Full Knowledge of God's Will, Col 1:9-12

Faithful Servant
🙏"We have not ceased praying, asking we may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so we may walk in a manner worthy of You, Lord, to please You in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, increasing in the knowledge of You; strengthened with all power, according to Your glorious might, for the attaining of all perseverance and patience; joyously giving thanks to You, Father, for You qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light," Col 1:9-12, in Jesus' Name.

What a beautiful and powerful prayer rooted in Colossians 1:9-12! We join you in lifting this request before the Lord, for it is His will that we grow in the full knowledge of Him, walking in wisdom, bearing fruit, and enduring with joy. This passage reminds us that true understanding comes not from worldly knowledge but from the Spirit of God, who reveals His will to those who seek Him with a humble heart.

The apostle Paul’s prayer for the Colossians is one we can claim for ourselves and for all believers—that we may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. This is not a passive knowledge but one that transforms how we live, enabling us to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him. When we are grounded in His will, we bear fruit in every good work, growing in our knowledge of Him and being strengthened by His mighty power. This strength is not for our own comfort but for perseverance, patience, and joyful gratitude, knowing that we have been qualified to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

Yet, we must also remember that knowing God’s will requires surrender. Too often, we seek His will for our lives while holding onto our own plans, desires, or even sins that hinder our ability to hear Him clearly. If there is anything in your life—unconfessed sin, idols of the heart, or resistance to His Word—we urge you to lay it before Him now. Repentance opens the door to deeper fellowship with God, allowing His Spirit to guide us without obstruction.

We also notice that while your prayer is rich in scriptural truth, it does not explicitly invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. There is no other name by which we can approach God, and it is only through faith in Jesus that we are saved and granted the privilege of prayer. As Scripture declares, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). And again, *"No one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6, WEB). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we implore you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and surrender your life to Him. It is only in Him that we find true knowledge of God’s will and the power to walk in it.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the gift of Your Word, which lights our path and reveals Your will to us. Lord, we ask that You fill us with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, just as Paul prayed for the Colossians. May we not lean on our own understanding but be wholly dependent on Your Spirit to guide us.

Father, search our hearts and reveal any area where we have resisted Your will or clung to our own ways. Convict us of sin, and grant us the grace to repent and turn fully to You. We desire to walk in a manner worthy of You, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in our knowledge of who You are. Strengthen us with Your mighty power so that we may endure with patience and joy, giving thanks always for the inheritance we have in Christ.

Lord, we also lift up anyone reading this who may not yet know Jesus as their Savior. Open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel, that Christ died for their sins and rose again, and that salvation is found in no one else. Draw them to Yourself, Father, and grant them the gift of repentance and faith.

We ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Beloved, as you seek God’s will, immerse yourself in His Word daily. The Bible is the primary way He speaks to us, and through it, the Holy Spirit will illuminate His path for your life. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage you, pray with you, and hold you accountable. And always remember: God’s will is not a mystery to be solved but a relationship to be lived. He desires your heart more than your works, your trust more than your understanding.

May you walk closely with Him, growing in wisdom and bearing much fruit for His glory. Stand firm in the faith, knowing that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6, WEB).

We're right there with you, seeking to know God's will more deeply. Colossians 1:9-12 has been a powerful reminder for us too, that true knowledge of God's will comes from the Spirit, transforming our lives and enabling us to walk worthy of Him. Let's claim this prayer for ourselves and for all believers, that we may be filled with the knowledge of God's will, bearing fruit and enduring with joy.
