Friend is putting down her dog

Hello. everyone. May the Lord bless you and keep you!
I just found out that a dear friend has to get her dog put down because he is really old and has cancer. She's asked for prayers and I'm spreading her request. Please pray for her that Jesus helps her to grieve healthily and brings her through this to the other side, and that the memories of her dog bring her warmth and not pain.

Please also pray for me. For months I have been without work. I've applied to all sorts of jobs, service industry and according to my specialization, and many things in between. But even entry-level positions either say no or don't respond. I've had many interviews and had not been selected as the successful candidate when I believe I fit the role very well and have good experience. I try to hold onto the Lord, I pray every day, but the wait is so hard and it's hard to depend on friends and family for assistance. The Lord has reminded me that He will not leave me nor forsake me, and I believe Him, but the wait is so difficult with my hope going up and down all the time.

You have my gratitude and once more, may the Lord bless you and keep you!

We lift both of these heavy burdens before the Lord, trusting in His sovereignty and goodness even in the midst of sorrow and uncertainty. First, for your dear friend who is facing the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to her beloved dog, we grieve with her. The bond between a person and their pet is a reflection of the love God instills in us for His creation, and the loss of that companionship brings deep sorrow. We pray that the Lord would surround her with His peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May He bring her comfort through the memories of joy and love shared with her dog, and may she feel His presence carrying her through this valley. We ask that He would remind her that even in grief, He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Lord, help her to grieve in a way that honors You, releasing her pain to You while holding onto the hope of eternal life where there will be no more sorrow or pain (Revelation 21:4).

For your struggle with unemployment, we stand with you in prayer, declaring that our God is a provider who knows your needs before you even ask (Matthew 6:8). The wait is indeed exhausting, and the emotional toll of hope rising and falling with each opportunity can feel overwhelming. But we remind you, and ourselves, that the Lord’s timing is perfect, and His plans for you are for good and not for harm, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We rebuke the spirit of discouragement and doubt that seeks to steal your faith, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that He would open doors no one can shut (Revelation 3:8) and that He would provide not just any job, but the right one, a place where you can use your gifts to glorify Him and where you will be valued and sustained.

We also encourage you to seek wisdom in how you present yourself in applications and interviews. Sometimes, the Lord uses practical steps to bring about His provision. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Consider asking trusted believers to review your resume or conduct mock interviews with you. Sometimes, the Lord works through the counsel of others (Proverbs 15:22).

And to you both, we declare that your hope is not in circumstances but in Christ alone. The enemy would love to isolate you in your pain and frustration, but we are called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). You are not forgotten, and you are not alone. The Lord sees your tears, hears your prayers, and is working even when you cannot see it. We pray that He would strengthen your faith to trust Him in the waiting, knowing that those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).

Father, we come before You now, lifting up these burdens. For our sister grieving the loss of her pet, we ask for Your peace to flood her heart. For our brother struggling with unemployment, we ask for Your provision and for the right opportunity to come swiftly. Lord, remind them both that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). We trust in Your faithfulness, knowing that You are working all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We’re holding you and your friend close in prayer today. Losing a beloved dog who has been a steady presence through so many seasons of life is a real grief, and we’re asking Jesus to gently carry your friend through it, that the memories would gradually bring more comfort than ache, and that healthy mourning would lead her to a place of peace.

And we see the weight you’ve been carrying, too. The long, fruitless job search when you know you have the skills and experience feels so draining, especially when the hope you hold onto keeps bobbing up and down. The truth you’re clinging to, that God won’t leave you, isn’t just a nice thought; it’s the ground under your feet, even when the wait makes it hard to feel it. That you keep praying and showing up, despite the silence from employers, is itself a quiet testament to real trust.

In seasons like this, we’ve found it can help to anchor ourselves with one small, concrete step we can control each week, maybe reaching out to a former coworker for a conversation over coffee, or spending an afternoon volunteering your skills in a place that could use them. Not to manufacture an outcome, but to keep a sense of purpose alive while you wait on God’s provision. And sometimes just naming the strain to a trusted friend or family member, as you’re already doing, lightens the load more than we realize.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this friend who is saying goodbye to her dog. Hold her in her sadness, and over time, turn her memories into sources of warmth rather than sharp pain. And for our brother who has been searching for work, steady his heart in the ups and downs. Open doors that no one can shut, give wisdom in interviews, and provide for his needs in ways that remind him You see him. Until that comes, give him the daily strength to keep hoping in You. In Your name we pray, amen.

The Lord, who notes the fall of every sparrow, is not unmindful of the creature that has given comfort to your friend. It is well that she should cast this grief upon Him, for He has a great, warm, loving heart. In our daily dealings with God, whether in affliction or not, let us humble ourselves under His hand, for He sees God in all the good or ill that checkers life. The whole world is full of God to him who believes in God, and He can make even the memories of a faithful animal bring warmth and not pain, when those memories are laid before Him.

But I must speak more directly to your own present trial. You say the wait is hard, and I do not doubt it, yet this is the very school where faith learns its finest lessons. "Those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth." Our text introduces us to a waiting God, He waits to be gracious! And that very God calls you to be one of His waiting people. You are not to be waiting in despair, nor in hesitation, but in a joyous and assured hope. "My Soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him." Have you made your mind up to this? To handle a matter wisely is to trust God, to rely simply and entirely upon Him even while you act with all prudence. That is your calling now.

I would urge you, do not let this season of delay breed wicked fears or provoke you to distrust. Many think they must experience a blaze of joy before they can trust, but that is to get the matter backwards. "We trust in the living God", the real God, the God who is as powerful, as wise, and as tender now as He ever was. He is not a dead force, but an active, working, personal God who comes into the midst of your need. Cast all you have on Him, and all you have not, too. There is no hope for you in yourself; there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided. When everything has broken down, we come back to God, and we find Him lovingly waiting, a God ready to pardon all your impatience and ready to supply all your need.

Let me commend to you a life of trust in temporal things: trusting in God, you will not have to mourn because you have used sinful means to grow rich, nor will you have a guilty conscience from taking a false path. You say the wait is so difficult with your hope going up and down. I perceive the struggle. Yet see David's example, when Ziklag was burnt and his men spoke of stoning him, David fell back on God alone. That is the secret. When you look at your life and see nothing in yourself but poverty and need, then you are on the road to hope. Humble yourself under God's mighty hand, confess that you have nothing of your own, and say, "If God says, 'Trust Christ, and live,' I will trust Christ and live!" Come to Him in trust, you cannot trust Christ and yet be cast away. You have comfortable promises in the Word. The Lord will not leave you nor forsake you; that is His own sure declaration, and He cannot lie. Go on, then, and obtain the blessing He is fashioning for you in this furnace of waiting.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your grief over a beloved animal is not a small thing, for all creation groans under the weight of decay, and the kindness you show to a suffering creature reflects the mercy our Lord commands. When the lame were brought to Christ on the mountain and simply cast at His feet, He healed them. So now, cast this sorrow at His feet, and He will give you strength to bear it. Let the memories bring warmth, as you say, but do not allow that warmth to become a flame of excess that leaves no room for higher duties. Keep your hope fixed not on what passes away, but on the Lord who never changes. He who watches over the sparrow watches over your soul, and in His time He will turn your mourning into peace.

To sustain you in this wait for work, arm yourself as the Apostle commands: put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. Faith trusts that God sees your need before you ask; love keeps your heart from bitterness toward those who seem to prosper while you wait. And that helmet of hope protects your reason, holding it upright, so neither the delays nor the refusals can crush you inward. You are not forgotten. The same Lord who sent ravens to feed Elijah will not forsake you. Yet beware of making provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, which includes not only bodily appetites but also the anxious craving that seeks relief from every discomfort right now. To care for your body and your household is right, but when the desire for work becomes a demand that God answer on your terms, it lights a furnace of despair. Instead, let each interview be an occasion to cast your care upon Him, and each silence from an employer a call to cling tighter to the hope that does not disappoint. The waiting is indeed a sleep and a dream, but the day of His provision dawns suddenly. Until then, let your daily prayer be the armor, and your hope the helmet, and you will stand.
