๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿป Forgiveness Verbally Pronounced, Lk 23:17, Go and Sin No More, Jn 8:10-11, True Repentance, Lk 24:47 ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ๐Ÿ‘Opened by๐Ÿ’กof God's ๐Ÿ“– 2 Cor 4:4-6 Quits self over god Gen 3:1-15, New ๐Ÿ’ Ezek 36:26 Jn 3:3-7... ๐Ÿ™ Father, first and foremost, we thank You -- You were in Christ, reconciling the world to Yourself, not counting our sins against us, 2 Cor 5:19. I totally forgive my wife for everything, so that she may be forgiven, Matt 16:19, John 20:23, and that I may demonstrate my sins have forgiven been forgiven me, as I forgive others, specifically the one who has hurt me most, Matt 6:15, Mk 11:26, Eph 4:32, Col 3:13, even as Jesus asked that You forgive those who crucified Him, "Father, forgive them, they don't know what they're doing," Luke 23:17, and Stephen in Acts imitated this while being stoned to death, "Lord, do not count this sin against them," Acts 7:59-60. Of course we pray she does not continue in sin, that nothing worse may befall her, Jn 5:15, but rather Repents, Turns back to God so she can be saved, Luke 24:46-47, Experiences Refreshing, Acts 3:19, Renewal by Your washing of regeneration by Your mercy, since the kindness of God has appeared, so we might be justified by faith, in Jesus Christ, be made heirs with Him, share the hope of eternal life, and devote ourselves to good deeds, Tit 3:3-8. We ask her mind would be set free by by the Light of God's Word, so Light would shine in her heart so she may receive the Light of The Knowledge of The Glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ, 2 Cor 4:4-6 Quits self over god Gen 3:1-15, New ๐Ÿ’ Ezek 36:26, Experiences New Birth Jesus said is a necessity to enter or even see the kingdom of God, Jn 3:3-7... ๐ŸงŽ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธFather, You will that none would perish but all come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9. Grant her wisdom and revelation to actually know You, Eph 1:17. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of The Holy one is understanding, Prov 9:10. Surely You take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather they turn from their evil ways and live, Ezek 33:11... You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:4. Eternal fire was prepared for the devil and his angels, Matt 25:41, not humans that were originally made to image God, Gen 1:27.

We ask for grace and discipline to add fasting, Mk 4:29, which the early church said, "fasting and giving lends wings to prayer," (Early Church Father, 155AD - 240AD). Help the one compassionate, honest and understanding family member learn to fear God all the day long, Prov 23:17, LET NO ONE DECEIVE HER, Matt 24:4, be saved by trusting Jesus work on the cross, 2 Cor 5:21, evidenced by repentance for remission of sins, Luke 24:46-47, and witness to truth, 1 Tim 4:16. I forgive this one who has broken covenantal faith and vows with no confession, remorse or repentance, for leading men into adultery and thus destruction, Prov 6:32, for neglecting pastoral counsel, texts and phone calls for months. I forgive her, she knows not what she does, Luke 23:34. If a king's heart is as channels of water in Your hand, Prov 21:1, how much more an individual that has chosen to feed on raisin cakes and needs repentance from serious sins, which Hosea's "deal with her" was based on repentance and faithfulness, see Hos 3:1-5. Jesus, after pronouncing that forgiving the sins of other has authority, John 8:10-11, John 20:23, said, "Go and sin no more," John 8:10. I've reached out, am still reaching out, have prayed and fasted, am still praying and asking for wisdom and grace to fast -- let her not be to me as most of Jerusalem was unwilling to gather under the Shelter of Wings of God Almighty, Ps 17:8, Ps 57:1, 91:1, or come to Jesus, over which He publicly wept, they having stoned those sent to rescue them, Matt 23:37... Thankfully she is in a country that is impossible to get the "D" word. I know I have the adultery clause from Jesus which allows me to "D" and remarry, Matt 5:32, Matt 19:9, however only in The Lord, 1 Cor 7:39, see being equally yoked, 2 Cor 6:14-15, Old Testament precedent, Gen 24:3-4. And if she is unsaved, which everything indicates, there is the desertion by an unbelieving spouse clause, 1 Cor 7:15, where traditional, modern and ancient Jewish theology all allow for remarriage as if the unbelieving spouse (or adulteress) "were dead." However I am thinking and ASKING for mercy, kindness for repentance and salvation here, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 Tim 2:1-7. Maybe she was saved but probably just a church goer, but, regardless, "If any of you wanders from the truth and someone turns her back it's considered turning a sinner from the errors of their ways, and counted as a soul saved from death, and covers a multitude of sins, James 5:19-20? I ask for that THAT -- may THAT yield a remarkable testimony of God's saving grace, 1 Tim 1:15-16, and exemplify Christ and The Church, Eph 5:32-33. So I again ask for wisdom, Prov 2:1-5, Col 1:9-10, James 1:5, and for love to abound in knowledge and discernment to choose the highest, Phil 1:9-11, yet asking for it loosely as CHRIST in the Garden of Gethsemane, Matt 26:39, Mk 14:36, Luke 22:42 -- NEVERTHELESS, let YOUR WILL BE DONE, Matt 6:10, Heb 5:7.

Soften her heart and protect her (also the youth, and all of us that actually ask God to save her so the little ones do not stumble, Mt 18:16, Mk 9:42, Lk 17:2), keep her from temptation and evil, Matt 6:13. Let LIGHT SHINE that penetrates darkness, Jn 1:5, 1 Jn 1:5, 2 Cor 4:4, 2 Cor 4:6, to open their eyes, turning this one from the power of darkness to light, and power of satan to God, that they may partake of the inheritance along with all who are sanctified by faith in Jesus Christ, Acts 26:18, 1 Cor 1:30. Help her, them (and all of us) use our "Bible Apps" and understand what it says enough to let the Words You have caused to live inside become flesh in real life, Jn 1:12, James 1:22-23. Let "Jesus Christ's love be publicly portrayed," Gal 3:1, and model it to each and every family member, those most near and dear and beyond and blinded -- let us be living epistles known and read by all, 2 Cor 3:2. All Scripture is inspired by God Almighty and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right," 2 Tim 3:15-16. "Do not take us out of the world, but keep us from the evil one," John 17:15. "Sanctify us by the truth; Your word is truth," John 17:17. Thank you in The Name of Jesus, The One Mediator between God and Man, 1 Tim 2:5, in Jesus' Name.

"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh," Ezek 36:26.
"But this is the covenant I'll make... I'll put My law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I'll be their God; they'll be My people," Jer 31:33.
Jesus replied, "Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless one is born again," Jn 3:3, "Do not be amazed that I said, 'You must be born again,'" John 3:7.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation with deep concern and fervent prayer. The pain of broken covenants, unrepentant sin, and the fracture of a marriage vows is not something we take lightly. Yet we stand on the unshakable truth of Godโ€™s Word, which declares that nothing is impossible for Him, even the restoration of a hardened heart.

First, we must address the gravity of what has transpired. Adultery is a grievous sin, a violation of the sacred covenant between a husband and wife, and a direct rebellion against Godโ€™s design for marriage (Exodus 20:14, Matthew 5:27-28). The betrayal of trust, the breaking of vows, and the leading of others into sin (Proverbs 6:32) are not matters to be minimized. Yet we also recognize that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and that the same grace that saves us is the grace we must extend to others, even when it feels impossible.

You have chosen to forgive, as Christ forgave those who crucified Him (Luke 23:34), and as Stephen forgave those who stoned him (Acts 7:60). This is a powerful act of obedience, for Jesus Himself warned that if we do not forgive others, neither will our Father forgive us (Matthew 6:15). Yet forgiveness does not mean ignoring sin or enabling its continuation. Jesus, after forgiving the woman caught in adultery, commanded her, "Go, and sin no more" (John 8:11). True repentance is not just sorrow over consequences but a turning away from sin and toward God (2 Corinthians 7:10). We must pray not only for forgiveness but for genuine transformation, a new heart, a new spirit, as Ezekiel 36:26 promises.

We also lift up the reality of the marriage covenant. God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), not because He is indifferent to suffering, but because it represents the tearing apart of what He has joined together (Matthew 19:6). Yet we also see in Scripture that there are circumstances where the innocent party is not bound, particularly in cases of unrepentant adultery (Matthew 5:32, 19:9) or desertion by an unbelieving spouse (1 Corinthians 7:15). These are not loopholes but provisions for mercy when a covenant has been irreparably broken. However, we must not rush to this conclusion. The heart of God is always for reconciliation, for the prodigal to return (Luke 15:11-32), for the lost sheep to be found (Luke 15:4-7). We must pray for wisdom, as you have, to discern whether this is a season for patient endurance, for confrontation in love (Matthew 18:15-17), or for the painful but necessary step of release.

Yet above all, we must pray for salvation. The greatest tragedy is not a broken marriage but a soul lost to eternal separation from God. You have rightly pointed out that God desires all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9) and that He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11). We must intercede for your wife, that the eyes of her heart would be enlightened (Ephesians 1:18), that the god of this world would no longer blind her (2 Corinthians 4:4), and that she would be born again, not of flesh but of the Spirit (John 3:3-7). This is not a mere religious awakening but a supernatural work of God, where the old passes away and all things become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

We also pray for you, that you would not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9), that you would be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being (Ephesians 3:16), and that you would walk in wisdom, knowing when to speak and when to remain silent (Ecclesiastes 3:7). Fasting and prayer are powerful weapons in spiritual warfare (Mark 9:29), and we encourage you to persist in them, trusting that God hears the cries of His people (Psalm 34:17).

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened by the brokenness of this marriage, yet filled with hope because of Your unfailing love. Lord, You are the God who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5), who turns hearts of stone into hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26), and who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

We lift up this wife to You, Father. We ask that You would break the chains of deception, that the scales would fall from her eyes, and that she would see the truth of her sin, not to condemn her, but to lead her to repentance (Romans 2:4). Soften her heart, Lord, and let her hear Your voice calling her to return (Jeremiah 3:22). If she has never truly known You, we pray that she would be born again, that she would confess with her mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in her heart that You raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). Let her experience the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5), that she may be saved and walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4).

For this husband, Father, we ask for strength and wisdom. Guard his heart from bitterness (Hebrews 12:15) and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give him discernment to know Your will, whether it is to wait in hope, to confront in love, or to release with grace. If reconciliation is Your plan, let it be a testimony to Your power to restore what was broken. If not, let him walk in freedom, knowing that You are his Defender and Redeemer (Psalm 18:2).

We pray for protection over this family, Lord. Keep the youth from stumbling (Matthew 18:6) and let them see the love of Christ lived out in real ways. Let the light of Your truth penetrate every darkness, exposing lies and bringing healing. Raise up godly influences in their lives, people who will speak truth, model integrity, and point them to You.

Father, we also pray for the church. Let us not be a people who merely go through the motions but who are living epistles, known and read by all (2 Corinthians 3:2). Let our marriages reflect the love of Christ for His Bride (Ephesians 5:25-32), and let us be quick to forgive, slow to anger, and abounding in love (1 Peter 4:8).

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only Name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), the One who intercedes for us at Your right hand (Romans 8:34). May Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

We ache with you as we sit with this request. Your words carry the heavy cost of broken covenant, and we can see how faithfully you have wrestled before God. Declaring โ€œI totally forgive my wife for everythingโ€ is not a small thing, it is a profound act of obedience, even when the feelings still churn. You have chosen to release her into Godโ€™s hands rather than hold onto revenge or bitterness, and that matters deeply.

It might help to remember that forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same. You have made the decision to forgive, that is a gift you have already given, and it frees you to love and pray without being consumed by resentment. The rebuilding of the relationship, a true reconciliation, is a later step that will need her repentance and change as well. What you are doing now, staying soft-hearted while still waiting, is not a contradiction. It is honest, costly love.

Your longing to see her turn back to God echoes His own heart, and we can feel that you are pleading not just for a restored marriage but for her very soul. That is holy ground. Carry that burden, but do not carry it alone. Is there a trusted pastor, an elder, or a mature brother in Christ you can invite into this journey, someone who can pray with you face to face, offer steady perspective, and help you discern next steps without becoming a solitary weight? You have been walking this road for a long time, and you were not made to bear such ache in isolation.

Let us pray with you now.

Lord Jesus, we bring this husband before You, worn but still holding on. Thank You for the forgiveness he has extended, even when the wound is raw. Shield his heart from despair, and surround him with friends who will sit with him in the waiting. We ask You to reach his wife: soften what is hard, open what is shut, and send light into the darkness that keeps her from seeing her need for You. Protect her from evil, and protect all who love her from stumbling. Give this man wisdom for each day, not just for the big decisions but for the quiet, lonely moments. Hold him steady in Your faithful love. Amen.

You speak much of forgiveness pronounced, yet true forgiveness is not a mere utterance of the lips, but a work of grace that brings the soul to kiss the feet of the crucified Savior. Be not too quick to suppose that the matter ends with your declaration of pardon. There is a repentance that gives God glory, and there is a sorrow of the world that works death. Your wife may yet be among those who repented not to give Him glory, and if this be so, all your verbal absolution cannot unbar the gates of hell. The forgiveness that avails is that which flows from the Fatherโ€™s heart when a sinner, by the Spiritโ€™s power, is brought to loathe sin because it is against a holy God, not merely because it brings misery. I charge you to consider whether your eagerness to pronounce her forgiven has left her dull to the weight of her transgression. The kisses of the prodigalโ€™s father fell on a son who had already come to himself in a far country; they did not precede his return.

Do you not see that a false peace is the most cruel gift you could bestow? If she remains impenitent, her case is as the man who sweeps his house and garnishes it, only for seven devils worse than the first to enter in. The Lord Jesus did not say, โ€œGo in peaceโ€ without first exposing sin and demanding amendment of life. He who told the woman taken in adultery to โ€œgo and sin no moreโ€ had first written her condemnation in the dust and left her conscience naked before holy eyes. Your wifeโ€™s soul cries not for a husband who forgives hastily while she yet rolls sin under her tongue as a sweet morsel; she needs the voice of the Law thundering from Sinai before the still small voice of Calvary can be heard. He who heals a wound slightly is no true physician. I bid you tremble lest by your soft handling you become a surgeon who speaks peace where there is no peace, daubing the wall with untempered mortar.

Yet there is a holy ground beneath your feet, for you have spoken of fasting and a weeping heart. Here is the spirit of true intercession. The man who can forgive the adulteress not for her merits but for Christโ€™s sake, and then wrestle with God like Jacob, refusing to let go until the blessing descends, this man walks in the footsteps of Samuel, who said, โ€œGod forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you.โ€ Continue, then, to take your wife before the mercy seat, not with the proud petition that demands her return to you, but with the broken cry that she be made a monument of sovereign grace. Do not grow weary because the heavens seem brass. Manasseh was a devil incarnate, yet a fowlerโ€™s net could not hold him when the Spirit of God drew him to repentance. Your wife is no more beyond the reach of omnipotent love than was he.

But mark this: prayer without plain dealing is hypocrisy. You ask that her eyes be opened; go then and speak the truth in love, sharp as a sword, tender as a motherโ€™s tears. She has despised pastoral counsel and silenced your calls, this is the hardness of a heart that says to God, โ€œDepart from me.โ€ Do not be content with silent groans. There comes a time when the wounded husband must say with Nathan, โ€œThou art the woman,โ€ not to shame, but to awaken. Let her know that while you stand ready to cover her as Boaz did Ruth, there can be no true restoration while she walks in the counsel of the ungodly. The Lord who commands us to forgive seventy times seven also commands us to rebuke our brother if he sin, that we may gain him. Your forgiveness is a river; let it not stagnate into a marsh of compromise, but let it flow strong and clear, carving a channel for repentance through the rocky soil of her soul.

Let me press this upon you: do not make an idol of the marriage bond. You cite the adultery clause and the desertion clause, as if you were reading a legal document, but the Lord looks on the heart. I will not counsel you to seek divorce, for God hates putting away, yet I will not bind chains on you that Christ has loosened. But this I say, your first and great concern must be her salvation, not her return to your hearth. What would it profit if she sat again at your table but rose not at the marriage supper of the Lamb? Make it your chief ambition to see her washed in the fountain filled with blood, even if that washing must be attested by rivers of your own grief. He who plucks a brand from the burning often scars his own hands.

Consider that the Fatherโ€™s heart yearns over her more than yours ever could. Did He not run to meet the prodigal while he was yet a great way off? Yet that prodigal had first turned his face homeward. The swoop of divine love awaits the first tremor of true repentance. Pray, then, for a holy disturbance in her soul. Ask the Spirit to make her bed hard and her bread bitter until the swine troughs of her sin sicken her. Only when a sinner is shut up to despair in self does Christ become precious. You cannot do this work; no man can bring a soul to the new birth. But your prayers can lay her like a paralytic at the feet of Jesus, and He who is mighty to save will speak the word in His own time.

Do not expect that true repentance will be a gentle spring shower; it may be a hurricane that tears up every false hope by the roots. Davidโ€™s bones waxed old through his roaring all the day long before Nathanโ€™s word broke the abscess of his guilt. If your wife is ever to share the joy of salvation, she must first know the terrible pit and the miry clay. Will you not trust God for a work in her that goes beyond patching up a broken covenant? The new heart promised in Ezekiel is not a refurbished old one; it is a creation, a resurrection from the dead. Wait on the Lord with this confidence: that though her sins be as scarlet, they shall be as wool, if she will but turn at His reproof. But that turning is her act under divine grace; you cannot repent for her, any more than you could die for her sins.

I leave you with this: the intercession of Jesus ever lives for His own, and your intercession partakes of that eternal stream when it flows from a broken spirit. Yet remember that even the beloved Son prayed, โ€œIf it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt.โ€ So pray you, with ropes of importunity harnessed to the throne of grace, but always with the yielding, โ€œThy will be done.โ€ Perhaps the will of God is to make you a father to the fatherless and a husband to the destitute while your wife remains in a far country. Or perhaps He will yet give you the desire of your heart and bring her home with weeping and supplication. Either way, your business is to follow hard after God, to keep your garments unspotted from the world, and to watch for the morning. Love her, forgive her, pray for her, but above all, entrust her to Him who judges righteously and delights in mercy.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
