For those worried about going to Hell

Humble Servant of All
No there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ, that's what the Bible said (not 100% accurate but) I struggle with believing that I am going to Heaven because I commit lust all the time, people say it's because I am a teenager but don't believe them, it doesn't exclude your sin. But the Bible says this; kjv Romans 4:13-15 - For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. I hope this helps, I also want prayers for lust if that's okay

We thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for wanting to encourage others who are worried about going to hell while also being honest about your own struggle. We hear your battle with lust and your desire to be right with God, and we want to stand with you in prayer and in the truth of Scripture.

You are right that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, as it is written There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit Romans 8:1. That promise is true and it is our assurance, but it is for those who are in Christ, who have repented and put their faith in Him, and who are walking according to the Spirit and not continuing to live according to the flesh. You are also right to reject the idea that being a teenager excuses lust. Sin is sin at any age, and God calls every one of us to holiness. How can a young man keep his way pure By living according to your word Psalm 119:9. So we commend you for not making an excuse for sin.

You quoted Romans 4:13-15 and you are right that we are not made right with God by keeping the law but through the righteousness of faith. The promise was not through the law but through faith, because the law brings wrath. Yet this does not mean the law no longer shows us what sin is, or that we are free to keep sinning. We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer What shall we say then Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound May it never be Romans 6:1-2. Grace does not give us permission to lust, grace teaches us to say no to it, for the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world Titus 2:11-12. And the Lord Jesus himself said but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart Matthew 5:28. That is why lust must be confessed as sin and turned from, not excused.

At the same time we want to encourage you that struggling with temptation does not mean you are lost if you are truly in Christ and you are fighting against it, confessing it, and seeking to turn from it. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. God knows our frame and He is faithful to forgive when we come to Him through Jesus. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. When we come in Jesus name with a repentant heart, we can have confidence that He hears and cleanses us.

For your struggle we want to share what Scripture commands us to do. Flee youthful lusts but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart 2 Timothy 2:22. And Flee sexual immorality Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. We are to walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh Galatians 5:16. This is practical. It means guarding what our eyes see, what we watch and look at on a phone or computer, making no provision for the flesh, renewing our minds daily in the Word, memorizing Scripture to fight temptation, praying immediately when tempted, and seeking accountability with a mature Christian man who can pray with you and ask you hard questions. God created sexual desire to be fulfilled only within marriage between a man and a woman, and outside of that marriage any sexual thought or act is to be fled from.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we thank You for this young heart that wants to know You and to be assured of heaven and to be free from lust. We thank You that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and we ask You to deepen his faith and assurance that is rooted not in his own works but in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Forgive his sins as he confesses them, cleanse him from all unrighteousness, and help him to truly repent and turn from every lustful thought and habit. Give him strength to flee youthful lusts, to guard his eyes and his mind, to walk by Your Spirit and not fulfill the desires of the flesh. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, renew his mind with Your Word, and make Your Word hidden in his heart that he might not sin against You. Help him to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, and surround him with godly fellowship and accountability. When he is tempted, make a way of escape that he may endure it, and remind him that You are faithful and that Your grace teaches him to live godly. Restore to him the joy of Your salvation and the peace that he is Yours. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep bringing this struggle into the light, to confess quickly, to stay in the Word daily, to pray without ceasing, and to remember that God is not looking for perfection in your own strength but for a heart that trusts Jesus and turns from sin to follow Him. Keep your eyes on Christ, keep fighting, and know that He who began a good work in you will complete it.

We appreciated you sharing both ways - wanting to encourage others who worry about hell, and being honest about your own struggle with lust and assurance. That honesty takes courage, and we hear how much you want to walk faithfully with Jesus.

It's understandable to feel torn when you believe in God's grace and at the same time feel weighed down by a repeated sin. Being a teenager doesn't make the struggle less real, and the fact you take it seriously shows your heart is turned toward the Lord, not away from Him. Assurance rests not on feeling perfect, but on trusting what Christ has done for you and continuing to walk with Him day by day.

One practical step that helps many young men and women in this same battle is to bring it into the light with one safe, mature believer - a pastor, youth leader, or older Christian you trust - who can check in with you regularly and pray with you. Trying to fight it alone in private often makes it stronger. Having clear boundaries too, especially with your phone and alone time at night, and having a simple plan to turn to prayer or to get up and do something else when temptation comes, can give you space to choose differently.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying.

Father, we lift this young brother to You. Thank You for his faith and his desire to please You. Give him deeper confidence in Your mercy through Jesus, strength to turn from lust when it tempts him, and wise support around him. Lead him closer to You each day and give him peace as he trusts You. In Jesus' name, amen.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, and this truth is the very music of heaven to a burdened conscience. Your hope is rightly placed not in your own steadfastness but in Him, for there is no condemnation to them solely because they are in Christ Jesus. Their being in Christ Jesus is the great method by which, alone, they have escaped condemnation. Our union with Him is inseparable and, therefore, our condemnation is impossible.

You have quoted well from Romans, that the promise was not to Abraham through the law, but through the righteousness of faith, for the law worketh wrath. This teaches us that salvation never did come by law keeping, and never can. If we look for salvation by self, we shall find only wrath, for we have all transgressed. But salvation is by Divine Grace through faith in Christ Jesus. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. What is believing on Him? It is trusting in Him, leaving the whole matter of your present and eternal salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence, depending upon Him without fear.

You ask rightly about assurance while you yet struggle with lust. Hear then two things together. First, if you can truly say, I hide in Christ, then this text plays sweeter music than ever fell from angel lips. Look unto Him and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for beside Him there is none else. A look does not require a moment, and that look saves. The eyes that look to Christ for salvation vanquish the Savior, for He delights to save.

Second, salvation when it comes delivers the man from the power of sin. Hast thou escaped the corruption which is in the world through lust? If not, what hast thou to do with salvation? To any right minded man deliverance from unholy principles is regarded as the greatest of all blessings. To as many as believe not in the Lord Jesus Christ, who walk after the flesh and not after the Spirit, there is nothing but condemnation so long as they remain in that state. Infirmities and weaknesses and things to grieve over, yes, plenty of them, but no condemnation to those who are in Christ and who walk after the Spirit. Yet the Lord will not leave His own to make peace with sin.

Do not believe those who would excuse sin because you are young. Sin is sin at any age, and lust, which seeks what God has reserved for the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman in marriage, is sin against God and must be mortified, not excused. But Christ came to save from sin, not to leave us in it. He is able to make the young man cleanse his way by taking heed thereto according to His word.

I will pray for you as you have asked.

O Lord God, look upon this soul who desires to be Thine and fears condemnation. Reveal to him more clearly that salvation is in Christ alone, and give him faith to look unto Jesus and be saved. Let him know with divine assurance that He has made peace with God by His precious blood. And by that same grace, deliver him from the power of lust. Give him hatred for sin and hunger for holiness, strength to flee temptation, to make a covenant with his eyes, to walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh. Keep him in Christ, where there is now no condemnation, and keep Christ in him, that he may be kept from sin. Let him not be ashamed who trusts in Thee, but let him sing unto the Lord, the Rock of his salvation. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior, Amen.

Keep looking to Christ. Faith is an instantaneous act at its beginning, and then it remains as an abiding grace. Abide in Him, feed upon His word, flee from every occasion to sin, seek the company of those who will help you seek the Lord, and pray without ceasing that He who has begun a good work in you will keep you until the day of His appearing.
