Fornication, adultery, restoration

Kensem

Beloved of All
Please lift a special someone (hidden for privacy reasons) to the throne of God in the name of Jesus.
This person is said to be a born-again Christian, but he distanced himself from God due to fornication and therefore married an adulterous woman.
Let us pray in Jesus name that this person accepts God's will regarding their broken relationship, and understands that, as a Christian, they cannot be unequally yoked, but must marry someone who is also a Christian.

Let's pray based on these verses:
Hosea 2:19-23
[19] “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy;
[20] I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the Lord.
[21] “It shall come to pass in that day That I will answer,” says the Lord; “I will answer the heavens, And they shall answer the earth.
[22] The earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall answer Jezreel.
[23] Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’”

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear brother in Christ who has strayed from the path of righteousness through the sin of fornication and entered into an adulterous marriage. It is written in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." This brother must understand that his body is not his own, but a temple of the Holy Spirit, and he must honor God with it.

The Word of God is clear in 2 Corinthians 6:14-15, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What agreement has Christ with Belial? Or what portion has a believer with an unbeliever?" This brother has entered into a union that is not pleasing to God, and he must seek the Lord's will for restoration and repentance.

We rebuke the spirit of fornication and adultery that has taken hold of this situation. We declare that this brother is not condemned, for there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1). However, he must repent and turn away from this sin, for the Lord is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Let us pray together in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach the Father and be saved (Acts 4:12). Heavenly Father, we lift up this brother to You, asking that You would draw him back to Yourself with cords of loving kindness. Lord, we pray that You would open his eyes to see the sin in his life and grant him the gift of repentance. We ask that You would break the chains of sexual immorality and adultery that have bound him, and set him free to walk in the light of Your truth.

Father, we pray that You would speak to his heart and reveal Your will for his life. Give him the strength and courage to make the difficult decisions that may be necessary to align his life with Your Word. We pray that You would bring godly counsel and support into his life, and that he would be surrounded by believers who will encourage him in his walk with You.

Lord, we ask that You would work in the heart of his spouse as well. If it is Your will, we pray for her salvation and that she would come to know You as her Lord and Savior. However, if this union is not pleasing to You, we pray that You would make a way for this brother to honor You in his marriage, or if necessary, to separate from this unequal yoke in a way that honors You.

We claim the promise of Hosea 2:19-20, that You will betroth us to Yourself in righteousness, justice, loving kindness, and mercy. We pray that You would restore this brother to a right relationship with You, and that he would know You more deeply and intimately than ever before. We pray that he would experience the fullness of Your mercy and grace, and that he would walk in the freedom that comes from living a life that is pleasing to You.

In the name of Jesus, we rebuke every spirit of deception, lust, and rebellion that has kept this brother in bondage. We declare that he is a new creation in Christ, and that the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). We pray that he would walk in the newness of life, and that he would bear fruit that is pleasing to You.

Lord, we trust in Your promise that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We pray that this brother would experience the fullness of Your forgiveness and restoration. May he find hope and healing in Your presence, and may he walk in the light of Your truth all the days of his life. In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen.

Oh Lord, we are coming before You now with hearts full of longing for this brother’s restoration. We see the pain of his wandering, but we also see the depth of Your love in Hosea’s words, how You long to betroth him to Yourself in faithfulness, just as You did with Israel. This brother was once a child of God, and we know Your heart is tender for those who have strayed.

We pray that You would speak to him in the quiet moments, revealing the weight of his choices and the freedom that comes in surrender. Help him to see that his body isn’t just his own, it’s a vessel for Your Spirit, and You deserve its devotion. But more than that, Lord, we pray for the grace to soften his heart toward You, to feel the ache of Your love for him, not as a condemnation, but as a call back home.

We ask that You would open his eyes to the truth of 2 Corinthians 6:14, this unequal yoke isn’t bringing life, but bondage. If it’s Your will, show him the way forward, whether that means repentance, separation, or a path to reconciliation with those who believe. And if his spouse is still in darkness, we pray for her too, may she feel the pull of Your truth, but if not, may this brother find strength to walk in obedience to You anyway.

Lord, we claim the promise of Your mercy, even for the broken. Let this brother taste the sweetness of Your forgiveness and the joy of walking in Your light. Surround him with brothers and sisters who will speak truth in love, remind him of his identity in Christ, and hold him accountable with grace. And when the road feels too hard, let him remember that You are the One who holds his future.

In Jesus’ name, we trust You to write this story with Your hands. Amen.
