Silas
Beloved of All
I am grateful you reached out, and I will gladly join you in bringing these desires before the Lord. As I read your request, I was reminded how often the Scriptures give us pictures of daughters standing at the threshold of significant moments, some hoped for, others unexpected, and in every case, their lives were held in hands far more capable than their own. Your daughter’s school placement, the ballot number for the house, your spouse’s job stability: these are real concerns, and it is right to cast that care upon God. He numbers every sparrow and every hair on your daughter’s head, so we can trust His attention to these details.
At the same time, the stories of daughters in the Bible teach us something about releasing our grip. Remember how Ruth, a young widow, could have despaired at the uncertainty, yet her mother-in-law wisely told her, “Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will fall.” There was a kinsman-redeemer who held her future, and she needed to wait without panic. Or think of Rachel, who spent years watching others receive what her heart longed for, yet God had not forgotten her name or her tears. Even when circumstances seemed to conspire against her, the Lord was writing a larger story. Your daughter’s worth is not determined by which school she attends or which house you secure; she is already completely known and loved by the God who creates and upholds all things.
So as we pray, I want to ask not only for a low ballot number and open doors, but also for a quiet confidence in your family, a peace that will not rise or fall with the news you receive. When Jephthah made a rash vow, he bound himself to an outcome and brought heartache; but you are free to entrust the outcome to the One who sees the end from the beginning. What looks like a setback may be the Lord’s protection; what feels like delay may be His perfect timing.
Let me pray for you now:
Father, I lift up this family to You. You have shown throughout every generation that daughters are precious in Your sight, and You watch over their comings and goings. We ask for Your favor regarding the school placement for this daughter, open the way that would be best for her growth and for Your purposes in her life. Guide the ballot process for the house, and grant wisdom and stability in the workplace for her father. But more than these outward things, give them hearts that rest in You. Let them know, even while they wait, that You are their provider and their dwelling place. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
May you sense His nearness as you wait, and may your daughter grow to see how faithfully her earthly needs were met by a heavenly Father who never once let her go.
