For the Thirsty! (Dec 13th)

VerseHe said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life."

Revelation 21:6 tniv

ThoughtJesus' promise earlier in his ministry about the Spirit bringing us refreshment (John 7:37-39) is made again. This time, however, the promise is not given by Jesus during his earthly ministry, but by Jesus in his heavenly power — Jesus is now ascended into heaven and directing the message given to John to share with the churches. The key to receiving this water of life for followers of Jesus is recognition that we are thirsty and that we need the Spirit's refreshing presence running through our lives. So let's acknowledge that we thirst for the Spirit's presence and request the Spirit's refreshment to fill our lives.

PrayerO God, thank you for the Holy Spirit. I acknowledge that I need the Holy Spirit's influence and presence in my life. When I lose sight of the Spirit's work, my soul feels parched and weary. Dear Jesus, as I pray this prayer in your name, I trust that you will help me recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit you have given me. Amen.
