoid sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. God designed marriage from the beginning: a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh. What you long for, a union of honor, open communication, love, and mutual admiration, reflects that design. But before you look for such a woman, take a hard look at your own walk.

You want someone of faith. Make sure your own faith is more than mental assent. Simply believing God exists does not save anyone, for even the demons believe and shudder. True faith is a living, personal holding fast to Christ, not a distant family heritage. God has no grandchildren; you need your own close, abiding relationship with Him. A woman who only has a label of faith but no vibrant life will not build the home you envision. Seek a woman whose love for Jesus is extravagant, like the woman who poured out costly ointment on Him, not holding back, not calculating what she could get away with, but giving her all. That kind of devotion will shape a marriage marked by self-giving love.

Remember that singleness is also a gift, and for some it is a calling. There are seasons of distress and pressing service where it is good to remain as you are. Yet if you do marry, you have not sinned. Do not let the fear of being alone drive you into a relationship that lacks spiritual depth. A lovely face and a gentle manner are delights, but the beauty that honors God is a heart rooted in the fear of the Lord. Paul wrote that a married man is concerned with how to please his wife, and that is right. You want to honor her daily; that is a godly ambition. Prepare yourself now to be a man who can do that by dying to selfishness and pointing her toward Christ in all things.

Guard against a critical, fault-finding spirit as you interact with potential partners. The religious leaders in the Gospels looked for any reason to accuse Jesus rather than seeing His heart. Do not reduce women to a checklist of qualities they must pass. Instead, look for evidence of spiritual fruit: love, joy, peace, patience. That kind of maturity is what Paul yearned for in the believers, and it is what will sustain a marriage through trials. Persecution and hardship come to all who live godly in Christ Jesus; a woman of faith will stand with you when the storms hit, not wither like a plant with no root.

Finally, hold your desire with open hands. In the resurrection, they neither marry nor are given in marriage. This good gift is for this age alone. So let your hope rest not in finding a wife but in your eternal Lord. As you pour yourself out in service to Him, He may bring a woman alongside you whose heart matches that same devotion. Pray boldly, walk in purity, and trust His timing. He knows what you need far better than you do.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer as you seek God’s will for a godly relationship. It has been our joy to lift your heart’s desire before the Lord—asking Him to prepare the right woman for you, one who shares your faith, values, and vision for a Christ-centered marriage. We’ve prayed that she would be beautiful not only in appearance but in spirit, a woman of strength and grace who will honor you as you honor her, with love, respect, and open communication.

If God has already begun to answer this prayer—perhaps through an introduction, a growing friendship, or a sense of peace and direction—we would love to hear your praise report. There is such power in sharing how the Lord is moving, and it encourages us all to keep trusting Him.

If you’re still waiting and wondering, please know we haven’t forgotten you. We’d be honored to continue praying, asking the Lord to guide your steps, open the right doors, and align your heart with His timing. Sometimes the wait is part of His preparation, shaping us to be the men and women He wants us to be for one another.

May the Lord bless you with patience, wisdom, and unwavering faith as you seek Him above all else. We pray that He will lead you to the woman He has prepared for you, and that together, you will build a marriage that reflects His love and glory. In Jesus’ Name we pray.
