For my friend

Tzuriel Nahem Athryn

Disciple of Prayer
My friend told me her ex from several years ago contacted him. God grand my friend wisdom. And help his ex and if it is your will and plan lead his ex to know Christ. In Jesus name and blood I pray, amen.

We join you in lifting up your friend before the Lord and we thank you for interceding with such care for both your friend and this former relationship.

We pray that God will grant your friend abundant wisdom and discernment in this situation. An unexpected contact from an ex after several years can stir up old emotions and confusion, so we ask the Lord to guard your friend's heart and mind. Scripture reminds us in James 1:5 that if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We also cling to Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. We pray your friend will seek the Lord earnestly, seek godly counsel, and not make decisions based on nostalgia or emotion alone but on the clear leading of the Holy Spirit and the truth of God's Word.

We also agree with you in praying for the ex. It is a beautiful and godly desire to pray that this person would come to know Christ if they do not already. We pray that the Lord would draw this ex to Himself, that any contact would ultimately be used for the glory of God and for salvation. We remember 1 Timothy 2:3-4 that God our Savior desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, and 2 Peter 3:9 that the Lord is not slow concerning his promise but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. If this ex does not know Jesus, we pray that the Lord would open their eyes to the truth that in John 14:6 Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me, and in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved.

We encourage your friend to maintain clear and godly boundaries. If there is any consideration of rekindling communication or a relationship, we pray it would be examined in the light of Scripture. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman designed by God, and any courtship should be entered into with the goal of finding a godly spouse who is a fellow believer in Christ. We remember 2 Corinthians 6:14 that we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity. If the ex is not a believer, the most loving thing your friend can do is to point them to Christ without entering into an emotionally entangled or romantic relationship that would not honor God, and to guard against fornication or compromise which is outside of marriage. We pray your friend will guard their heart as Proverbs 4:23 teaches, for out of it are the issues of life.

So together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name and blood of Jesus Christ and we lift up this friend to You. Grant wisdom that is from above, pure and peaceable and full of mercy. Give clarity, peace, and protection from confusion and temptation. Help this friend to hear Your voice and to walk in obedience, whether that means kindly closing the door on this past relationship or keeping it only as an opportunity to share the gospel at a distance with proper boundaries. Lord, we also lift up the ex to You. Have mercy and draw this soul to Yourself. Remove blindness, convict of sin, reveal the love and forgiveness found only in Jesus, and grant repentance and new life if it is Your will. Let Your perfect will be done in both lives, for Your glory and for their good. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We appreciate you bringing your friend before the Lord like this. It is a kind thing to intercede for both your friend and someone from his past, especially when an old contact can bring up a lot of questions.

We hear your heart for wisdom for him and for the Lord's work in his ex's life. When contact comes out of the blue after years, it is understandable to feel torn about what it means and how to respond. Wanting God's will above just reacting quickly is itself a wise posture.

One way we can support your friend is to stay steady beside him while he seeks clarity. Encourage him to take unhurried time to pray and to talk with a trusted pastor or mature believer before deciding on next contact, and to keep any communication clear, respectful and with healthy boundaries. That space often helps wisdom become clearer.

We are joining you in prayer for both of them.

Father, we ask You to give our friend clear wisdom and peace as he navigates this contact. Guard his heart and guide his steps according to Your will. We also lift his ex to You, asking that You draw her to know Christ and place people and truth in her path. Lead both of them toward what is good and honoring to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for your friend and for the one who once walked so near to him is heard with thankfulness, and we join our hearts with yours at the mercy seat.

We have entreated the Lord to grant your friend wisdom, for in the fear of the Lord is strong confidence and His children shall have a place of refuge. When the past comes knocking again, the soul has need of a clear eye and a steady foot, and that wisdom is found not in our own counsel but in waiting upon the Lord and hearkening to His Word. May your friend seek that wisdom in prayer, in the Scriptures, and in the counsel of godly and sober minded believers, that every step may be ordered in holiness and in the fear of God.

We have prayed also for the one who has made contact after these years, that the Lord in His mercy would draw that soul to Himself. There is a salvation which is altogether of God, planned by His wisdom, purchased by the blood of Christ, and applied by His Spirit, and it is to be had only through faith in Jesus Christ alone. We do not trust in any work of our own, but in Him who is the foundation stone laid in Zion. How suitable that salvation is for the chief of sinners, and how it makes the heart to rejoice when it is known. Our prayer is that this soul may come to know Christ, to see sin as God sees it, to turn from it, and to trust alone in the crucified and risen Saviour, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

We exhort your friend to walk circumspectly in this season. Let confidence be placed not in feeling or in old affection, but in the Lord who is our refuge. Let holiness be pursued, for those who are created in Christ Jesus are created unto good works which God has before ordained. If there be any question of renewing former ties, let it be weighed in the light of what God has ordained for marriage, that it is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that purity and honour belong within it.

May the Sun of Righteousness arise upon both with healing in His wings, and may your friend know that peace which is to be found in Christ alone, who has overcome the world. We will continue to pray that the Lord will give light, guard the heart, and bring salvation where it is yet needed, to the praise of His grace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your care for your friend and your desire to bring both your friend and his former companion before God is a mark of true friendship. A genuine friend prays for his friend for the same things he would ask for himself, and loves him enough to seek not what is easy but what leads to salvation.

We join you in this prayer. We ask God to grant your friend wisdom that is not of this world, but the wisdom that comes from above, the wisdom of the Gospel and of the Cross. The wisdom of this world cannot guide a heart well in such a moment, but God has promised to give wisdom generously to those who ask Him. May He make your friend steady, clear minded, and faithful, so that he may discern what is right and act in purity, self control, and holiness before the Lord.

We also pray as you have asked for the one who contacted him. Our greatest good for any person is that they would come to know salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for the word of the Cross is the power and wisdom of God unto salvation. We pray that God in His mercy would draw this person to Himself, open her eyes to the truth of the Gospel, grant repentance and faith in Christ, and make her new in Him. If it is His will to use this contact as an occasion for that saving work, we ask Him to do so.

May God keep your friend close to Himself through all temptations and uncertainties, remembering that when God is favorable to us we need not fear what man may do. We ask that He would guard both lives from what would harm the soul, and lead every step according to His good plan, whether that means a godly boundary or, if a relationship is ever to move forward, that it would only be in the holy covenant of marriage between one man and one woman as God designed.

We thank God for your faithful love as a friend, and we continue to pray with you that God would be glorified in the wisdom He gives and in the salvation He alone provides through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
