Beloved of All
But what of the Good God who is involved in our affairs? Consider how the powers of state are managed—and our own role in achieving better guidance and direction. Think of the region of Jerusalem and the dialogue with the Lord and the angels—how is this understood by the leaders of nations and the people within them? But what of me—what is it that I need?

We hear the loneliness and the deep searching in your heart as you ask about the Good God and His involvement in our affairs, and we join with you to seek His will together in Jesus' name.

You ask a profound question that Scripture answers clearly, that God is not distant or uninvolved but sovereign over all human affairs. He changes the times and the seasons, He removes kings and sets up kings, He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding Daniel 2:21. There is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God Romans 13:1. The powers of the state are managed under His sovereign hand, even when leaders do not acknowledge Him, for the king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses, He turns it wherever He desires Proverbs 21:1. This does not mean every act of government is righteous, but it means God is able to guide, restrain, and judge nations according to His purposes.

Our own role in achieving better guidance and direction is first to humble ourselves before Him and to pray. We are exhorted to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks for all men, for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence 1 Timothy 2:1-2. We are also called to seek the welfare of the place where God has put us and to live righteously, to seek first God's Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to us as well Matthew 6:33. Better guidance does not come from human wisdom alone, but from seeking the Lord, walking in obedience to His Word, and being salt and light in our communities.

You mention the region of Jerusalem and the dialogue with the Lord and the angels and how this is understood by leaders and peoples. Jerusalem holds a unique place in God's redemptive plan, the city where He placed His name, and we are called to pray for the peace of Jerusalem Psalm 122:6. Yet we must understand that God's revelation comes through His Word and through His Son, not through secret angelic dialogues sought by nations. Angels are ministering spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation Hebrews 1:14, they serve God's purposes, they do not guide nations apart from God. Many leaders and peoples do not understand these things because the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ should not dawn on them 2 Corinthians 4:4. Without the Spirit of God, spiritual truths are not discerned, and so nations often look to their own counsel instead of the Lord's.

And you ask so honestly, what is it that I need. We believe your deepest need, and the need of every lonely heart, is not only better understanding of world affairs but personal reconciliation with the Good God Himself. God is near to the lonely, for Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18, and God sets the lonely in families Psalm 68:6. What you need most is to know Him through Jesus Christ, to have His presence, His forgiveness, and His guidance in your own life. He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1.

We notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Him that we have access to God. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. This is the foundation for knowing God's will for nations, for Jerusalem, and for your own life.

So we pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You only through the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You that You are the Good God who sees and governs the affairs of men and nations. We ask for Your mercy on the powers of the state, that You would give wisdom to leaders and turn their hearts toward righteousness and justice. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for all peoples in that region, that Your purposes would be fulfilled and that many would come to know Your Son. We pray for this dear one who feels lonely and is searching for what is needed most. Draw near to them, reveal Yourself as Father, forgive their sins through the blood of Jesus, fill their loneliness with Your presence, and guide them by Your Holy Spirit and Your Word. Teach us all to seek first Your kingdom and to trust Your sovereign hand. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to stay in His Word daily, to pray for your leaders and for Jerusalem, and to seek fellowship with other believers who can walk with you, for God has not called us to walk alone. Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, and keep seeking Him with your whole heart, for you will find Him when you seek Him with all your heart Jeremiah 29:13.

We noticed how you are carrying both large questions and a quiet personal one. You wonder how God is at work in the affairs of nations and in Jerusalem, how leaders hear Him, and then you ask honestly, what about me, what do I need. Holding those together can feel lonely, and we are glad you reached out.

It makes sense that the big picture would weigh on you, and it is also good to turn that last question over to the Lord Himself. He is not distant from either the world or from you. Often clarity comes not all at once but as we walk with Him day by day, in small faithful steps and in community with others who know us.

If it would help, this week try naming that personal need in one or two simple sentences before God, and then share it with one trusted pastor or mature believer in person so you are not carrying it alone. Regular time in worship with other believers can also ease that sense of isolation, reminding us we are part of a larger family.

Father, we lift our friend to You, lonely and seeking guidance. Show Yourself near, give wisdom for the next step, and provide companionship and direction for the days ahead. Lead gently and keep this heart close to You. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

You have asked what many lonely hearts ask when the world feels heavy and the counsels of nations seem beyond our reach. There is comfort in this, that the Good God is indeed involved in our affairs, not as a distant observer but as one who governs all things according to purpose.

Scripture teaches that in every event of providence God has a purpose. He is in one mind, and who can turn him. What his soul desireth, that he doeth. None of these things cometh by chance, nor out of order, but everything cometh according to the purpose of his own will. This is true of the powers of state and of the region of Jerusalem of which you speak. The Lord has not left the nations to themselves, nor has he left that city which he has set before the eyes of the world. Yet the leaders of nations and the people within them often do not understand the dialogue with the Lord and with angels, because their thoughts are contrary to God's thoughts and their ways are such as God cannot endure. Unless a man is taught of God, the Word preserved century after century remains a closed book to him, and he disregards it at his peril.

You ask also, what of me, what is it that I need. Here the question turns from empires to the soul, and that is where wisdom begins. Many are lonely, and that loneliness is keenly felt when human sympathy fails. Our Savior knew this loneliness when he was left alone just when most, as man, he needed fellowship. Yet the Father was with him even when he forsook him, with him in design when not with him in the smiles of his face, that his purpose and the Father's purpose in our redemption might be achieved. If you lament your loneliness, cure it by seeking heavenly company. The words of God's Book, made living to you by the Spirit, shall be to your mind as fellowship with angels and with God himself. God's people are often made lonely through obedience to honest convictions, but they are never truly alone.

What you need, then, is not first better guidance in statecraft, though God does guide, but to be made one of God's people. By nature we are not God's people, without his approval and following the devices of our own hearts. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's dear Son, cleanses from all sin. He is the clear witness of God's holiness and of God's love, and there is no other way of putting away sin. God's Word is true, every transgression shall receive its just recompense, and he will by no means spare the guilty, but he has provided a Savior. If you come beneath the cross and trustingly look up to God's dear Son, you shall be saved. This is salvation through Jesus Christ alone, received by personal faith, a personal cry of adoption and vital personal union to him.

When you are his, he will guide you with his counsel, and afterward receive you to glory. Be guided first by the general directions given in God's Word, then by the great principles he infuses, to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to his will. When you yield yourself to the holy influences of his presence, you shall have an illumination of mind which comes from dwelling near God. He has taught many from their youth, and those he teaches he also makes to declare his wondrous works, sometimes with the voice and sometimes with the life.

Therefore seek the Lord while he may be found. Confess your sin, trust the Lord Jesus who was delivered for sin and raised for justification, and ask him to take you into his school as his pupil. He will not cast you out. He will teach you, keep you, and make even your lonely hours to be full of his presence. May the Lord in mercy bring you from being not his people to being his people, give you to know your interest in the covenant of grace, and grant you personal service rendered to him out of love for personal mercies received.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
