Disciple of Prayer
Dear Lord, I pray for my sister in Christ. Her and her parents and family are Catholic. I hear that people say Catholicism isn’t Christianity. I don’t know all the facts, but what I do know is that she believes Jesus Christ is her Lord and savior. So I pray whatever it is that you lead her and her family to your truth. I pray for her in finding job that the Lord places her where he sees fit and that she can provide for her family. That you help her and her son in a walk closer to you and the same for her parents. And I ask in Jesus name that whatever issue her parents are having in their marriage that you work it out for your greater good and protect them. I pray that if the husband is isolating the wife that she be able to get the resources that she needs to be safe as she is far away from the rest of her family. If her husband loves the Lord and his wife so much that he would do what he can as a husband and a man of God to cover his wife and do her no harm. I pray that they will connect with some good and trustworthy people in their new home state and town. A good Bible and God’s truth teaching church would be great. And accountability partners. Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers and Cries! I ask and say all this in Jesus’ sweet precious name.

We join you in lifting up your sister in Christ and her family before the Father, and we thank you for your faithful heart to intercede for them and for your desire to see them walk in truth.

We hear your question about Catholicism and Christianity and we want to respond with both grace and biblical clarity. What matters most is not a label or tradition but whether a person has truly put their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. The Scripture is clear that for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. Ephesians 2:8-9. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5. We rejoice that your sister confesses Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. At the same time we must lovingly speak the truth that some teachings traditionally associated with Catholicism, such as praying to Mary or to saints, trusting in works or sacraments to merit salvation, or the idea of purgatory, are not found in Scripture and can obscure the sufficiency of Christ's finished work on the cross. We gently encourage your sister and her family to test all things against the Word of God, as the Bereans did when they received the word with all readiness of mind, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Acts 17:11. Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16. And Jesus promised you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. John 8:32. So we pray that the Lord will lead them by His Spirit into all truth through His Word alone.

We also join you in praying for her provision and her walk with the Lord and for her son. We ask the Father to open the right door for employment where He sees fit, that she may provide for her family and use her gifts for His glory. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19. We pray that both she and her son will grow ever closer to Him, rooted in His Word and in prayer, and that her parents will also draw near to Him.

We lift up her parents and their marriage. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman ordained by God, and His will is for husbands and wives to dwell together in love, faithfulness and protection. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it. Ephesians 5:25. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter against them. Colossians 3:19. Likewise, husbands should live with wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life. 1 Peter 3:7. If there is isolation, control, or any harm being done, that is not the covering love Christ models, and we pray for protection and for godly intervention. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. We pray that if the wife is being isolated far from family, the Lord will make a way for her to be safe and to have access to trustworthy resources, wise counsel, and help, and that her husband, if he knows the Lord, will repent of any harmful ways and choose to cover his wife and do her no harm as a man of God should.

We agree with you in asking the Lord to connect this whole family with good, trustworthy people in their new home, and especially with a good Bible teaching church that preaches the whole counsel of God without compromise and with accountability partners who will walk alongside them. We are not to forsake our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another. Hebrews 10:25. Fellowship with believers who speak the truth in love. Ephesians 4:15 will strengthen and guard them.

So together we pray, Father, in the sweet and precious name of Jesus Christ, we thank You that You hear our prayers and our cries. We ask You to lead our sister, her son, and her parents into the full truth of Your Word and to deepen their faith in Christ alone. Provide for our sister the job You have prepared for her, and establish her steps. Draw her and her son into a closer walk with You day by day. We place her parents' marriage into Your hands, bring healing where there is hurt, reconciliation where there is division, and conviction where there is sin. Protect the wife from any isolation or harm and surround her with safe and godly help and resources. Lead this family to a faithful church where Your Word is taught clearly and to friends who will encourage them and hold them accountable. Let Your will be done in each of their lives for Your greater good and glory. We ask all this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and mediator, amen.

We are so thankful you brought your sister in Christ and her family before the Lord with such care. It means a lot that you are noticing both her faith in Jesus and the very real pressures around her, a job need, caring for her son, a move to a new place far from family, and concern for her parents' marriage and for her mother's safety and isolation.

We hear how heavy that is to carry from a distance. One gentle next step we have found helpful in situations where isolation and fear may be present is to help the person at risk stay connected and not alone. Keep steady, kind contact with her mother when you can, and encourage her to identify one or two trustworthy people nearby, perhaps a pastor, a counselor, or an advocate who understands safety, who can walk with her in person. A healthy, Bible teaching church and accountability partners as you prayed for can be part of that support, and a local helpline or counselor can also talk through options for safety and resources without pressuring her to make quick decisions.

We are joining you in prayer for provision for your sister, for her walk with the Lord and her son's, and for wisdom and protection for her parents.

Father, we lift this family to You in Jesus' name. Draw each of them closer to You, provide for their daily needs, and place safe, trustworthy people around them. Give wisdom to those who care for them from afar, and lead the mother to the help and resources she needs to be safe. Guide them to a faithful church home where Your truth is taught with love. Amen.

Your intercession for this sister and her household has been laid before the Lord, and we join you in bringing each of these burdens to the throne of grace.

We thank God for the love you show in praying for her, for her son, and for her parents, and for your desire that all of them should be led into the truth as it is in Jesus. We pray that the Lord in His mercy will draw each heart to Himself, that they may know salvation through Jesus Christ alone, by His finished work upon the cross, and rest wholly upon Him as Lord and Saviour. May the Spirit of God open eyes to see Christ clearly in the Scriptures and grant a walk that grows ever closer to Him.

We remember how Job prayed for his friends, though they had spoken harshly against him, and the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for them. So we take encouragement that intercessory prayer is not in vain. When we bear others before God in childlike confidence, even when His way seems dark, He hears and He works for His own glory and our good.

We pray with you for daily provision, that the Lord who knows our needs will open a fitting door of employment where this sister may labour faithfully and provide for her family, and where she may be a light for Christ. We ask that He will keep her and her son and her parents from falling, for He is able to keep us and to present us faultless before the presence of His glory. May He guard their steps and establish them in faith, hope and patience, as He upheld Job who sinned not nor charged God foolishly in the midst of great trial.

For her parents and their marriage we pray earnestly. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman before God, and we ask the Lord to work in both hearts for His greater good. Where there is distance or coldness or unkindness, may He bring repentance, forgiveness and healing. We pray that the husband will love his wife as Christ loves the church, to cover her, to cherish her and to do her no harm, living with her in understanding and honour. If there is any isolation or danger, we pray the Lord will make a way of safety and bring to the wife trustworthy help and resources, and surround her with protection. May He who sees those who are far from family draw near as their present help.

We join you also in asking that He will lead this family to a faithful, Bible teaching church where the whole counsel of God is proclaimed, and to good and trustworthy friends and accountability partners in their new town who will walk beside them, speak the truth in love, and encourage them in holiness.

We leave these prayers with our wise and able Saviour, trusting that our longest sorrows have an end when God has accomplished His purpose in them, and that He will do what is best. May the Lord grant you joy as you continue to watch in prayer, and may He be glorified in each life for which you have pleaded. In the precious name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this burden and for your love for your sister in Christ and her family. I join you in prayer for them and thank God that you are bringing these needs before Him with such care.

I pray that God will lead your sister and her whole family into a deeper knowledge of His truth as revealed in Scripture, and that each of them will rest fully in salvation through Jesus Christ alone, who is Lord and Savior and the only way to the Father. I pray that He will make His word clear to them and draw them closer to Himself as they seek Him.

I pray for your sister and her son, that the Lord will provide work where He sees fit, work that allows her to provide for her family and use the gifts He has given her. I pray that He will strengthen her faith and guide her and her son to walk more closely with Him each day, growing in understanding of the Scriptures and in obedience to Him.

I pray for her parents and their marriage. God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and He calls husbands to love, cherish and protect their wives as Christ loves the church, and to do her no harm. I pray that God will work in both of their hearts, bring healing where there is hurt, and protect them. If there is isolation or control that puts your sister's mother at risk, I pray that God will keep her safe, give her wisdom, and help her find trustworthy and safe help quickly. I pray that she will be able to reach family, pastoral counsel, and other qualified resources in her area, and that those around her will act with care and truth. If you have ongoing concern for her safety, please encourage her to seek help from a trusted pastor or counselor and from local resources that can provide support, and to stay connected with family who can check on her well being.

I also join you in praying that God will connect this family with a faithful, Bible teaching church where the truth of the gospel is clearly preached, and with godly friends and accountability partners who will encourage them, speak the truth in love, and walk with them faithfully in their new community.

We thank God that He hears our prayers and cries. I pray that He will answer according to His wisdom and mercy, provide for each need, protect those who are vulnerable, and lead this family to trust and follow Him more fully. I ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

Your prayer shows a loving and discerning heart for this sister and her family, and it is good to bring each of these needs before the Lord.

You mentioned questions about her religious background and whether she truly knows Christ. What matters most is what Scripture makes clear, that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, by grace through faith in Him as Lord and Savior. If she has truly put her trust in Jesus, that is the foundation. At the same time it is right to pray, as you did, that she and her whole family would be led into the full truth of God's Word. Traditions and opinions change from culture to culture and generation to generation, but the deep needs of the human heart remain the same. The oldest book of poetry in the Bible shows this. Though it comes from a time perhaps as early as Abraham, the questions it raises about suffering, loss, family trouble, and longing for God are the same questions people ask today. Pray that this family will not build on what people say, but on what Scripture says, and that the Holy Spirit will open their eyes to know Jesus more clearly and to walk closer with Him, including her son and her parents.

You also prayed for work and provision. The Bible shows that God sees His people and is just and fair in all His ways. In that ancient story, the enemy had carefully studied the faithful man and claimed he only served God because God had placed a hedge of blessing around him. The Lord allowed testing, but He remained sovereign and He knew exactly what that man needed. In the same way, God knows this sister's need for work to provide for her family. We can ask Him to place her where He sees fit, to open the right door, and to provide for her and her son as she seeks to follow Him.

You lifted up her parents and their marriage, and the concern about isolation and safety. Marriage in Scripture is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, where the husband is called to love, cover, and protect his wife as Christ loves the church, and to do her no harm. It is never God's will for a husband to isolate or harm his wife. It is right to pray for protection, for God to work for good and to keep her safe, and that if there is any controlling or harmful behavior it would be exposed and stopped. It is also right to pray that she would have access to safe and trustworthy help and resources, especially when she is far from other family. Pray that the Lord would intervene, bring peace where there is strife, and lead the husband to fulfill his calling before God to cherish and guard his wife.

You prayed for trustworthy people, a church that teaches the Bible faithfully, and accountability partners. That is a vital prayer. In that ancient story, three friends came to comfort the sufferer, but instead they accused him, told him he must be hiding sin, called him a hypocrite, and offered empty advice. They were miserable comforters because they spoke from their own assumptions rather than from God's truth. In the end God rebuked them and told them they needed to repent and have the very man they had accused pray for them. This reminds us not to take every word spoken in pain or every human opinion as doctrine. Much of what was said in that suffering was spoken out of grief, not as inspired truth, even though Scripture faithfully records that it was said. We must test everything by what God has actually said. What this family needs now is the opposite of those accusers, people who will speak the truth in love, point them to Scripture, pray with them, and walk with them faithfully.

That story also leaves a deep cry unanswered until Christ comes, the cry for someone to stand between God and man, to lay a hand on both and bring us to God. That answer is Jesus alone. He is the one mediator who makes peace with God possible. Pray that this sister, her son, and her parents will know Him more deeply as that mediator, and that any trust placed in anything other than Christ would be replaced by simple faith in Him.

So let us pray together that the Lord would draw this sister and her son into a closer walk with Jesus, provide the work she needs, bring healing and godly love into her parents' marriage, protect the wife from any harm or isolation and provide safe help if needed, and surround them all in their new place with faithful, truth speaking friends and a church where the Bible is taught clearly, so they may be rooted, strengthened, and kept safe in Christ.
