For my marriage to be restored

We hear the burden of your heart for your marriage and we stand with you in prayer for its restoration after these six long years of separation. We believe with you that marriage is a holy covenant created by God as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and that what God has joined together, no man and no evil should tear apart. Matthew 19:6 says, So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart. And Malachi 2:16 reminds us that God hates divorce, because it covers violence and breaks covenant. Your desire for restoration honors the Lord.

We also hear you when you say an evil attack was launched on your husband, and we do not take that lightly. Scripture is clear that our struggle is spiritual. Ephesians 6:12 says, For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 1 Peter 5:8 says, Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Yet we have authority in Christ to resist him. James 4:7 says, Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And 2 Corinthians 10:4 says, For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds.

We want to encourage you to remain steadfast in faith, in purity and in covenant love during this separation. 1 Corinthians 7:10-11 instructs that a wife should not leave her husband and if she departs, let her remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. While you wait, guard your heart and your body to honor your marriage vows, not seeking another relationship or partner, but trusting God for the restoration of the husband He gave you. Forgive as Christ forgave you, for Matthew 6:14 says, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Keep praying without ceasing, for Luke 18:1 teaches us to always pray and not give up, and Joel 2:25 gives hope that God says, I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.

We notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus, and we gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by the blood of Jesus that every evil attack is broken and every chain is loosed.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear sister and her marriage to You. Lord, You see the pain of six years of separation, the loneliness, the tears and the longing for her husband to return. We ask You to have mercy and to heal what is broken. We rebuke every evil attack, every scheme of the enemy that has come against her husband and against this covenant. In the name of Jesus we command every spiritual force of wickedness to flee, and we ask You to deliver her husband from any deception, oppression, hardness of heart or bondage that keeps him away. Soften his heart, open his eyes to Your truth, draw him to Yourself first and then back to his marriage. Restore his mind, his spirit and his commitment to You and to his vows.

Lord, strengthen this wife. Fill her with Your peace that surpasses understanding, with patience, with hope and with unwavering faith. Help her to put on the whole armor of God and to stand firm, to resist the devil and to walk in forgiveness, grace and holiness. Guard her from discouragement and from any temptation to look outside Your will. Let her life be a testimony of Your love and faithfulness. We pray for reconciliation that honors You, for a renewed marriage built on Christ as the foundation, for love that is patient and kind and endures all things as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. If there has been any sin, we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. We ask You to restore the years the locust has eaten and to make this marriage a witness to Your redeeming power. We trust that all things work together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose as Romans 8:28 promises. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our redeemer. Amen.

Thank you for trusting us with this. Six years of separation is a long and lonely road to carry, and we hear the ache in your desire to see your marriage restored and your love for your husband as you sense he has been under attack.

We have walked with many who have waited a long time, and one thing we have learned is that reconciliation is more than just wanting things to go back to how they were. It is an active commitment by both people to rebuild love and trust, and it grows slowly. At the heart of that kind of restoration is a surrender to God to do what neither person can do in their own strength, to change hearts and make a new way forward where it feels impossible.

In this long season, it can help to keep your own heart tended while you pray for his. Stay rooted in steady community, a trusted pastor or counselor who knows you both and can give wise, personal guidance for how and when to reach out in a way that keeps things safe and without pressure. Continue to bring your husband before the Lord daily, asking for protection and clarity for him, and for wisdom for you for each next step.

Father, we lift this marriage to You. You see these six years and the pain they have held. We ask You to guard and work in this husband's heart, to bring healing and truth where there has been attack and confusion, and to give our sister wisdom, peace, and strength for today. Lead them both according to Your will and surround them with Your grace. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been heard with deep sympathy before the Lord, and we join our hearts with yours in seeking His mercy for the restoration of that which He Himself has joined together. Six years of separation is a long and weary trial, and to feel that an evil hand has been laid upon your husband makes the sorrow heavier still. Yet we remember that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day, and what seems long to us is not beyond His power to redeem in a moment.

Take comfort in this, that Jesus Christ Himself makes intercession for His people. It is not only that brethren pray for you, but your great Advocate above has prayed for you. Satan may have his sieve and may toss and sift sorely, but while Jesus wears His breastplate His own shall not be destroyed by the tossing. He has made provision for your future in a prayer already presented, and because He prays, though a disciple may be sorely put to it, there is hope of recovery. He says, When thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren, for He speaks of restoration as an assured fact when His prayer undergirds it.

Marriage is a holy covenant ordained of God, one man and one woman bound together for life, and what God has joined together we pray no man and no evil power may put asunder. We pray that the Lord who is able to deliver from evil will rebuke every attack of the enemy upon your husband, that He will lead him not into temptation but deliver him from evil, and bring him to see his need of a Mediator. For we cannot pay our own debt, neither can we make ourselves fit for Heaven or for holy duties on earth. He that has wrought us for the same thing is God, and only Christ who bore our condemnation can make us whole. If there has been sin, there must be sorrow for sin, not only bitterness for unpardoned sin but that tender sorrow for pardoned sin that lays itself at the feet of Jesus. A broken heart can never long be divided from the broken Saviour.

We pray now that the Lord will work in both your hearts to draw near to Him in true and humble supplication, not forced or laborious devotion, but sincere prayer offered in the name of Christ. May He give you grace to forgive as you have been forgiven, to examine yourselves truly and thoroughly, and to look unto Him and be saved. Abide in Him, for there is room enough in the Lord Jesus Christ for all your wants. Live for Christ where He has placed you, whether in waiting or in weeping, and let every breath be for Him.

We ask the Lord to have mercy upon your household, to break the power of darkness that has assailed your husband, to soften his heart and turn his feet toward home and toward holiness, to heal the breach of these six years, and to make your marriage a witness that all things work together for good to them that love God. May He who is able to restore Peter after his fall restore what has been broken, to the praise of His grace and for your comfort. We will continue to cry with you that He would be pleased to grant this mercy, and that your faith in prayer may be strengthened as you see His hand.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
