We hear your heart and we understand the fear that has come over you so suddenly after hearing those words about your college and hostel, and we want to stand with you in prayer as you prepare to begin this new three year chapter of nursing studies.

It is completely understandable to feel anxious when you are about to leave home for the first time, to live in a hostel, to be away from family, and to hear frightening stories from others, but we want to gently remind you that this fear is not from God. For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 When fear tries to tell you that you will not survive these three years, God tells you something very different. Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

Someone has told you that the college is very strict and that not good things happen in the hostel, even speaking of devil or saitan type things, and that because it is a Muslim college you should be afraid. We rebuke that spirit of fear in Jesus name, and we want to encourage you not to let the words of one person steal the peace that God wants to give you. People can repeat rumors and exaggerate, but God is truth and God is sovereign over where you will study. You can be a light for Christ even in a place that does not share your faith, and no evil has power over you when you belong to Jesus, for greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4. Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11

We also hear your tender heart for your friend that you hope to share the same room with, and for your little sister who will be an hour away, and for your family whom you will miss so much. God sees all of these relationships and He cares about each one. We know you are excited now and you feel you will cry later from homesickness, and that is normal. God will be your comfort in that loneliness. Even when you miss home, He promises Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid nor be dismayed, for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6 and In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

We want to encourage you in these days before you leave at the end of this month. Bring every fear to Jesus in prayer every day, read His Word and let it be your strength in the hostel, stay close to your friend in godly friendship and pray together, keep healthy contact with your family and your sister, and focus on your studies as unto the Lord, trusting that He has a good plan for your future. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for Your love that never fails this dear daughter. We thank You for opening the door for her to study nursing and we ask that You remove all inside fear and replace it with Your perfect peace. Lord, we pray that You will be with her in that college and in that hostel every day for these three years, that no strictness or unkindness or any work of darkness will harm her, for You are her refuge and fortress. We pray that if it is Your will, You will allow her and her friend to have the same room, that they may encourage one another, study well, and keep each other close to You. We lift up her little sister who will be an hour away, keep her safe and well and let the sisters remain connected in love. Comfort her family as they prepare to be apart and help them all to know that You go with her wherever she goes as You promised, Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9 Guide her studies, give her wisdom and favor with teachers, and let her live there happily with friends without fear, shining Your light. We cast all anxiety on You because You care for her, and we trust You to carry her through every day of this new chapter. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We are glad you shared this so openly with us. It makes complete sense that you feel both excited and scared right now. Starting nursing college, living in a hostel for the first time for three years, being an hour away from your little sister and away from family, that is a huge transition. And it is understandable that one conversation filled with stories and warnings would leave you feeling suddenly fearful when you were feeling good before.

When we hear secondhand stories about a place being very strict or about frightening things happening, our minds can run ahead of what is actually true. It can help to get clear information directly from the college itself before you go. If you are able, you and your friend could contact the hostel office together and simply ask about daily routines, rules, and how room allotments work, including whether you can request to be together. Hearing it straight from the staff often quiets a lot of the worry that rumors create.

You already named what will be hardest, missing family and adjusting to hostel life. Talking now with your family, your friend, and your sister about a simple plan for those first weeks, like when you will call home and how you will encourage each other in studies, can make those early days feel less overwhelming.

We are praying for you.

Father in Jesus' name we lift up this dear student to You as she prepares to begin this new chapter. Give her peace in place of fear, safety and kindness in her hostel, help in her studies, and Your steady presence with her, her friend, and her little sister. Guide each step and keep them close to You. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your trembling heart has been laid before the Lord, and I have heard your thanksgiving mingled with your fear. You love the Lord Jesus and you thank Him for His love, and now you look forward to three years of study with a hope that is suddenly clouded by words you have heard about strictness and about dark things in the hostel, and by the thought of leaving family for a life you have never known. To feel a fluttering of heart at such a change is natural, but to live in fear is neither needful nor profitable for a child of God.

Have you not found that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Fear is weakening. It dishonors God, as if the arm which piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth could be palsied, and could not keep one poor trusting soul in a college hostel. Therefore I charge you, if you are indeed a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, to play the man and let your faith overcome your fear, obeying that gracious word, Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.

The Lord has planted this word very plentifully in His garden, Fear not. Fear not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy God. Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord. It is not merely a preacher who cries Fear not, but Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not. To remain in fear after such a promise is disobedience. Labor then to get rid of fear by trust in promised strength. There must be trust in promised strength, and then fear is removed by that promise, Fear not, for I will help thee.

You fear what men have told you, and what may happen in that place, and you fear evil spirits. Remember that the fear of man bringeth a snare, but the fear of the Lord is holy and clean. Fear not them which can trouble the body, but fear Him who is Lord of all. And look unto Jesus, for this is He who conquers for us the fear of death and of darkness. In proportion as your faith gets stronger, your fear will vanish. Worldlings do not understand on what terms we are linked with Christ. To them He is one who lived long ago and died. To us He is alive, our familiar Friend, present in the hostel room as in the home, present in the classroom as in the church. Where He is, no devil can have dominion over you. Perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath torment, and His love is perfect.

Do not let the talk of others govern your heart. Much that is told to frighten the newcomer proves to be rumor. Be sober and watchful, keep close to the Lord in prayer, keep His Word open before you, seek honest and kind companions, and walk in purity and diligence. If you are placed in a college ordered by those of another faith, the Lord can keep you there as He kept Daniel in Babylon. He will be your keeper night and day.

I have prayed for you, and will continue to pray, that the Lord will go with you in the last days of this month as you begin this new chapter, that He will give you quietness of mind for your studies, that He will watch over your little sister though she be an hour distant, that He will provide for you and your friend according to His wisdom, whether it be the same room or not, and that He will make your hostel to be a place where you may live happily and usefully with your friends, not in fear, but in faith. It is natural that you will miss your family and that tears may come, but even there the Lord will be your comfort, and He will teach you that you are never alone.

May the Lord grant you forgiveness and peace through the precious blood of Christ, and with that forgiveness put His holy fear in your heart, that you may not depart from Him, and may you hear Him say each morning of these three years, Fear not, I will help thee.
