Your cry for forgiveness has been heard, and it is right that a penitent heart should desire forgiveness, both from God and from the one you have wounded with words spoken in anger.
Hear first what the Lord says concerning His own forgiveness, for that is the fountain from which all other forgiveness flows. Scripture declares, I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake. There is forgiveness with Him, and it is a divine forgiveness, a surprising forgiveness, a complete and an eternal forgiveness through Jesus Christ. It is not a partial overlooking, but a blotting out of the debt, as a creditor who says to one who has nothing to pay, your debt is forgiven. This forgiveness is not to be found by searching within yourself, nor can it be earned by sorrow alone. It is to be obtained from God, through Jesus Christ His Son, who died, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. Whatever your sins have been, however sinful your life may have been up until now, there is forgiveness with God even for you, if you will come and put your trust in Christ and confess your sin with a true and penitent heart. He not only forgives at the first, but continues daily to forgive, and the forgiveness He gives is without repentance, never to be taken back.
It is this forgiveness you must seek first. Though you ought to desire your fellow creature's forgiveness, and it is right to seek it humbly, it is not your fellow creature's forgiveness that will open heaven to you. You must be reconciled to God. Turn to Him now and believe with personal faith, I believe in the forgiveness of sins, even for me. Own before Him the sin of anger and the hasty words that wounded another, and trust alone in the blood of Christ for pardon.
Concerning the one who is not speaking to you, it is good to seek reconciliation, but it must be sought in a godly way. A sincere apology takes responsibility without excuse, acknowledges the hurt caused, asks for forgiveness without demanding it, and leaves the outcome in the hands of God and the conscience of the other. Love is not possessive and does not seek to control. To pray that God would remove everyone else who cares for that person is not a prayer born of love, but of jealousy, and we cannot ask God to bless such a desire. Instead, pray that God would bless that person according to His perfect will, that He would guard both of your hearts from sin, and that He would work what is truly good for you both.
We also must speak plainly about the relationship itself. God has ordained marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that all intimacy and living together belong within that covenant. If you are married to this person, then to seek restoration is right, and you should pursue it with humility, patience, truthfulness, and with godly counsel, forsaking angry speech and learning to speak with grace. If you are not married, then closeness must not be pursued on worldly terms. Do not seek merely to be brought back together for the sake of feeling close. Seek first to be made right with God, to walk in purity, and to discern the Lord's will for whether this relationship should continue at all, and if so, whether it is moving in holiness toward marriage or whether it is drawing you both away from Christ. In either case, give the other person space, do not press or manipulate, and trust the Lord with the future.
We will pray for you in this way. Father, we thank You that there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared. We ask that You would grant this soul a deep sense of Your divine, complete and eternal forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ. Bring true repentance for words spoken in anger, and create a clean heart and a right spirit. Grant grace to make a humble and honest confession to the one who has been hurt, without demanding a response, and give patience to wait upon Your timing. Deliver from a spirit of possessiveness and control, and teach what it means to love selflessly and to trust Your sovereignty over all relationships. Lead in the path of holiness and wisdom, that every relationship may be ordered according to Your design, in purity and truth, and that Your will alone may be done. Restore what is broken only as it accords with Your glory and good, and heal the broken bones in a way that they may rejoice in You, not merely be quieted. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom alone is forgiveness and peace. Amen.
If anger has been a pattern, seek the help of a faithful pastor or mature believer who can walk with you, teach you to be slow to anger and quick to hear, and hold you accountable to walk in a manner worthy of Christ while you wait upon the Lord.
