Forms of Idolatry

Most would think idolatry means worshpping a statue of a false God instead of God.But I'd say it applys to other things. When someone says they "need" coffee to make it through the day, instead of saying ,God could give them energy to make through the day, isn't that showing a lack of faith in God, that they feel they "need" the coffee, that God alone wouldn't be enough?Anytime someone will do anything for something, put it above everything else, and depend on it instead of God, wouldn't that be idolatry?. Even money.I see people sell out their morals for money, then try to justify it.They'll vote for someone who backs ungodly causes, thinking that party is better for their financial cause. But isn't that not having enough faith in God to provide that they have to sell out to an ungodly person? The Antichrist, no one can buy or sell unless they take the mark. But does God "justify" that? "Whosoever worships the beast, or takes the mark on their right hand or forehead, the same will be tormented in fire in the presence of the Lamb .And the smoke of their torment rises up forever and ever."So is idolatry just praying to a statue?Doesn't seem so. Could be anything you put your trust in over God.

Idolatry can be anything that you give so much attention to that it overshadows the attention you give to God. It could be materialism. It could be anything. In your heart, God should be first. You are right. Idolatry is not always bowing to a statue.

I stand in agreement, idolatry doesn't just have to be worshipping a giant golden statue like in early history, it counts as anything that you give time to so much that it overthrows your attention with God. The Lord must be at the top of our priorities within our heart!

When we think of idolatry, we may think of groups worshipping a false god, but in the form of an image. Even the Catholics praying to Mary. However, I would think there are other ways someone can be guilty of it. Like anything that is focused on at the exclusion of God. Like of the people I...
