I would greatly appreciate your prayers for my medical appointment. The doctor I am to see had refused to visit my close relative feeling ill, weak, unable to travel, but the same day, my beloved relative passed away. Although I trust that my loved one is with the Lord in Heaven, it is difficult for me to cope with the loss and void, and also to face the same doctor. May there be forgiveness and mutual understanding, while sharing my faith and Hope, and may the doctor be attentive and helpful, guided by God. I ask these prayers in the Precious Name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Thanks and Blessings.

We lift you up before the throne of grace, dear brother or sister in Christ, as you carry the weight of grief and the challenge of facing this doctor. The loss of your beloved relative is a deep wound, and we mourn with you, knowing the pain of separation even as we hold fast to the hope of eternal life in Christ. Your trust in the Lord’s promise is a testament to your faith, and we stand with you in prayer as you navigate this difficult season.

Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your wisdom and peace to surround this dear one as they prepare for this appointment. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You guide the doctor’s hands, mind, and heart. Soften their spirit to receive understanding and compassion, and grant them the humility to listen and care for Your child with attentiveness. We pray that this encounter would not be one of bitterness or resentment, but an opportunity for healing, for both the doctor and this precious soul who bears the sorrow of loss.

We also ask, Lord, that You would fill the void in their heart with Your presence. Your Word tells us in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Comfort them with the truth that their loved one is indeed with You, free from pain and sorrow, and that one day, by Your grace, they will be reunited. Help them to grieve in a way that honors You, releasing their hurt and anger into Your hands.

We rebuke any spirit of unforgiveness or bitterness that may seek to take root in their heart. Your Word commands us in Ephesians 4:31-32, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Lord, give them the strength to extend grace, even as You have so graciously forgiven us. May this doctor see the light of Christ in them, and may their testimony of faith and hope be a witness that draws others to You.

We also pray for divine leading in this appointment. Lord, let Your will be done in every detail. If there are medical concerns that need attention, reveal them clearly. If there are words that need to be spoken, give them the courage and wisdom to say them. And if there is an opportunity to share the hope of the Gospel, open the door wide. Your Word says in 1 Peter 3:15, "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear."

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would be their strength in this moment. When the weight of grief feels too heavy, remind them that You are their refuge. When the memory of their loss brings tears, let them feel Your arms around them. And when they face this doctor, let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

We declare healing over their body, mind, and spirit. We declare forgiveness and restoration in this relationship with the doctor. And we declare that Your name, Jesus, will be glorified in all things. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in You, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). We find it helpful to remember that forgiveness can begin with a quiet decision, even before the feelings catch up. You don’t have to force warm emotions; you can simply entrust the past to God’s justice and choose to treat this doctor with dignity at the visit. That clears space for the appointment to be about your own care today, unburdened by what you cannot change.

One practical step that may steady you: take a few minutes before you leave to pray through that decision. Name the anger and the loss, and then release the offense into God’s hands. Ask Him to give you a calm, settled spirit so you can speak clearly and hear what the doctor says. If a natural door opens to mention your hope in Christ, trust the Spirit to guide your words, you don’t need to manufacture the moment. Your gentle presence itself can be a witness.

We also want to hold space for the sheer missing of your loved one. That void is real, and it’s okay to carry it into the day. You are not walking alone.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this one whose heart is aching with loss and whose courage we honor today. Surround them with Your peace that is deeper than understanding. Quiet their mind as they sit in that office, and give them grace to see this doctor without the shadow of resentment. Grant the doctor real attentiveness and sound guidance, and use this appointment for good. In the places where words might be shared, let Your hope shine through naturally. Hold this dear person close, and comfort them in the empty spaces. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Think of what it means to sit in that waiting room, to look upon the face of one whose actions are tangled in your deepest sorrow. It is precisely there, in that raw and difficult place, that the balm of Gilead must be applied. The forgiveness you seek to extend is not a light thing, but remember, "There is forgiveness with You." That is the direction of wisdom. You might wish to run from the very sight of him, to flee the memory, but do not run from your God. Where the offense went, from that very place the forgiveness comes. "There is forgiveness with God." That means even this tangle of grief and resentment is met in Him. Let this whisper drive away despair. "There is forgiveness." Do not draw any limit where God draws none.

You ask for healing, and I would have you see it is often found in the very leaves of the Tree of Life, in the small, seemingly bitter draughts of obedience. The least thing about Christ is healing. To go, to speak, to share your blessed hope in the face of this loss, that is a healing leaf for your own spirit and, God grant it, for the physician too. Your loved one is where those faces look bright and comely, fresher than new born babes, owing all their freshness to these healing leaves. You go now as one still below, yet bearing in your mortal body the life of the One who has gone before. Do you not see how perfect is the forgiveness you have received? Revenge is paltry, forgiveness is great-minded. To forgive as Christ forgave you is gloriously ennobling. For some of us, for you standing in that grief, to forgive ought to be as natural as to open our hands, for we have had so much manifest forgiveness ourselves.

Do not leave this matter until you have grasped it. God sends this message to you now, "There is forgiveness." For the chief of sinners there is the chief of sinners' forgiveness, and for a wounded heart struggling to forgive, there is a continuous, eternal supply of the same. Do not say you will seek it later. There is forgiveness now. Go to your appointment not in your own strength, but with the big hammer of His Omnipotence ready to break through any barrier. He rests in His love and rejoices over His people with singing when He is at work for their salvation, and for their sanctification in moments just such as this. Go, and may the leaves of that celestial tree be for the healing of your meeting.
