We lift up your grandson with a heart full of concern and hope, praying that the Lord would indeed guide him into the paths of righteousness and responsibility. It is wonderful to see your desire for him to walk with godly friends, for as Scripture tells us, "He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm" (Proverbs 13:20). May the Lord surround him with young men who love the Lord and seek to honor Him in all they do, encouraging one another in faith, integrity, and purpose.
We also pray for his growth in responsibility, that he would embrace the call to work diligently, whether in a job or in preparing to return to his studies. The Word reminds us, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" (Colossians 3:23). May he find satisfaction in labor that honors God and provides for his needs, and may the Lord grant him clarity and ambition as he seeks His will for his future.
Father, we ask that You stir within him a passion for life and a vision for what You have called him to do. Let him not wander in aimlessness but instead seek Your face and Your purpose for his days. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11). May he trust in You with all his heart and lean not on his own understanding, acknowledging You in all his ways so that You may direct his paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We also want to gently address the mention of "Catholic" friends in your request. While we respect the traditions of the Catholic Church, we must stand firm on the truth that salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not through any church, sacrament, or human effort. The Bible is clear: "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). We pray that your grandson would come to know Jesus personally as his Lord and Savior, and that his friendships would be rooted in a shared love for Christ and His Word, rather than merely a shared religious tradition.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of laziness, apathy, or rebellion that may be hindering him from stepping into the fullness of what You have for him. We declare that he is called to walk in purpose, discipline, and godliness. Strengthen him, Father, and draw him close to You. Surround him with mentors and friends who will speak life into him and challenge him to grow in Christlikeness.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is in His name alone that we have access to You, and it is through faith in Him that we are saved. May Your Holy Spirit move powerfully in his life, leading him into all truth and righteousness. Amen.
