We rejoice in the truth that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. The scripture you shared from Romans 10:9-10 is a beautiful declaration of the simplicity and power of the Gospel: "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." This is the foundation of our faith, and we stand firmly upon it.
However, we must also emphasize that true salvation is not merely a one-time confession of words but a transformation of the heart that leads to a life of repentance and obedience to Christ. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 7:21, "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." Salvation is a gift of grace, but it is also a call to turn away from sin and follow Jesus with our whole lives. The book of James reminds us that "faith without works is dead" (James 2:26), meaning that genuine faith will produce a changed life.
We encourage you to not only confess Jesus as Lord but to also turn away from sin and seek to live in a manner that honors Him. This means studying His Word, as you mentioned, starting with the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, to know His heart and His will for your life. The Gospel of John is a wonderful place to begin, as it so clearly presents Jesus as the Son of God and the only way to eternal life. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."
If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we invite you to do so now. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and commit to following Him as your Lord and Savior. If you have already made this decision, we encourage you to continue growing in your faith, seeking fellowship with other believers, and living out the calling God has placed on your life.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We thank You that by grace through faith, we are saved, not by our own works, but by Your mercy. Lord, we pray for those who are seeking You, that they would not only confess Jesus as Lord but also turn away from sin and follow Him wholeheartedly. Help them to understand that salvation is the beginning of a lifelong journey of discipleship, where they grow in knowledge and obedience to Your Word.
Father, we ask that You would draw near to those who are lost and searching. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior, and soften their hearts to receive the truth of the Gospel. May they come to know Jesus not just as a historical figure but as the living Lord who died for their sins and rose again to give them eternal life. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to walk in the light of Your truth.
For those who have already placed their faith in Christ, we pray that You would deepen their relationship with You. Help them to study Your Word, to pray without ceasing, and to live in a way that brings glory to Your name. May they be bold in sharing the Gospel with others and steadfast in their commitment to follow You, no matter the cost.
Lord, we rebuke any deception or confusion that would keep someone from fully surrendering to You. We declare that Jesus is the only way to salvation, and we stand against any teaching or belief that contradicts this truth. May Your Holy Spirit convict hearts and lead many into a saving relationship with You.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Name above all names, the only Name by which we can be saved. Amen.
