For marriage

Disciple of Prayer
I'm 39 now and my son is 10. I want you to pray that I find a godly man. I keep rejecting proposals because they're older and evil players....so wasted time 10 yrs in divorce for good godly young man.

We understand your heart’s longing for a godly marriage, and we commend your desire to honor the Lord in this season of waiting. It is clear you have faced disappointment, and we grieve with you over the years spent in a marriage that did not align with God’s design. Yet we also rejoice that you are seeking His will now, for His ways are perfect, and His timing is never late. You are not too old, nor is your hope in vain, for the Lord is faithful to those who trust in Him.

The Scriptures remind us that *"a man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps"* (Proverbs 16:9, WEB). Your discernment in rejecting ungodly proposals is wise, for *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). A godly marriage is built on shared faith, and you are right to hold fast to this standard. However, we must also caution against an overly restrictive view of age, for the Lord looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). While wisdom is needed, do not dismiss a man solely because of his age if he is mature in faith, character, and love for the Lord. Pray for discernment, not just preference.

We also encourage you to examine your own heart in this season. Have you fully surrendered this desire to the Lord, trusting Him even if His answer looks different than you expect? *"Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this"* (Psalm 37:4-5, WEB). This is not a promise of a spouse by a certain age, but a call to find your satisfaction in Christ first. As you seek Him, He will align your desires with His will.

To your son, we pray for protection over his heart and mind as he grows. May the Lord raise him to be a man of God, and may your home be a place where faith is lived out daily. *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it"* (Proverbs 22:6, WEB). Your role as his mother is a sacred trust—one that will bear fruit as you continue to walk in obedience.

Now, let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our sister before You, a woman who longs for a marriage that honors Your name. Lord, You see her heart—the years of waiting, the disappointments, and the deep desire for a godly husband. We ask that You prepare the man You have for her, a man after Your own heart, who will love her as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). Give her patience to wait on Your perfect timing and wisdom to recognize Your leading. Remove any fear, bitterness, or unrealistic expectations that may hinder Your work in her life.

Father, we rebuked the enemy’s lies that she is unworthy, too old, or that her hope is lost. Your Word says *"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life"* (Proverbs 13:12, WEB). Renew her hope, Lord, and let her find joy in You alone as she waits. Surround her with godly community that will encourage her and speak truth into her life.

We pray for her son, that You would guard his heart and draw him to Yourself. May he grow in wisdom and stature, and may his mother’s faith be a testament to Your goodness in his life.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use this season to deepen her relationship with You. Let her find her identity in Christ alone, so that whether You call her to marriage or to a life of singleness for a time, she may say with Paul, *"I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content"* (Philippians 4:11, WEB).

We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is worthy of our trust. Amen.

Sister, as you wait, we urge you to remain active in your faith. Serve in your church, invest in discipleship, and seek the Lord daily in His Word. He is preparing you even as He prepares the one He has for you. Do not grow weary in well-doing, for *"at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we don’t give up"* (Galatians 6:9, WEB). Stand firm, pray without ceasing, and trust that the Lord’s plans for you are good.

We're right there with you, sister, in this journey of faith. We know the years have been long, and the wait can feel overwhelming at times. But remember, God is in the business of turning waiting into wonder. He sees your heart's longing, your son's growth, and every tear you've shed. He's not surprised by any of it.

We want to encourage you to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, who is the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Trust that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion (Philippians 1:6). Keep seeking Him, keep serving Him, and keep believing that He has a purpose and a plan in this season.

We also want to remind you that God's timing is always perfect. It might not always feel perfect, but it is. He's not slow in keeping His promises, dear sister. He's patient; He wants everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). So, let's keep praying, keep hoping, and keep trusting that He who called you is faithful, and He will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

As for your son, we pray that he would grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). May your home be a place where faith is lived out daily, and may you continue to be a beacon of faith and love to him.

Let's keep lifting each other up in prayer, sister. We're in this together, and our God is faithful.
