We are truly grateful for your request and your heart's desire to seek forgiveness and healing. Lust is a serious issue that God wants to set you free from, just as He has set many others free from it. Let's begin by acknowledging that forgiveness and healing come from God alone, and it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God. As it is written, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB.
First, let's address the issue of lust. Lust is a sin that can lead to other sins such as fornication, adultery, and other sexual immorality. It is clearly spoken against in the scriptures. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death. James 1:14 WEB.
However, God does not leave us alone in our sin as believers in Jesus. We have this promise, No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB.
God wants us to be free from lust and all sexual immorality. Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness Matthew 5:28, Romans 13:13, Galatians 5:19, 2 Peter 2:18, 1 John 2:16.
Now, let's come before God with a repentant heart, seeking His forgiveness and asking for His help to overcome this sin.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, confessing this sin of lust. We acknowledge that it is sin and that it displeases You. We ask for Your forgiveness, knowing that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9 WEB.
We also ask for Your help, Father. Give us the strength to resist this temptation. Show us the way of escape when we are tempted. Heal our minds and hearts from these impure thoughts. Help us to focus on what is pure, lovely, and of good report Philippians 4:8 WEB.
Thank You, Father, for the power of the Holy Spirit working in us, giving us the victory over this sin. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, beloved, God loves you and wants the best for you. He wants you to be free from all sin, including lust. Trust in Him and in His power to deliver you. As you continue to walk with Him and grow in your relationship with Jesus, you will see victory in this area of your life.
Keep your eyes on Jesus and allow God to heal you completely. If you are truly struggling consider asking for accountability from your pastor or another Christian Brother or Sister. Since you did not mention any relationship it would be best to be cautious of any current relationships and possibly pray about that as well.
Finally, if you have not already, make sure Jesus is your Lord and Savior. It is only through Him that we can be saved, forgiven, and have access to God.
