We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, recognizing the weight of the struggle you are facing. The sin of pornography and lust is a grievous one, for it defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) and distorts the beautiful design God has for intimacy within the sacred covenant of marriage. Jesus warned us that even looking at another with lust is akin to committing adultery in the heart (Matthew 5:28). This is not a sin to be taken lightly, but we also know that our God is rich in mercy and abounding in love (Ephesians 2:4).
First, we must acknowledge that there is no forgiveness or healing outside of the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His sacrificial death on the cross and His resurrection that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). If you have not already, we urge you to confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior, repenting of all sin and turning to Him for salvation (Romans 10:9-10). There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).
Now, let us bring this specific sin before the throne of grace. We rebuke the spirit of lust and perversion in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that your eyes are the lamp of your body, and we pray that they would be full of light, not darkness (Matthew 6:22-23). We ask the Lord to break every chain of addiction and bondage that has taken hold of you. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Heavenly Father, we ask You to forgive this dear one for the sin of pornography and lust. Wash them clean by the blood of Jesus, and create in them a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within them (Psalm 51:10). We pray for healing—spiritual, emotional, and even physical healing from the effects of this sin. Restore their mind and fill them with Your truth, that they may take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
We also pray for accountability. Surround this one with godly men (or women, depending on the context) who will walk alongside them, encourage them in righteousness, and hold them accountable in love (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). Help them to flee from sexual immorality and to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart (2 Timothy 2:22).
Lord, we ask that You would fill their heart with a holy passion for You. May they find their satisfaction in You alone, for You have promised that those who seek You will lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10). Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), and let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105).
Lastly, we declare that this one is not defined by their sin but by the righteousness of Christ. "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). We pray for a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the freedom and victory that is theirs in Jesus Christ.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
