For my wife

Stoomarmond

Disciple of Prayer
I’ve tried reaching out and nothing. I don’t know what else to do. I guess I pray that the lord enters her heart, and I hope she finds peace

We hear the pain in your words, and our hearts ache with you as you long for your wife’s heart to turn toward the Lord. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it grieves us to see the distance between you. We stand with you in prayer, believing that God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

First, we must address the foundation of our prayers, salvation and access to God come only through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If your wife does not yet know Jesus as her Lord and Savior, we pray fervently for her to encounter His love and grace. The Bible tells us that no one can come to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). We lift her up to the Lord, asking that the Holy Spirit would draw her heart to repentance and faith in Christ.

For your marriage, we pray that God would soften her heart and open her eyes to His truth. The Scriptures tell us, "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain" (Psalm 127:1). We rebuke any hardness of heart, any lies of the enemy that may be keeping her from seeking God, and any sin that may be creating a barrier between her and the Lord. We declare that God’s Word does not return void (Isaiah 55:11), and we trust that He is at work even when we cannot see it.

We also encourage you to examine your own heart before the Lord. Are there areas where you may need to humble yourself, seek forgiveness, or extend grace? The Bible instructs husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). This is a high calling, and it requires patience, selflessness, and a reliance on God’s strength. We pray that you would be a reflection of Christ’s love to her, even in this difficult season.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage to You. Lord, we ask that You would break every chain of hardness, unbelief, or sin that is keeping this wife from knowing You. Soften her heart, Lord, and let Your light shine into the darkness. We pray that she would come to know Jesus as her Savior and Lord, that she would repent and turn to You with all her heart.

Father, we ask that You would restore this marriage according to Your will. Give this husband wisdom, patience, and a heart of love as he continues to pray and trust in You. Help him to love his wife as Christ loves the church, even when it is difficult. Lord, we rebuke any division, any lies of the enemy, and any sin that is causing strife in this relationship. We declare that Your peace, Your love, and Your healing power would flood this marriage.

We trust in Your timing, Lord, and we ask that You would work all things together for good (Romans 8:28). Strengthen this husband as he waits on You, and let him find his hope and identity in Christ alone. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.

Continue to stand on God’s promises, dear brother. The battle is the Lord’s, and He is faithful. Keep praying, keep loving, and keep trusting in Him. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He will not abandon you.

Your words carry both love and exhaustion, we can feel how much you’ve poured out, only to be met with silence. It’s a heavy place to be, and we’re honored to join you in prayer.

When a spouse becomes unreachable, it’s easy to believe we’ve run out of options. You’ve done what you know to do, and now you’re bringing her to the One who can reach past every wall. That’s not giving up, it’s placing her where real change happens. God knows her heart even when it feels locked to you, and your faithful love, even in the waiting, is a quiet witness that can’t be erased.

We think of how the enemy works to close hearts, to isolate, to wear us down until we stop hoping. But your prayers are pushing back against that. So keep praying, not just for her peace, but for your own heart too. Ask the Lord to carry the weight you’ve been shouldering and to show you any place in you that needs His gentle care during this stretch of waiting. Sometimes as we let Him strengthen us, new strength also breathes into our marriage.

Perhaps one small, practical step is to note, even just for yourself, when a crack of light appears, however small. That can help you spot where God is moving and keep your own hope anchored.

Lord Jesus, You see this husband’s heart and how he longs for his wife to know Your peace. Move in her life in ways only You can, even if it’s unseen right now. Soften her heart, draw her toward You, and let the love this man has planted in prayer and persistence bear fruit. Give him steady hope, guard him from despair, and hold this marriage in Your sure hands. Amen.

It is well that your heart is stirred to pray for your wife, even when your words seem to find no answer. Do not suppose that a prayer is lost because it is not yet answered in the way you expect. The very fact that you have found it in your heart to cry out for her is a token that the Lord has put that prayer there. As David said, "Thy servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer unto Thee." The prayer did not originate with David; it was thrown into his heart by the Master's hand. And so it is with you. The groaning that cannot form itself into ordered speech may be the truest prayer of all, the prayer of inward thirst, the prayer of faintness. When your tongue fails for thirst, your very silence cries out to God. He hears the miserable moan of a broken heart, and He will not despise it.

Your wife may seem far off, and your efforts to reach her have yielded nothing. But look beyond your own hand. The Lord who puts prayer into your heart is able also to put grace into hers. Remember, every true prayer that is accepted of God first came from God. He inclines us to pray; He instructs us how to pray; He encourages us to pray. Therefore, take heart. Your prayer is not the offspring of your own will, but a seed sown by the Holy Spirit. And what God plants, He will water. Do not think that because you cannot see the fruit, the root is dead. The winter of her soul may be long, but the springtime of the Spirit is sovereign.

In the meantime, cast yourself wholly upon the Lord for your own peace, and let your soul be stayed on Him. You shall enjoy that perfect peace which the world cannot give, peace, peace, even in the midst of sorrows surging round. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, a peace that is a present possession, even when the storm rages without. Let that peace garrison your heart, so that you do not grow weary in intercession. Pray with humility, like Jacob, who confessed his own unworthiness, and yet pleaded the promises. Lay hold of God’s covenant and argue your case before Him. Tell Him, “Lord, Thou hast commanded me to pray; Thou hast put this burden upon me; Thou hast promised to hear. I bring Thy promise before Thee: ‘I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.’”

Above all, keep your eye fixed upon the simple way of salvation for both yourself and her. It is not by works, nor by strivings, but by looking unto Jesus. “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth.” That look is instantaneous, and it brings everlasting life. Oh, that the Holy Spirit would grant her that look! She may be like one who cannot form a prayer, who knows only her own burden and the plague of her own heart. If she will but turn her eye toward Christ, He will hear her wordless cry. He is the prayer-hearing God; it is enough for Him to hear the sigh of a contrite spirit.

Go on, then, praying husband. You have already prayed one prayer in that silent heart-cry; now add another, and another. Let your whole being become a living intercession for her soul. Do not let Satan whisper that it is useless. The answer may come in a way you do not expect, as it did for Jacob, who wrestled and prevailed, but was left with a limp. God’s delays are not denials. His time is best. Only trust Him, and continue to plead the blood of Jesus. Sooner may heaven and earth pass away than one believing prayer fall to the ground. So breathe your prayer into the ear of the Lord Jesus, and leave it there. He will not lose it.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your reaching out, your prayer, your longing for her peace and salvation, these are not signs of failure but of love that mirrors the very heart of Christ. You feel you have done all, and she remains unmoved. But remember what the Apostle says of our High Priest: He ever lives to make intercession for us. Christ did not intercede once and then cease; His mediation continues without pause, for every soul, in every moment of need. Lay your wife before that ceaseless intercession. You are not alone in pleading; the Lord Himself pleads for her, and His plea is never refused.

Yet you wonder what else you can do. The preparation of the gospel of peace begins not in her heart first, but in yours. Walk in such a way that your feet are shod with readiness for peace. That means a life so transparent in virtue, so free from contention, that she sees the gospel alive in you. When we are at war with the devil, we are at peace with God. Let no bitterness, no sharp rebuke, no weary despair take root. If you must speak, speak only with the peace that comes from a pure heart, the peace that, even if insulted ten thousand times, returns no evil. Your patience may do more than a thousand arguments.

Consider Peter. After his boastful words he was silenced by a divine rebuke, and then he learned to hold his peace and let God work. There are times when our further striving only hinders. You have reached out; now your quiet, steadfast faithfulness becomes the message. Do not think your silence is abandonment. It is trust. The same God who reminded Elijah that He had reserved seven thousand faithful souls can reach your wife in ways you cannot see. Do not measure His work by what your eyes perceive.

And do not abandon hope even in the delay. Christ is able to save to the uttermost, completely, through all time and beyond all barriers. He has no successor, no end, no limit. Continue to call upon Him out of a pure heart, without deceit, without faction, and leave the outcome in His hands. You desire her peace: then be the living vessel of that peace. A stormy soul cannot calm another. Let your own heart rest in the intercession of the One who died and rose, who says to every troubled disciple, “Peace be unto you.” When she sees that unshakable peace in you, rooted not in circumstances but in the risen Lord, she may at last be drawn to its source.

The ache you carry is real, and it is right to bring it before the Lord. You long for your wife to know His peace, and that prayer is not wasted. In a home where one heart belongs to Christ, His presence is not limited to one room. The Scripture tells us that an unbelieving spouse is sanctified through the one who believes, and your children are not left in some unclean place but are set apart in a holy environment. Your quiet faithfulness places her within reach of grace every single day.

The first thing to guard against is the temptation to push. When a man presses hard, a woman often pulls away. The more words you throw at her, the more she may retreat. What changes the atmosphere is not argument but love that does not demand a response. God’s design for a husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church, not because she has earned it, but because he has committed himself to her for life. When she feels that security, that there is no other woman and never will be, her own heart finds room to breathe. Honor her. Cherish her. Let your tenderness be the thing she cannot explain away.

Ask the Lord to search your own heart, too. It is easy to want her to change so that your own life feels easier, but God looks deeper. Are you willing for Him to take away any hardness, any resentment, and replace it with His own compassion? Jesus had a heart that could be moved by anyone, even those who wounded Him. His heart broke, not in defeat, but in love so great that blood and water flowed out. That same love can live in you and soften what seems impossible.

Real peace is never found apart from grace. You can never manufacture it, and she cannot will it into being. It comes when the weight of performance lifts and the goodness of God is tasted. As you live before her, not perfectly, but honestly, with a tender heart and a quiet trust, she will see something different. She may not have words for it yet, but the life of Christ in you is a living sermon. How do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife? God has called you to peace in your home, not to warfare. Let that peace rule in your own spirit first, and trust Him to work in hers.
