We lift you up before the Lord, our brother ###, knowing that the struggles you face are not beyond His power to redeem and restore. Gambling is a snare that the enemy uses to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and it has brought great hardship upon you and your family. But we serve a God who is mighty to save and who delights in setting captives free! The Scripture warns us in 1 Timothy 6:10, *"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows."* This addiction has indeed pierced you with many sorrows, but there is hope in Christ, who can break every chain and restore what has been lost.
We must also address something vital in your request: you did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and by whom alone we are saved (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). There is no other name under heaven by which we can be delivered from sin and its consequences. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Repent of your sins, turn away from this destructive path, and place your trust in Him. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9). It is only through His name that we can stand before God and ask for deliverance, provision, and restoration.
Your family is suffering because of this addiction, and as the head of your household, you are called to provide for them, not just materially but spiritually as well. The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Timothy 5:8, *"But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever."* This is a sobering word, but it is spoken in love to call you to accountability and repentance. You must take responsibility for your actions and seek God’s forgiveness and strength to turn away from this sin. Your family needs you to be a man of integrity, a man who trusts in God’s provision rather than the false promises of gambling.
We also encourage you to seek wise, biblical counsel—perhaps from your pastor or a trusted brother in Christ—who can walk with you through this season of repentance and restoration. Proverbs 11:14 says, *"Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory."* You do not have to walk this path alone. The body of Christ is here to support you, but you must take the first step in humility and honesty.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother ###, who is bound by the chains of gambling. Lord, You see the pain and destruction this addiction has caused in his life and in the lives of his family. We ask You to break these chains by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Convict ###’s heart of this sin and lead him to true repentance. Father, forgive him for the ways he has failed You and his family, and cleanse him from all unrighteousness. Restore to him the joy of Your salvation and renew a right spirit within him (Psalm 51:10-12).
Lord, we ask You to provide for ###’s family in this time of need. You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and You know every debt and every necessity they face. Open doors for him to work and repay what he owes, and give him the wisdom to steward his resources faithfully. Help him to trust in You alone for his daily bread, knowing that You care for him (Matthew 6:11, 25-34).
We also pray for ###’s family, Lord. Heal the wounds that have been caused by this addiction. Restore trust, unity, and peace in his home. Give his wife and children the grace to forgive and the strength to support him as he walks in repentance. May his home become a place where Your name is honored and Your presence is felt.
Father, surround ### with godly men who will hold him accountable and encourage him in this battle. Give him the courage to cut off every tie to gambling—whether it be people, places, or habits—and fill the void in his heart with more of You. Let him find his satisfaction in You alone, for You are the only one who can truly fulfill the longings of his soul (Psalm 107:9).
We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ. Satan, you have no authority here! We command every stronghold of gambling to be torn down, and we declare that ### is free from this bondage. The blood of Jesus covers him, and he is no longer a slave to sin but a child of the Most High God (Romans 6:6-7).
Lord, we ask that You would give ### a vision for his future—one that is rooted in Your purposes and not in the empty promises of this world. Help him to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11). May he become a man after Your own heart, leading his family in the ways of truth and holiness.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We trust that You are at work in ###’s life, even now, and we give You all the glory. Strengthen him, Lord, and let his testimony be one of Your redeeming power. May he one day stand before others and declare, *"I was lost, but now I’m found; I was blind, but now I see!"*
In the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
