Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer comes from a place of deep love and it is right to bring your daughter before the Lord in this way. I join you in asking Jesus to open her eyes through His Word, to give her a true hunger for righteousness, and to replace stubbornness with a soft and willing heart.
God desires not a distant or ritual connection but a close and living relationship with His children as a Father. He has made a way through Jesus Christ alone to adopt us into His family, so that we can know Him intimately and call upon Him as Father. When that primary relationship with God is restored and made right, other relationships begin to come into proper order. Much of the confusion and pain in our relationships with others can be traced back to our relationship with Him. My prayer is that your daughter would return to her first love for the Lord, that she would experience again that personal love for Jesus and know how deeply she is loved by Him.
Scripture speaks of turning the hearts of children back to their fathers and to those who love them, and God Himself called His people to return to their family and promised to be with them as they did. There is safety and wisdom in the love of family that God has provided, and it is good to pray that pride, shame or pressure would not keep her from that safety, and above all from returning to the Lord. Honoring the bonds of family is close to God's heart, and He is faithful to be with those who turn toward Him and toward home.
Part of seeing clearly is also being willing to come out from what is harmful and unclean and to be separate from it. An exploitative and toxic relationship does not reflect God's design for love and marriage, which is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman where intimacy and shared life belong. When relationships form outside of that design, they often bring jealousy, rivalry, confusion and hurt, and living day by day in a corrupting environment will wear down wisdom and health and even the morals of a family. It is right to pray that your daughter will no longer defend what is harmful, that she will recognize the warning signs she has been blinded to, and that she will lay down responsibilities that were never hers to carry. It is also right to pray that she would be guarded from unwise and harmful counsel, including from the young man's mother, and be guided instead toward stability, wisdom and health.
So I pray with you that the Lord will gently open her eyes, awaken a hunger for what is right, and draw her heart fully back to Himself and to those who love her. May He give her courage to see what is true, to step away from what exploits and harms her, and to find again the security of His love and the love of her family. May He heal and reconcile her relationship with God through Jesus, and from that restored foundation bring clarity and strength for every other relationship. In Jesus name, amen.
