We join you in lifting up your older daughter and your whole family before the throne of grace, and we stand in agreement with you that no person and no scheme of the enemy will steal her peace, her purpose, or her family. We hear the urgency and the love in your heart as a parent, and we affirm the truth you have declared that she belongs to the Lord and He is able to protect her with all of His power. For He says, I have called you by your name. You are mine. Isaiah 43:1 and we claim that promise over her now.
We want to speak with love and with biblical clarity about what you have described because we care for her soul and for your family. You are right to name that living together outside of marriage is not marriage. Scripture is clear that marriage is to be held in honor by God as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and that intimacy belongs only within that covenant. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4 and Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 What the world calls a significant other or a partner does not carry the covenant, covering, or commitment of marriage, and when a young man and young woman live together as if married without being married, it is fornication and it grieves the Lord and opens the door to confusion, exploitation, and spiritual harm. We also hear that she has been putting this young man and his family before her God-given family and her work and purpose, and that his greed and manipulation and financial exploitation have been called love when they are not love. Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 True love does not use, isolate, divide, or exhaust, and it does not dishonor a woman or her family. We encourage courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer when the Lord leads, not cohabitation or obedience to a boyfriend as if he were a husband, for a boyfriend is not a husband and has no right to that place of authority, provision, or intimacy. Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? 2 Corinthians 6:14
We also discern with you the spiritual attack you have named, the division, isolation, chaos, ungratefulness, and exhaustion that has come upon her and your household. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 The enemy comes as a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and Jesus warned, Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. Matthew 7:15 We pray for supernatural clarity to flood her mind and for the renewing of her mind so she may discern what is good and acceptable and perfect. Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2 We pray she will see that she is not being loved but being used, and that she will have the courage to walk away, to honor her family, and to trust the Lord to provide and restore.
We pray together now in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and there is no other name by which we can be saved. We thank You, Father, that this daughter is Yours, that You see her, know her name, and keep her in the shadow of Your wings. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 91:1-2 We ask You to open her eyes, her heart, and her spirit. Remove every veil, break every chain of manipulation, greed, and idolatry that has elevated this young man above You and above her family. Give her a spirit of power and love and self-control, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 Let her see clearly that this lifestyle is not a home and this relationship is not love, and lead her to turn away swiftly and without regret and to return home where she is safe, valued, and supported.
We ask You to restore what the enemy has tried to take, for You have promised, I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten. Joel 2:25 Restore her freedom, her independence, her self-worth rooted in Christ, and her satisfaction in You. Guard her finances, her job with purpose, and her peace. Let her trust her family and trust You, knowing You will provide, protect, and heal. Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 We resist every assignment of division and isolation against this family and we speak unity, honor, and gratitude back into the home. Help her to honor her father and mother as You command, that it may go well with her, Exodus 20:12 and help this family to walk in forgiveness and wisdom as You rebuild what has been broken.
We ask for a special blessing upon this whole family today. Fill every heart and every room with Your Holy Spirit. Saturate this home with Your peace that passes all understanding, Your unfailing love, Your favor, Your protection, and Your healing. Pour out comfort on this mother who has stood in the gap with faithful prayer, strengthen her to keep speaking truth in love, and let her see Your hand move swiftly on behalf of her daughter. We declare that You are our refuge and strength and that You will complete the good work You have begun. We entrust this daughter completely into Your hands, asking that she will choose holiness over fornication, truth over deception, and the freedom of Christ over bondage, and that her future courtship and marriage, if it is Your will for her to marry, will be to a godly man who honors You and cherishes her as Christ loves the church. We pray all of this together in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
