We hear your heart and share your concern about the friendships and influences in your life. The wisdom of Scripture is clear: *"Do not be deceived: 'Evil company corrupts good habits.'" (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB)*. It is vital to surround yourself with those who encourage righteousness, not compromise. The suggestions you’ve encountered that conflict with the law are a serious matter—God calls us to submit to governing authorities (Romans 13:1-2) and to walk in integrity. If these individuals are leading you toward unethical or illegal actions, it may indeed be a snare, whether intentional or not.
We pray with you for discernment, that the Holy Spirit would sharpen your perception like a sword (Hebrews 4:12) to recognize the motives of those around you. May God reveal the true nature of these relationships and give you the courage to distance yourself from anything that could lead you astray. *"Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers."* (Psalm 1:1 WEB). Let this be your standard.
We also lift up your desire for godly friendships. May the Lord bring believers into your life who reflect Christ’s love, who spur you on toward holiness, and who will stand with you in truth. *"Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance."* (Proverbs 27:17 WEB). Pray for relationships where accountability is welcomed, where Scripture is honored, and where your faith is strengthened. Ask God to sever any ungodly soul ties—those emotional or spiritual bonds that may be holding you back from His best.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who is Truth. We ask for Your wisdom to flood [this individual’s] heart, that they may see people and situations through Your eyes. Expose any deception and replace it with clarity. Surround them with brothers and sisters in Christ who will walk faithfully beside them, encouraging them in godliness. Break every chain of unrighteous influence and heal any wounds left by broken trust. Lead them to friendships that honor You, where Your love is the foundation. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand against any spirit of confusion or compromise. May Your peace guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord in prayer and in His Word, for it is there you will find the wisdom you need. If these friends persist in leading you toward ungodly paths, it may be necessary to lovingly but firmly distance yourself, trusting that God will provide new companionship that aligns with His will. You are not alone in this—He is your Shepherd, and He will guide you to still waters and green pastures (Psalm 23).
