Beloved of All
We join you in bringing your older daughter and your whole family before the Lord in prayer, and we thank you for sharing this burden so openly.
We pray with you for freedom, protection, restoration and healing. We ask the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and adoption as sons and daughters, to grant your daughter courage and wisdom to release herself swiftly and completely from this relationship, and to give her a clear and considerate mind to see the truth. Without such clarity, even many signs and warnings bear no fruit, but when the heart is willing to see, the Lord brings deliverance from evil and supplies every good thing.
We agree with you that living together outside of marriage is not marriage. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that living together and sexual union belong only within that covenant. What is called a significant other outside of that covenant has no such claim, and no one has the right to take the place that belongs to God, to family, and to a lawful calling. Greed, laziness, control, dishonesty and manipulation are not love, and financial exploitation is not provision. We pray that your daughter will see that she is not being loved in this arrangement but being used, and that the exhaustion, financial hardship, division, isolation and spiritual oppression you have described are fruits of a house built outside of God's order.
We pray that the Lord will open her eyes to see the difference between a beautiful courtship that honors God and seeks purity, patience and protection, and a cohabitation that brings chaos, disrespect and weariness. You mentioned the beautiful courtship of her younger sister, and we pray your older daughter will see in that example what God desires for her as well, a suitor who is truly a husband and protector, marked not by money or outward show but by piety of soul, gentleness, true understanding and the fear of God. Such a marriage is where Christ is invited to be present from the first seeking and choosing, and where true pleasure and peace are found.
We pray that she will no longer idolize or obey this young man or put him and his mother before her faith, her God given family and the purposeful work God has given her. We ask that she will turn away from counsel that keeps her in an ungodly living arrangement and remember the biblical values she was raised on. May she hear the Lord's assurance in her heart that she belongs to Him, that she is His daughter by faith, and that He is able to protect and provide for her with all His power. As faith made the woman in the Gospel a daughter and made her whole, so we pray your daughter's faith will be renewed and she will walk in the freedom and sonship that Christ secured for us.
We pray for supernatural clarity to flood her mind, that she will discern the difference between a shepherd who protects and provides and a wolf in sheep's clothing who does not, and that she will have the strength to walk away, to trust her family and to trust the Lord to restore everything that has been taken from her. We ask the Lord to gently guide her to move back home swiftly and without regret, and to restore her faith, freedom, independence, self worth, peace, satisfaction and sweet fellowship with you and her siblings. May she see herself and her family as God sees them, not as this young man and his mother see them.
We also lift up your whole family tonight. We ask Jesus to fill each of you with His Holy Spirit in every aspect of your lives, to saturate your home with His peace, love, favor, protection, respect and healing. Guard your unity, quiet the chaos, and let no division remain. Give you all rest from exhaustion and joy in fellowship together again.
We will continue to stand with you, speaking to the Lord on your daughter's behalf that her eyes would be opened, her heart softened and her spirit strengthened to choose what is holy and good. May the Lord who is able to deliver and to restore do a swift and merciful work in her life.
