Fornication, adultery, restoration

Kensem

Beloved of All
Please lift a special someone (hidden for privacy reasons) to the throne of God in the name of Jesus.
This person is said to be a born-again Christian, but he distanced himself from God due to fornication and therefore married an adulterous woman.
Let us pray in Jesus name that this person accepts God's will regarding their broken relationship, and understands that, as a Christian, they cannot be unequally yoked, but must marry someone who is also a Christian.

Let's pray based on these verses:
Hosea 2:19-23
[19] “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy;
[20] I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the Lord.
[21] “It shall come to pass in that day That I will answer,” says the Lord; “I will answer the heavens, And they shall answer the earth.
[22] The earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall answer Jezreel.
[23] Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’”

Please continue to pray...Keep praying that this brother has unweavering faith in Jesus Christ and the Father's holy plan for his life...AMEN
LET GOD BE GLORIFIED!!

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear brother who has strayed from the path of righteousness through the sin of fornication and entered into an adulterous marriage. The Word of God is clear: "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge." (Hebrews 13:4). This brother, though born again, has allowed sin to entangle him, and we must pray fervently for his repentance and restoration.

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love (Psalm 103:8), but He also calls us to holiness. "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality" (1 Thessalonians 4:3). This brother must turn away from this sin and seek God’s will with a repentant heart. The marriage he has entered into is not in alignment with Scripture, for the Lord commands us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). If his spouse is not a believer, this union is a stumbling block to his walk with Christ.

We stand on the promise of Hosea 2:19-23, where God declares His faithfulness to restore and betroth His people in righteousness. Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this brother who has strayed from Your path. Lord, we ask that You break the chains of sin in his life and draw him back to You with cords of love. Convict his heart of the need for repentance and restoration. Father, we pray that he would turn away from this adulterous union and seek Your will for his life. If it is Your will, bring him a godly spouse who loves You and will walk with him in righteousness. Lord, we declare that You are faithful to forgive and restore those who come to You with a repentant heart. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and let him know that You are his God, and he is Your people. May he walk in holiness and obedience to Your Word. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We must also address the seriousness of this situation with truth and love. This brother cannot continue in sin and expect to walk in the fullness of God’s blessings. "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap." (Galatians 6:7). If he is to be restored, he must first repent and turn away from this ungodly union. The Lord may call him to separate from this adulterous relationship, for "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." (2 Corinthians 5:17). This new life in Christ demands a break from sin and a commitment to holiness.

We encourage this brother to seek wise counsel from godly leaders in his church, to study the Word of God diligently, and to surround himself with believers who will hold him accountable. The road to restoration may be difficult, but the Lord is faithful to complete the work He has begun in him (Philippians 1:6). Let us continue to pray for his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and his surrender to the Father’s holy plan for his life. May God be glorified in all things, and may this brother find his way back to the narrow path that leads to life.

We appreciate you carrying this burden to prayer and wanting God's best for this brother. It is heavy to watch someone you care about make choices that pull him away from the Lord, and to long for him to walk closely with Jesus again.

We join you in asking God to draw him back to Himself, to give him clarity and strength to seek God's will above all else, and to build an unwavering trust in Christ and the Father's good plan for his life. Restoration is often not instant but a steady work of God in the heart as a person turns toward Him, and your faithful, patient intercession matters more than you may see right now.

One thing that can help as you keep praying is to keep entrusting both the man and the outcome to God, rather than carrying the weight of how or when God will work. Staying steady in your own walk, in prayer and fellowship, will also keep your heart encouraged while you wait.

Father, we bring this brother before You in Jesus' name. Draw him near to You, renew his faith, and lead him in Your wisdom and mercy. Give him a heart to know You and to follow Your will. And give our friend who is praying peace as he trusts You. Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and we join you in carrying this burden to the throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation.

We do not ask God to bless fornication or adultery, for these things are sin in His sight and grieve His Spirit, but we do ask Him to bestow that which He alone can give, a true repentance unto life and a living faith in the Lord Jesus. The Scriptures teach us that repentance and faith are inseparable and come into the soul together. The repentance which ejects sin as an evil tenant and the faith which admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart are twins born of the same grace. One without the other is not genuine. We pray therefore not for a carnal repentance which is of the flesh, nor for a passing sorrow that does not give God glory, but for that holy repentance which is worked in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit, which makes a rainbow with tears of grief for sin and glances of hope at the love of Christ and His finished work. Such repentance gives God glory, for it confesses that Against You only have I sinned, and looks to the blood of Jesus to wash whiter than snow.

We pray for this brother, if he be indeed born again, that the goodness of God may lead him to repentance, not driving but drawing him. Christ is exalted on high to give both remission of sins and the repentance which goes before it. Faith itself, even as a grain of mustard seed, is the gift of God, and little faith, though it be little, is still true faith if it begins and ends with Jesus. May the Lord increase his faith, that he may look wholly to Christ and not to his own repentance or his own works, for nothing is to be trusted but the finished work upon Calvary. We pray that he may know the Lord in that betrothal spoken of by Hosea, I will betroth you to Me forever in righteousness and justice, in lovingkindness and mercy, in faithfulness, and you shall know the Lord. This is the mercy of our God, that He will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy and say to those who were not His people, You are My people.

Concerning marriage, we hold fast what the Word of God teaches, that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the bed and the union of bodies belongs within that covenant alone. The command is plain, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, and it is a precept to be obeyed before entering into such a covenant. For those already bound in marriage, the call of God is to holiness, to truth, to faithfulness within the vow that has been made, and to seek the Lord's will with a broken and contrite heart which He will not despise. We pray that this man may accept the holy will of God regarding his broken relationship, that he may walk in light and not in darkness, that he may forsake what is unholy and cleave to what is pure, and that whether in reconciliation or in godly sorrow, he may do all as before the Lord whom no man can deceive.

Let us pray together. O Lord God, Father of mercies, grant to this soul repentance that needs not to be repented of, and faith to look to Jesus Christ alone for cleansing. Purge him with hyssop that he may be clean, wash him that he may be whiter than snow. Restore unto him the joy of Your salvation. Lead him by Your Spirit to know You, to love Your precepts, and to walk in unwavering faith in Your holy plan for his life. Let his life henceforth yield works meet for repentance, practical and lasting, to Your glory alone. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour. Amen. Let God be glorified.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join you in bringing this brother before the throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for mercy, restoration, and unwavering faith according to the Father's holy plan.

We pray first for his return to the Lord with a contrite heart. Scripture teaches that holiness is shown in chaste and orderly living, and that marriage is honorable and pure because it preserves the holiness that comes through faith and guards against union with what is unholy. When a man who is bound in marriage defiles himself with another, or when an unmarried person commits fornication, it is not only an injury against another person but an offense against God Himself. Both fornication and adultery defile from within, from the heart, and that defilement is not washed away as mud is washed with water, but requires a clean heart created by God, with repentance, honest confession, tears and a turning away from sin.

So we pray that this brother will lament and humbly remember his sins before God, not hiding them from men while pretending God does not see, but confessing them fully that he may be justified and cleansed. May God grant him to see that true love does not use another person for sin but draws away from sin, for love makes a person blamable before God and consumes sin like fire. May pride, which is more destructive even than impurity and can destroy every virtue, be taken from him, and may he walk in humility.

We pray based on Hosea 2:19 to 23, that the Lord who betroths His people to Himself forever in righteousness and justice, in lovingkindness and mercy and faithfulness, would cause this brother to know the Lord again. As God says He will answer and have mercy on those who had not obtained mercy and say to those who were not His people, You are My people, we ask that this brother would hear that voice, receive mercy through Jesus Christ alone, by whom alone we are saved and chosen, and be restored to fellowship with God. Where there has been faithlessness, may God establish faithfulness. Where there has been wandering, may God sow anew and bring forth grain and new wine and oil in his life, the fruit of a renewed walk.

We also pray regarding his broken relationship, that he will accept God's will with submission and wisdom. We ask that he will understand the call not to be unequally yoked, and that any future marriage, if it is God's will for him, would be entered only as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with a fellow believer, in purity and faithfulness, keeping the marriage bed honorable. We do not ask God to bless what is contrary to His word, but we ask Him to bless obedience, chastity, and faithfulness, whether that means remaining faithful within a lawful covenant or walking in singleness with purity while he is restored.

We pray that this brother will have unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, that his faith would establish him in the promise and make his calling sure, that he would be kept from contention and from the wrath that comes by transgression, and that he would live by grace through faith.

Father, create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him. Keep him from returning to fornication and adultery, guard him from the harlot and from every impurity, and set his feet on the path of holiness, prayer, almsgiving and love for neighbor. Let him know that he is fully pardoned and cleansed through the blood of Jesus when he repents and believes, and let his life now glorify You.

We ask all this in the name of Jesus, that God alone would be glorified. Amen.
