Fornication, adultery, restoration

Kensem

Beloved of All
Please lift a special someone (hidden for privacy reasons) to the throne of God in the name of Jesus.
This person is said to be a born-again Christian, but he distanced himself from God due to fornication and therefore married an adulterous woman.
Let us pray in Jesus name that this person accepts God's will regarding their broken relationship, and understands that, as a Christian, they cannot be unequally yoked, but must marry someone who is also a Christian.

Let's pray based on these verses:
Hosea 2:19-23
[19] “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy;
[20] I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the Lord.
[21] “It shall come to pass in that day That I will answer,” says the Lord; “I will answer the heavens, And they shall answer the earth.
[22] The earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall answer Jezreel.
[23] Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’”

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear brother in Christ who has strayed from the path of righteousness. The Scriptures are clear that sexual immorality—whether fornication or adultery—grieves the heart of God and separates us from His perfect will. "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

It is deeply concerning that this brother, though born again, has entered into an ungodly union, yoked unequally with someone who does not share his faith. The Word of God warns us, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God to reflect Christ’s relationship with His Church—a union between one man and one woman who are both committed to Him. To enter into marriage outside of His will is to invite hardship, spiritual confusion, and separation from His blessings.

Yet we serve a God of restoration, whose mercy is new every morning. The passage from Hosea you shared is a beautiful reminder of His relentless love. Even when His people turn away, He pursues them, calling them back into covenant with Him. "I will betroth you to me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in loving kindness, and in compassion. I will even betroth you to me in faithfulness; and you shall know Yahweh" (Hosea 2:19-20). This is the heart of our Father—He desires to heal, to restore, and to redeem.

We must also address the reality of sin with truth and love. This brother cannot continue in disobedience and expect to walk in the fullness of God’s blessing. The Word says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Repentance is not just sorrow—it is a turning away from sin and a returning to God’s ways. If this marriage is not built on the foundation of Christ, it must be examined in the light of Scripture. "Do not be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap" (Galatians 6:7).

Let us pray together for this brother’s heart to be softened, for conviction to lead him to repentance, and for the courage to align his life with God’s Word. We also pray for the woman involved—that she, too, would come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ if she does not already.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humility and love for this brother who has wandered from Your path. Lord, we ask that You break the chains of sin that have bound him, that You would open his eyes to the truth of Your Word, and that You would draw him back into Your arms. Father, we pray for conviction that leads to repentance, for a heart that is tender toward You, and for the strength to walk in obedience. If this marriage is not of You, we ask that You would bring it to an end in a way that honors You and leads both of them to righteousness. If there is hope for restoration within Your will, we ask that You would redeem this situation for Your glory.

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for this brother. Help him to see the importance of being equally yoked with a believer, that his marriage would be a reflection of Christ and the Church. Surround him with godly counsel, with brothers and sisters in Christ who will speak truth into his life and hold him accountable. Father, we ask that You would heal any wounds, restore any brokenness, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

We declare over this brother that he is Your child, bought with the precious blood of Jesus. We speak life, restoration, and renewal over his spirit. May he rise up and walk in the fullness of Your calling, in the name of Jesus. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we are saved. Amen.

To this brother, we say: God’s love for you is unchanging, but His holiness demands that we walk in obedience. You cannot serve two masters—you must choose this day whom you will serve. Return to the Lord with all your heart, and He will meet you with open arms. Seek godly counsel, immerse yourself in Scripture, and surround yourself with believers who will encourage you in righteousness. The path of repentance is not easy, but it is the only path that leads to true peace and restoration. "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded" (James 4:8). You are not alone—God is with you, and so are we, standing in agreement for your return to Him.

We're here for you, dear friend. We know it's tough, but remember, God's love for you is steadfast and unchanging. He sees your heart, and He wants the best for you. Let's pray in Jesus' name for clarity and strength to walk in His ways. "Lord, open this person's eyes to see the truth of Your Word. Give them the courage to make right choices, even when it's hard. Help them to understand that as a born-again Christian, they can't be unequally yoked. Guide them to a path of restoration and healing, in Jesus' name. Amen."

Dear Brother, if you're going to use Hosea for a reference, you ought to understand the whole point of His relationship to Gomer was to demonstrate God's covenant faithfulness, not your verse which honestly makes no sense -- it's a tough call, but have you ever cheated on The Lord? Each time one disobeys they are worshipping and serving the creature over the Creator, Rom 1, each time they are lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God -- for each sin... It would be better to quote chapter 3, the main point of the saga within the Book of Hosea... Let's pray based on these verses:
Hosea 3:1-5...

1 "Then the LORD said to me, 'Go again, love a woman who is loved by her husband, yet an adulteress, even as the LORD loves the sons of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes.' 2 So I bought her for myself for fifteen shekels of silver and a homer and a half of barley. 3 Then I said to her, 'You shall stay with me for many days. You shall not play the harlot, nor shall you have a man; so I will also be toward you.' 4 For the sons of Israel will remain for many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar and without ephod or household idols. 5 Afterward the sons of Israel will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king; and they will come trembling to the LORD and to His goodness in the last days."

Hosea proves he should NOT give up on his wife that he swore solemn vows to without exhausting every and any means, be it traveling across the earth to redeem her, or leaving heaven to seek and save the lost, Luke 19:10. Thank you in Jesus' Name...
