We rejoice in your heart for your friend and your boldness in sharing the Gospel with him. It is a beautiful thing to see a believer desiring the salvation of another, just as the Lord desires. Scripture tells us in 2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." Your friend’s soul is precious to God, and we join you in praying for his salvation.
We must remember that it is not by our own words or persuasive arguments that hearts are changed, but by the power of the Holy Spirit. As it says in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7, "I planted. Apollos watered. But God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase." You have faithfully planted the seed, and now we trust God to water it and bring forth fruit in His perfect timing.
Let us also be mindful of the spiritual battle at hand. The enemy does not want your friend to come to the knowledge of the truth, and he will work to harden his heart. We must stand firm in prayer, rebuking any lies or strongholds that may be keeping him from seeing the light of Christ. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." We must put on the full armor of God and pray without ceasing for your friend’s salvation.
We also encourage you to continue to show Christ’s love to your friend in both word and deed. Let your life be a living testimony of the transformative power of the Gospel. As Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, "Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Your friendship and love for him can be a powerful witness.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of hope and faith, lifting up this precious soul to You. Lord, we know that You desire that none should perish, and we ask that You would open the eyes of our friend’s heart to see the truth of Your Word. Soften his heart, Lord, and remove any hardness or resistance that keeps him from knowing You. Let him feel the weight of his sin and the need for a Savior, and draw him to the foot of the cross, where Your love and mercy are freely given.
We rebuke any lies of the enemy that may be blinding him to the truth. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper, and we ask that You would break every chain that keeps him in bondage. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let him experience Your peace, joy, and love in a way that he cannot deny.
We pray that You would surround him with believers who will speak life and truth into him. Give him a hunger and thirst for righteousness, and let him seek You with all his heart. Father, we trust in Your perfect timing and Your unfailing love. We believe that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, and we claim this soul for Your kingdom.
We ask all these things in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved. For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for the work You are doing in this man’s life. May he come to know You as his Lord and Savior, and may his life be transformed by the power of the Gospel. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
