We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who has strayed from the path of righteousness. Father God, we know that Your heart breaks when Your children turn away from Your commands, especially in matters of purity and holy matrimony. The Scriptures are clear: "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge" (Hebrews 13:4). Yet we also know that Your mercy is boundless, and Your desire is always for restoration.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of deception that has led this brother to believe he could walk in sin and still remain in fellowship with You. The Word warns us, "Do not be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap" (Galatians 6:7). We pray that You would break the hardness of his heart and open his eyes to the seriousness of his actions. He has not only committed fornication but has entered into an adulterous union, yoking himself unequally with one who does not share his faith. "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14).
Heavenly Father, we ask that You would bring conviction, not condemnation, to this precious soul. Let him feel the weight of his sin but also the overwhelming love and forgiveness You offer through the blood of Jesus Christ. We declare that there is no sin too great for Your grace, for "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). We pray that he would repent with godly sorrow, turning away from this unholy union and seeking Your will for his life.
Lord, we stand on the promise of Hosea 2:19-20, declaring that You long to betroth Your people to Yourself in righteousness, justice, lovingkindness, and mercy. We pray that this brother would once again know the joy of being Your beloved, set apart for Your purposes. Father, we ask that You would speak clearly to him about the path forward. If it is Your will for him to separate from this adulterous relationship, give him the strength and courage to obey, trusting in Your provision and restoration. If there is a way for this marriage to be redeemed in a manner that honors You—through repentance, genuine conversion of his spouse, and a commitment to live according to Your Word—then we pray for that miracle. But we know that Your Word must be the foundation, for "a wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 7:39).
We also lift up the woman involved in this situation. If she does not know You, Lord, we pray that she would come to salvation through Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If she claims to be a believer, we pray that she would repent of her sin and seek to walk in holiness. Father, we ask that You would break any generational curses or strongholds of immorality that may be at work in either of their lives. Let them both experience the freedom that comes from living according to Your Word.
Holy Spirit, we ask that You would surround this brother with godly counsel and accountability. Place believers in his life who will speak truth in love, encouraging him to walk in obedience to Your commands. We pray that he would be restored to fellowship with You and with Your people, no longer hiding in shame but walking in the light of Your love.
Father, we also pray for any children who may be involved in this situation. Let them see the power of Your redemption and experience Your peace, even in the midst of brokenness. Protect their hearts and minds, and draw them to Yourself.
Lord, we declare that You are a God who restores. Just as You restored Hosea to Gomer, we believe that You can restore this brother to a life of purity and purpose. We pray that he would once again become a vessel for Your glory, walking in the fullness of the calling You have placed on his life. May he find a godly spouse—one who loves You and seeks to honor You in all things—so that their marriage would be a testimony to Your faithfulness.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. We thank You for Your mercy, Your grace, and Your unfailing love. May this brother experience the depth of Your forgiveness and the power of Your restoration. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
